This house was located just outside of Canon City so it was great at night where we could see no lights from the town and we're able to enjoy the stars. It's on a highway so you will have to deal with the cars driving by but we didn't mind. The bedrooms were clean and spacious. It was plenty of space for the six of us. Location was great for all of the activities we had planned in town and just up the highway. Kitchen had all the comforts of home. No complaints whatsoever on our stay! We would definitely use this house again!
We were in Canon City to raft (with Raft Masters) the Royal Gorge. So we wanted some place centrally located and large enough for our family. This place was perfect! Clean very well stocked. Had a grill on the back deck. Sunsets were beautiful. Thank you so much!
The house is perfectly situated next to a mountain for early morning runs and hikes. easy access to town and dinner and all the sites in Canon City. Lots of space, sleeps 12 very comfortably and great layout of house. Comfy beds for great sleeping.
The photos of this property do not do it justice. This home is very nicely laid out. The master bedroom suite is spacious and extremely comfortable. The kitchen is stocked with all needed items and is not only good for preparing the days meal(s) but it is also a natural gathering point for the planning of the days activities. We had a very enjoyable stay, while visiting relatives in the Canon City and Pueblo area. I would definitely recommend this property to others, and hope to return next summer to spend some time fly-fishing on the Arkansas. We spent most of our time visiting, but I would recommend rafting or tubing the Arkansas and also taking a ride on the Royal Gorge Route Railroad. Over all, we were genuinely surprised and pleased with this first time use of a vacation rental property. The owner and maintenance persons need to be complimented on this property! Even though I really liked this place, there were what I would consider to be two minor drawbacks; the entrance stairway seemed a little steep and the "stickers" or "sand burrs" seemed to be everywhere. Once I/we adapted, even those were of little consequence. Definitely 5 stars!
It was a beautiful view of the mountains and everything even the highway... if you don't mind the occasional car shining lights through the window you will not be bothered by anyone really. It was a nice place all around but the picture did give the appearance of more space than there actually was. The basement was being renovated while we stayed there so there wasn't much space to relax with 10 people but there is certainly enough sleeping space for that number and more. The surrounding area has many things to do and a lot of cool things to visit. although, the house itself was limited for activities since it was close to the highway on one side and had a mountain behind (this was a really cool and beautiful though during the sunset). We certainly enjoyed our stay but would check if the basement is not under renovation if you take 8 or more people.
This rental home had plenty of space for our party of 7. It was really great to have four full/queen beds and enough bathrooms for everyone. The house was clean and the beds were comfortable. Kris was responsive and easy to work with. The fireplace malfunctioned during our visit and she responded quickly and had someone over to check it out to see if it could be fixed for us.
We did have a few concerns during our stay. There was a problem of goatheads (nasty thorny seeds) on the driveway and walkway to the house. These seeds covered the path and stuck to our shoes. We had paid extra to have our dog stay with us and he had to be carried in and out of the house due to the amount of thorns that would stick in his paws. We also felt that the lighting on the steep staircase leading up to the house wasn't adequate and would have appreciated more than one key to the house.
Overall, it was a good experience and we would rent again if the thorn issue was taken care of.
