Grand Blue Pension
Quiet place on the south western tip of jeju
First the likes. It's a quiet pension in a quiet town at the southwestern point of Jeju. The building itself is old, but all the rooms have been recently renovated with modern conveniences, which gives it a relaxed aged feel. Each of the rooms has a view of the ocean. They are clean and comfortable, and equipped with cookware and utensils, a two burner stove, sink, and a small bistro table. There's a large sliding glass door right in the main room/bedroom, so there's plenty of sunlight. Apart from check-in we didn't see the owners at all, which was fine because we didn't have any major issues. There are a ton of Korean sashimi restaurants in the area, more a short drive away. There's a lighthouse that's popular for watching the sunrise just a 5~7minute walk away, and a large park at the southern most point of Jeju a short drive away. Also, there's a ferry terminal about 15~20 min drive that will take you to Morado, the southern most island of Korea. There's no shortage of convenience stores, though most close early.
The bad stuff. 1) The heat is controlled for the entire building, you can't adjust it from the room. 2) The rooms are smoke free, but one morning someone in an adjacent apartment was smoking and the smell made it into our room. 3) If anyone is being loud (read drunkenly arguing) in the hall, you will hear it in your room.
All in all, had a great experience there. I would recommend it to friends, and i would stay there again.
