Newly built 4 bedroom, 4.5 bath home with a private pool and both indoor and outdoor dining areas with gas grill. The main house contains a master bedroom with a king bed and also a single bed and the second bedroom consists of a queen. There are two private casitas outside of the main house adjacent to the pool area, one consisting of a queen bed and the second has two single beds. Only a 4 minute walk to Playa Pelada beach, the house's 4 bedrooms can accommodate up to 9 people comfortably and the living room that can easily and comfortably accomodate 2 extra people.
The beach is very scenic with white sand. Playa Pelada is perfect for swimming, boogie boarding, or just sunbathing. If you are a surfer, there is world class surfing, just a 5 minute drive away. You are also a short walk from the Nosara river. There you can fish, take a river kayaking tour or just enjoy the beauty of the river.
Nosara is a nature lover's paradise with all the comforts that you expect on vacation. There are many fine restaurants in the area. Thank you for visiting and please let me know if I can answer any questions you might have about Casa dos Palmas or Nosara.
Let me start off by saying that we are a family that travels a lot. We look for different experiences and would typically not return to the same destination. This all changed when found this amazing place at the north end of Playa Pelada 6 years ago. We have been back 5 times, staying in this house 4 times.
If you are reading this, you probably know Nosara is highly regarded as a top tourism destination. Nosara is made up of several beaches which include Playa Garza, Playa Guiones (main beach), Playa Pelada, Playa Nosara and Ostional. Guiones is the main tourist area where most of the tourism infrastructure is located. It is renowned for its surfing and has consistent waves and beach breaks for all levels and abilities. Ostional is home to the largest nesting site for Olive Ridley Sea Turtles in the world, which nest for a few days every month, a week or so before the new moon. Playa Pelada has virtually no development and is one of the most picturesque beaches in Costa Rica having volcanic outcrops and small sandy bays. The house is located at the North end of the Beach in an area with just a handful of houses. The beach is almost as close as you can get to the beach as there is no development permitted along the shoreline. It is easily accessible (3 min walk) down a small dirt path.
About the house - This house has a unique layout which is convenient for large groups. We have travelled with other families with small children and have each had our spaces and washrooms. The central location of the pool makes it conducive for drinks and swimming with sun and shade. It is always well kept and you never know what animals will drop by for a visit. It is common to see exotic birds, coatimundis, raccoons, iguanas, and howler monkeys poolside. The living room and kitchen are well equipped, simple and functional. There is a nice indoor and outdoor dining tables if you choose to cook your own meals. I highly recommended the pescaderia (fish vendor) beside Il Basilica or in San Juanillio - Fresh Yellow Fin Tuna is about $6/lb so needless to say we ate a lot of Sushimi.
Like most remote places comes some inconveniences - power outages, water shortages, and driving to amenities are a reality here. Bring flashlights and expect these type of things.
So to conclude - if you are looking for a true costa rica experience this is for you. If you pack in a Luis Vuitton Suitcase look at the resorts or Manual Antonio.
I would definitely stay here again if its available. Tiffany was very helpful when we checked in & told us everything about the place. The house is in a quiet neighborhood close enough to the beach to hear the ocean at night. The beach access is 5 minutes from front door to toes in the ocean. If you like to cook the house is fully decked out with plenty of cooking gadgets & plenty of room. We had a couple nice meals with a group of friends around the poolside table. Pelada has a few good restaurants & bars. We liked El Chivo, Il Pepperoni & La Luna. A quick drive or 10 min walk along the beach gets you to Playa Guiones which offers dozens of other restaurants, bars, shops & things to do. Can't beat this place for the price!
My family and I and another family spent Christmas in Nosara at Casa dos Palmas. We arrived on December 17th and were their until December 30th. Our first night was a learning experience to say the least. We were robbed while we were asleep, my purse was stolen with all of our passports, ID, cell phones, money, well as my wedding ring. We called Tiffaney and she was able to contact us with the Nosara Police as well as the Canadian Embassy. The police were helpful but the language barrier was very difficult, thank goodness for Google translate. We figured since we met Tiffaney the night before at the bar El Chivos, so we could follow her to Casa dos Palmas we were being watched to find out who the new gringos were in town. That morning of the robbery we searched the whole area of the house but nothing was found; we also spoke to the locals who were very helpful and nice. The locals ensured us that who ever broke into the house didn't have any harmful intensions they were just after anything they could get for money. Tiffaney on the other hand was not very accommodating with our situation, not once while we were there did she call to see how we were doing or if there is anything she could do. We could not make any phone calls to cancel our credit cards or even call the Embassy. She would never come to the house we had to meet her at the bar so we could use her cell phone. I did ask her to come to the house because of the language barrier we had with the police but she said there was nothing she could do. She did send her assistant but her english was not very good. However, if there was some thing wrong or we needed something for the house she was accommodating. Because of limited funds we were unable to go on any excursions, but the beach was a 5 min walk and the ocean was fantastic! Also the roads are not very good, lots of pot holes and wash boards so if you can try to rent a quad it will be a lot easier for you. There are a lot of people, kids and dogs walking and crossing over on the roads. So PLEASE SLOW DOWN!
