Thornleigh is situated between Porthleven and beautiful Praa Sands. Porthleven is a popular harbour, and has many award winning restaurants, cafes and pubs. Below are a few we recommend;
The harbour also has many gift shops, and a well stocked fishing tackle shop which also organises boat and fishing trips.
Praa sands is a beautiful large sandy beach, ideal for families as it has lifeguards and amenities. There is a beach shop, surf hire and surf lessons are available. Also various cafes with fantastic views over the beach. One of these is the Sandbar which is a licensed beach bar/restaurant serving food and drink all day until late evening. There is plenty of seating with fantastic views over the beach through the many large windows. Also has a large balcony seating area overlooking the beach for dining al fresco. It is welcoming to all, couples, families, dog friendly and there is a retro games area with pinball and air hockey, and plenty of parking available.
Local pubs to Thornleigh
The Crown Inn at Crowntown is the closest pub to Thornleigh at just under a mile cross country walk or just over a mile drive. The Queens Arms is the local village pub at Breage, both of these are CAMRA recognised. The Victoria Inn at Perranuthnoe. Has received several Gold awards from Taste West and Cornwall Tourism. Good food in a warm and comfortable atmosphere. Advisable to book during busy times, great for Sunday lunch. Again welcoming to all.
Helston provides a range of takeaways, cafes, pubs and the stylish restaurant Nansloe Manor.
Thornleigh is surrounded by beautiful countryside and coastal walks, within 3 miles are Godolphin, an enchanging estate owned by the National Trust, Rinsey Cove, where you will find 2 old tin mines next to the cliff edge and steps down to the cove below and Loe bar/ Penrose Estate, great for long walks round Loe pool to the sea.
