About the property

2 Bedroom + loft with private dock, lake and mountain views

Beautiful lake front property enjoyable in late spring, summer and early fall. The cabin has waterfront views with a private dock, float access, 2 kayaks (shared with other house on property), 1 canoe and row boat use. Enjoy views from the screened in porch and from the master bedroom. Cabin access is off a private road offering a quiet, tranquil vacation. Close to towns of Center Harbor and Meredith.

Sleeps 4 adults comfortably. Additional sleeping available in the open loft (accessible by ladder) suitable for children or young at heart!

Area activities are plentiful: bring your own boat (public boat launch close-by - dock is 20 feet and which accommodates boats approx 18"), rent a motorboat, jet ski or kayak at nearby marina; bargain shop at the North Conway/Tilton Outlet Malls; go Golfing; visit Storyland or Water Country; play Mini-Golf; go Bowling; enjoy the arcade at Funspot; visit Weirs Beach; attend a Local Craft Fair; go Antiquing; visit Castle in the Clouds; read a good book; nap on your dock or porch; swim; go fishing; go hiking (Red Hill and Rattlesnake are family favorites). Great leaf peeping location in the fall.

A comfortable cottage in a beautiful setting.

  • 4 of 5

The highlight of this cottage is the screened porch with a view of the lake through many trees. The master bedroom also has a wonderful view of the lake through a picture window. You can drink the pure tap water and the kitchen is well-equipped, although the gas stove requires manually lighting the burners which is a little tricky with sparker. The water is clear and the temperature was ideal for swimming this year.

We particularly enjoyed visiting Castle in the Clouds nearby, for the hiking trail, Carriage House restaurant, and mansion tour. I don't know if it is standard procedure, but we also enjoyed the boat ride the friendly owner took us on.

The cottage includes access to 2 kayaks, a canoe and a row boat. However, this portion of Winnipesaukee is fairly narrow and there is an almost continual stream of powerboats racing down the middle, creating a lot of noise and rough water, especially in the late afternoon. The wake from these boats makes the float in front of the cottage bounce up and down throughout the day and makes for rough canoeing and kayaking.

Excellent Week!

  • 5 of 5

My family of five including three young adult children had a wonderful week at Forest Tall. We swam, kayaked, explored, hiked, slept, hiked some more and just relaxed. The cabin was plenty big enough for all of us to be together for meals, evening games and movies. It was also perfect for each of us to have peaceful, quiet alone time reading or working on our computers. The Clarks were so friendly and helpful. We especially enjoyed listening to 97 year old Fred's stories. The week went too quickly. I hope we can come back again! I highly recommend Forest Tall!

Water Front Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Prior reviews and EMail with owners are what sold us on this cabin. It's all they said it was, clean, comfortable and a great base for vacation activities. We were late in the season for water activities but the "fleet" is there for your use. Canoe restaurant in Center Harbor has great food. If your a golfer stay away from Kona Golf Course. Had chance to meet Alison and Jon (owner/caretakers) and they are great people.

23+ years coming here and every year we say two weeks next year. One week is never enough time. The new addition of two kayaks is awesome. We took them to see the bald eagles nest on the island by camp Tecumseh -only took about an hour down and back. The new boat rack is quite nice to store all the boats too( canoe, row boat and 2 kayaks). Spent a lot of time floating on the raft and in the water. The owners are a pleasure to work with and we highly recommend a stay in this charming cabin-just leave two weeks for us in 2015!

Great family cabin!

  • 4 of 5

My family had a wonderful week at Forest Tall cabin!!! The location was beautiful and very private. The screened in porch was perfect, and much bigger than we thought! We had breakfast, lunch and dinner out there everyday and family game night there every night! My daughter loved sleeping up in the loft. The house was exactly as pictured and we loved it! It fit our little family to a T! We would definitely recommend the house and book this house again!!!

cozy lake house

  • 4 of 5

We stayed from june 29th thru july 6th, 2013 and really enjoyed this cozy cabin. The property owner fred and his wife thelma were gracious and informative hosts, lots to share with us on sites to see and things to look out for and even took us on a tour of the lake on his boat. The house had plenty of room for my husband and I and two teenage boys and they loved having free use of the row boat, canoe and swimming docks. The only reason I did not rate it excellent is because of the well water issue but was no fault of the owner and he certainly did what he could to make a potentially bad situation bearable. It has everything you need, my biggest luxury item I missed from home was washer n dryer but even that was nothing compared to the charm of the home and location. Recommend visiting the castle in the clouds, bede falls and using the private lake with permit over the bridge on moultonborough neck road. Harts restaurant was good, but most dinners we cooked in and relaxed after day on water, we even played board games and stayed off electronics. Yea forest tall.
