The Perfect Family Retreat… The Ultimate Family Get Away!
Spend Time With Your Family, Today!
The Johnston Family has spent many years playing at the RockyPoint Family Retreat. We want to share our fun and family experience with you.
Chris Johnston purchased this estate in 1978
As the family grew, the desire to work together and play together has always been our family mission. With 15 grandkids all in or out of college... we still enjoy getting together for our annual family football Turkey Bowl and Christmas celebrations.
With so many things to do... you can keep everyone in the family busy and having fun on your vacation or family outing. Also there is plenty of room to host special events, weddings, church or school outings.
I had my wedding ceremony at this house and also accommodated my out of town guests. I kept thinking the whole time, " Wow, pat on the back - what a great choice!" All my guests were in awe and so thankful for the accommodations there...43 people slept (used 2 airbeds) with no problems at all. Kids were so busy with the kayaks, jacuzzi, swimming pool, and pool table....parents enjoyed the quiet time and chatting on the decks. Nobody wants to leave this little sanctuary when it was time to go. I will definitely recommend and choose this location again for future gatherings!!!
My family had our annual reunion at Rocky Point this year. It was a great experience for all. The view is amazing and there was plenty to do from swimming to fishing to outdoor sports on the field and basketball court. There was also plenty to do inside in the media room and with board games. We had a few minor issues that the owner responded to promptly. The owner provided information on attractions nearby, medical info and made the process of reserving the property very simple. Also, as other viewers noted, there are quite a few stairs between the main house and cottage for planning purposes for young kids and the elderly. Overall, great place to spend some quality family time.
We had an absolutely wonderful time. The property is very well maintained and easily sleeps at least 30+ people. The kitchen was very well stocked with cookware and the hot tub/pool were amazing. Chris was very responsive to any issues that we had.
Our family came to RockyPoint for a family reunion. The setting is beautiful, private and quiet. The house is roomy and nicely decorated. We thoroughly enjoyed all the vast amenities and many special features of this home. It was hot, hot, hot and very humid but both the main house and the cottage were well air conditioned.
Our teenagers loved the “awesome” basement bunk /game room in the main house. Not mentioned in the description is a loft on the 3rd level of the main house. It was a bit warm at night even with ceiling fans but all of the little girls loved staying up there. There are no beds but a modern sectional couch that can sleep 2-3 kids. It is carpeted so more kids could sleep on floor mats or cots. (main house has several cots stored and available) Parents need to be aware the very steep ladder can be a hazard if toddlers are not watched. All of the bedrooms were comfortable and cozy, each has a flat screen TV.
Many of us enjoyed sitting out on the porches in the evenings and mornings. We had so much fun having a water balloon toss on the tennis court, renting a pontoon boat and swimming in the pool. We did not swim in the lake as the water is murky but the kayaks were a big hit. We cooked all of our meals and found both kitchens adequately stocked with pots, pans, dishes, etc.
Chris the property manager was very good to work with in making our reservation. Soon after we arrived I contacted him concerning a broken gate and a few other minor issues. He sent a local person (I think named Al) who arrived very quickly. He was very helpful and took care of things right away.
Overall we loved RockyPoint and would return in a heartbeat.
As few things for future guests to be aware of:
• Bring extra hangers, kitchen towels, ice, beach towels, bug spray.
• There is one average size refrigerator in the main house and one in the cottage. Large groups might
want to use coolers to keep beverages in. We did find a refrigerator located in the furnace room in the
• Ice maker in main house is slower than average making ice. It did not keep up with our needs.
• Numerous steps between house and cottage became a strain for some of the older family members.
• Some of the steps are not well marked and have nails sticking up - we had more than one person trip or
cut their foot.
This location was a perfect fit for our family gathering. We were able to participate in different activity, go fishing, Kayaking and much more. The site was large enough to accommodate 26+ people. We would like to thank you for your hospitality.
This property was a fantastic fit for my family reunion. There were 26 of us (11 kids) and there was never a dull moment. Plenty of activities to keep everyone busy. Lake activities, pool, hot tub, basketball, catching fireflies, roasting marshmallows, the list goes on. Very well kept and clean. Secluded enough that neighbors are not an inconvenience. Would stay here again no question about it.
