We had a very pleasant stay and have no complaints. We would however suggest from a self catering point that 2 saucepans and a frying pan could be enhanced
Well kept villa in fantastic location
Probably the least commercial area we've stayed. Stunning views from the villa of the sea and and the mountains. All local authentic tavernas and mini markets. The villa is well kept with regular villa and pool cleaning. The villa has everything you need and nothing you don't. The beds were comfortable with fresh soft cotton sheets. A simple welcome food pack for your arrival. Bath towels are provided but would bring a beach towel. Several mature trees in the garden means shade can be found throughout the day.
The nearest taverna is at the bottom of the short drive which just on the beach. Several other tavernas within walking distance along the beach which is a mixture of rocks and sand. The water at the end of September was warm and crystal clear.
You can hire a boat at the next town along about 25 mins drive or walk in the mountains just behind. The area is set well forward of the mountains on the flat which means it has sun all day long and see some spectacular sunsets over the water from the tavernas or beach.
If you want to get away from it all, this is the place to go.

perfect get away holiday, perfect recreation, great location for the ones who seek peace and freedom during holidays. It is really a place to return to. Beautiful view, all comforts. This place is for recreation, not for lot of action and party. The nearby beach is well maintained and offers a beautiful view of the Frangokastello fortress. Highly recommendable.

It could be mentionned (for people with young children) that there is no way in the pool where you can put your feet if you are under 1,65m tall.

The village of Frangokastello is named after the ruins of the fortified castle that still stands on the coastline. The village itself is strung out along the flat fine sandy beaches and the plain beneath a mountain backdrop.
Frangokastello is a quiet and unspoilt area set beside the sea, there are several tavernas and some supermarkets selling nearly everything that you might need, we consider this place to be a haven for small or large families and would also suit a large group of friends holidaying together. The Imbros Gorge, is close to Frangokastello, and is the second most popular gorge on Crete after Samaria for walkers. The walk is not too strenuous and can be completed in 2 or 3 hours. The scenery is beautiful and the relative ease of the hike makes it an ideal walk even for families with children. A very short drive brings you to the delightful fishing village of Hora Sfakion, famous for its whitewashed houses, the caves and churches.
