Why Doug Stewart & Bonita Brody Stewart chose Historic Eastside
Bonita grew up in this home! We completed a $700,000 remodel several years ago and Casa Bonita is beautiful! This is the largest rental home in the Historic District of Santa Fe and the closest to the famous Plaza!
What makes this House unique
Location, Location, Location and everything is new! We are the only 5 bedroom, 4 bath rental home in the historic district and it is an 8 - 10 minute walk from the famous Plaza and Canyon Road. Everything is new and we have the best location in Santa Fe!! We are on famous Palace Ave! If you walk down Palace Ave. you enter the famous Plaza after a short walk. This is the center of Santa Fe and where the wagon trains would end their journey after months of travel from Missouri on the Santa Fe Trail. This occurred from 1821 to around 1880 when the Santa Fe Rail Road reached the out skirts of Santa Fe at the town of Lamy. Casa Bonita is only 20 - 30 minutes from the Santa Ski Basin! Great skiing from Thanksgiving until the middle of April!

Santa Fe Fantastica
The home was amazing and was within a short distance to everywhere we wanted to go. If you follow the river way it is only a mile to the activity of downtown. The house was very comfortable, loved all the little conversation areas on the outside of house and the jacuzzi was fabulous. If you are interested in a spa treatment, only about a hour away is the Ojo Caliente spa and mineral springs a must for those who really like massages and natural hot springs.
Lovely Place to Reunite
Nine friends from all over the country spent a wonderful five days together at Casa Bonita. We had plenty of space to gather in the living and dining rooms, and enough beds that we were all able to be comfortable. The house was clean, the kitchen fully stocked, and the garden provided a beautiful and quiet place to retreat. We walked to The Plaza and Canyon Road and drove to nearby hiking trails and other attractions. In short, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Thanks for your comments and please come again. We love Santa Fe and all the great museums and restaurants and hiking trails. We are constantly upgrading Casa Bonita. The next upgrade will be another bathroom.
very lovely spot for relaxing and access to Santa Fe
My sisters, cousins, and I had lovely girls weekend in Santa Fe and the house was perfect for us. Lots of room and a very well stocked kitchen. It's in very quiet neighborhood, but very close to all you might want to do and see in town. We greatly enjoyed the stay. The weather was not ideal - cold and some snow - but that is not the fault of the house/hosts! Thanks so much to Doug and Bonita for sharing their lovely property with us.
Thanks for staying and come again when the weather is better. Usually is great after April to October unless you are a skier. We had lots of snow this winter! We are about minutes from the ski basin!
Beautiful home in a great location
We had a wonderful girls' weekend in Casa Bonita, which is a beautiful house, with great artwork and furnishings! The location was perfect. It was an easy walk to the Plaza and we also enjoyed walking along the river to the Railyard, for the Saturday morning Farmer's Market. Since we were such a large group, we cooked most of our meals there and appreciated how well supplied the kitchen was! The outdoor grill was awesome! The VRBO description is very accurate and we would highly recommend this property. Thank you so much Bonnie and Doug!!
Thanks for the great review! We constantly up date Casa Bonita and keep things new for our guests.
Please come again!

Beautiful home, perfect for a family gathering
We treated our family to a Santa Fe Ski vacation and everyone had a great time. The location was ideal to get to not only the ski resort but also walking to the historic area of this lovely town and a short drive to a lovely spa. The highlight of our trip was relaxing in this comfortable home in the evenings and sharing the fun of the day. Highly recommend it!
Thanks for coming! Santa Fe is an Amazing town! The street we are on was named in 1610! There are lots of restaurants, museums, art galleries, sking, Snowboarding and lots of art shows.
Casa Bonita is in the heart of downtown Santa Fe, NM on famous Palace Ave, a short walk to the famous Plaza & Canyon Road. Palace Ave. is one of the oldest streets in Santa Fe. Palace Ave. was founded in 1610. It was named by the Spanish for the Palace of the Governors which is on the Plaza on Palace Ave in the Plaza.
There are over 50 fine restaurants and over 200 art galleries within walking distance of Casa Bonita. We love to stroll over to Canyon Road and have dinner at El Farol or the Compound Restaurant. If we want a great lunch or dinner in the Plaza area we walk down Palace to the Shed. You can have a great breakfast at the Plaza Cafe on the Plaza. Native American Indians sit daily on Palace Ave. on one side of the famous Plaza selling their wares. You are a half hour from world-class skiing at Santa Fe Ski Basin. Santa Fe ski Basin has 7 lifts and 77 trails. There is a 48 inch base currently with more snow to come! The lifts are open from December 6 until the first week of April. Taos Ski Basin is an hour and a half north of Santa Fe. There are over 40 festivals and fiestas each year in Santa Fe celebrating everything from wine and Chile to jazz and Native American arts. During the summer you can picnic or hike the Aspen and Ponderosa Pine covered mountains behind Santa Fe. They are beautiful. There are lots of hiking trails.
There are also numerous Casinos and wineries near by. Golf is nearby.
Things to do while in Santa Fe include; The New Mexico History Museum and The Palace of the Governors. This is the oldest continually occupied government building in the U.S. It was built in 1610 and currently houses numerous exhibitions, collections and artifacts reflecting the area's nearly 500-year history. It is a 10 minute walk from Casa Bonita down Palace Ave. The Shed Restaurant is on Palace and is one of our favorites!
The famous Plaza was established in 1610 and is the center of town. The Palace of the Governors is on Palace Ave, in the Plaza. The are lots of shops and restaurants in this area.
There are several historic churches near the Plaza including San Miguel Mission which is the oldest church in the U.S.
Canyon Road is a 10 minute walk from Casa Bonita. Canyon Road is home to more than 100 of the world's finest art galleries, containing works from Taos and Santa Fe artists of the late 1800's and 1900's, as well as those of modern masters such as Nieto and Gorman.
Other Activities: You can walk to Santa Fe's historic Plaza, drive 16 miles to the Santa Fe Ski Basin, walk to Canyon Road, Museum of New Mexico, Santa Fe Opera, over 200 Art Galleries, picnic in the Santa Fe National Forest, Museum of International Folk Art, Santa Fe Children's Museum, nearby Indian Casinos, lots of southwest shopping, beautiful old churches, lot's of great restaurants, Palace of the Governors from the early Spanish days, Museum of Fine Arts and Sweeny Convention Center. The course is 7500 yards and is a championship course and has a great driving range. They have a full pro shop, food services and spectacular year round golf.
You can ski or snow board 20 minute away from Casa Bonita at Santa Fe Ski Basin. The lifts are open from Thanksgiving thru the first week of April. There are 7 lifts and 77 runs. Taos is an hour and a half or so north of Santa Fe and has great skiing and snow boarding. The Taos Pueblo is an hour and a half away and open all year round and is a 1000 year old pueblo. We recently flew in a hot air balloon in Taos. The pilot dropped us into the gorge and on to the river and then up we went! What a ride!