So my warning to anyone stay at Casa do Palmas...Lock the house up tight and put the security system on! Make sure you put all your valuables and ID in the safe! I don't want to see what happen to us, happen to you.
Nosara is fun for a beach, surfing vacation. Expect very dusty environment, roads aren't paved and very bumpy. Playa Pelada, a 5 minute walk, is good for swimming and wide beach for young kids. La Luna & El Chivo restaurants are great. House has 2 spacious bedrooms upstairs and 2 bedrooms separated from house, in a small separate building out at the pool. House is clean. No smoke detectors, must lock up at night, and gates on all windows. I'd wish the house would have lockable trash cans outside in lieu of leaving garbage on street for animals. We used ATV place at Hotel de Paris. Went ATV up to mountains, then horse back riding with a farmer, to his mother's house in woods for a traditional costa rican lunch. Delicious. It was a 5 hour trip; best thing we did. Bring bandana to wrap around your mouth/nose due to roads. Shopping in town is fun, there are a few nice shops. Enjoy the beach! Driving from Liberia was a 3 hr trip. Get a 4x4 !! No road signs, so be prepared to get lost. It would be helpful to provide guests with a good map ahead of time.
My husband and I spent our honeymoon in Nosara at Casa dos Palmas! We had a blast! Nosara is such a beautiful place with so much to do. We were there Mon-Sat and we wish we could have stayed longer! The house was very comfortable and has a lot of room. There were only two of us but there is plenty of room for a big family. The pool is excellent, we spent the first day just lounging by the pool and listening to all of the animals around us. The Playa Pelada beach is so close to the house and there was hardly anyone else around every time we went it felt like a private beach! We decided to rent an ATV for our transportation right when we arrived with iQuad Nosara. Alex is the guy that runs iQuad and he is so nice and helpful, he even recommended some places for us to go. Some of the activities we did while we were there included charter fishing with Fishing Nosara, an ATV tour with iQuad and we visited the Nosara Refuge for Wildlife. The fishing charter was really fun, my husband caught a 300 lb Blue Marlin which he was so excited about! We also caught 3 sailfish. The ATV tour was awesome! It is very long (4 hours) but it is worth it to see the sights from the top of the mountains and the howler monkeys in the trees. I do not think that I was prepared for just how loud howler monkeys actually are (you can hear them from 3 miles away). The first morning we were woken up by them at 5:30 am & I thought one was inside the house it was so loud, haha. I call them the roosters of Costa Rica. They howl very early in the mornings, haha. The wildlife refuge was very informative and interesting. We got to see the baby howler monkeys up close and learn all about them. I highly recommend going there if you love animals. I was also blown away by how good the food was in Nosara! We never had a bad meal. We ate at La Luna which is right on the beach and very nice. The cocktails are amazing. Il Pepperoni, El Chivo, & The Guilded Iguana are also very good. There are also little cafes in Playa Guiones that have really good breakfast. Tiffany, the property manager, is also very nice and helpful.
The only negatives were flying in a tiny plane with Nature Air out of San Jose (we flew through a storm.. not fun) and none of the taxi drivers could find our house when we needed one. I would recommend putting a sign with the house name on the gate. All of the taxi drivers thought we were at the hotel Villas dos Palmas, haha.
We hope to come back and visit one day!!

Our family of 5 had a great stay of 8 days in Casa dos Palmas. We really enjoyed the area and the house. The beach down the road, Pelada, was nice and calm particularly at low tide. Guiones, which was 10 minutes by car, had great surf and lessons are easily arranged. There is a a local gas station (not always the case in CR) and a good selection of markets for food and drink. There are a few good restaurants within easy walking distance (La Luna is great) and many more not far away. Basically plenty to keep everyone happy.
The house is well equipped with plenty of cooking utensils and even a good selection of Tupperware. The BBQ is very good and ideal for cooking whole red snapper purchased at the little fish market on RT 160 in Guiones. The pool is excellent and large enough for a party. The listing accurately describes the property.
Tiffany the property manager is helpful, particularly in explaining all door locks, which thankfully are common keyed. While we were there the washing machine was out for repair and Tiffany had our laundry done upon request so there was no inconvenience at all.
I would recommend the area and the property
