This Galveston beach bungalow style house was built in the 1930’s and sometime during the 1940’s it was divided up into several 1 bedroom ‘shotgun’ style apartments.
The house, Oasis, now has three beautiful but distinctly different apartments, each one took on their own personality and feel as we restored and furnished them.
We referred to apartment #3 as 'Equinox'
In Equinox we took the existing two small apartments and recreated a beautiful open and welcoming 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartment. Equinox sustained the most damage during hurricane Ike so during the remodel we were able to get very creative with how we rebuilt the apartment. The name Equinox came from the incredible balance that we were able to create with the old and the new architecture. The apartment also has the perfect balance of stone, wood and glass giving it a comforting and relaxing feel that you may find hard to leave.
You may find you get so relaxed that you don’t really want to drive anywhere for dinner, which is no problem, because there are several restaurants and bars and the Pleasure Pier within walking distance.
You will find the apartment perfectly located for all the island’s activities. A block away is the Historic Pleasure Pier, beach and seawall, and since you can see the water from the porch you will know right away if you should take your surf board or fishing pole. In the opposite direction, downtown is less than 2 miles away. It’s a healthy walk or pleasant bike ride through the beautiful Silk Stocking district. In my opinion, the best way to view island’s amazing houses and buildings is on your bike, so bring it along!

My father, grandkids and myself had a wonderful time. The Oasis-Equinox was perfect for us. We had the downstairs unit with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths which was perfect for all of us. The location was wonderful, easy access to pleasure pier and the beach. Our unit was clean and we had plenty of room for all of us. Great location!!!!! Great place, wonderful area. I would not hesitate to go again. It was easy to find and the owner was wonderful
Upon arrival, we were greeted by our host, Karen. She was very personable, easy going, and a great source of "where to" for local entertainment and food establishments. After walking into the home, we took a quick look around, and immediately noticed how large the home was along with updated fixtures, comfy furniture, and cleanliness throughout.
My husband and I took our teenage daughter and 3 of her friends to celebrate her birthday for the weekend. The home was convenient to the Pleasure Pier, the beach, and local eating establishments.
We were sad to leave, but will definitely be back in the years to come.
Great place to stay with a great location. We look forward to coming back each year for the Lonestar Rally. Plenty of room for 5 or 6 adults to rest, relax and have a good time. Thanks Karen for another great Rally!
Wow, what a great place, house was very cozy, shower was amazing, and the owner did everything she could to make our stay the best she could. You could not ask for a better location, half a block from the Pleasure Pier, and many restaurants, a short drive to the water park, and a 3 min walk to the beach. What more do you need? Do not hesitate, this is a great place to stay!!!
This is our fourth time to rent either this property or the other two they have, Spice Island or Hemisphere dreamer. All three are the place to stay. Close to beach, walking distance to restaurants and seawall. Perfect distance, one block off seawall it is quiet in evenings. This property is well done, very comfortable and roomy. We had 4 adults and two children and plenty of room for everyone. Kitchen and bathrooms recently remodeled and well done. Karen, the lady that takes care of property lives on site and always available for questions. In addition they have an available washer and dryer to use, plus outdoor grill. Highly recommended and will certainly stay again.
