About Kelly Massey

We live in Atlanta, GA but have been skiing Vail for 30 years! We love every season in Vail and consider it a home away from home! We have so many family memories and fun group trip memories alike. It's a marvelous home and we hope you think so too!!

Kelly Massey purchased this townhome in 2004

Why Kelly Massey chose Vail

We love our home because it has a large, open living space! This is so rare in Vail. Even rarer is the wood burning fireplace. There is so much room to spread out and relax and enjoy panoramic views from the expansive picture windows. It's heavenly for skiers and non-skiers alike!

What makes this townhome unique

The best features of our home are the 2 private decks, one with a large hot tub, and its close proximity to the bus route. It is a short, flat 3 minute walk to the free Town of Vail bus stop.

Great ski trip vacation!

  • 4 of 5

This property was perfect for 3 families of 4. There were plenty of beds, and a great wide open hang out space upstairs with lots of seating, a lovely fireplace, big TV, etc. Plus, it was convenient to the shuttle for trips to Vail for skiing, dining and shopping. We had a great time!

Great property for family reunion!

  • 4 of 5

The house worked great for our family ski trip. We had 13 in our group, and the large open dining/living/kitchen areas worked well and allowed everyone to be together for meals and hang out time.

Beautiful home!

  • 5 of 5

My sister and I and our families had a wonderful time in this lovely home. There were 13 of us, and it was very comfortable. It is a well-cared-for home with attention to detail: extra blankets, nice pillows, quality kitchenware, humidifiers in the bedrooms, etc. The owners are friendly and accomodating; and the property manager is extremely helpful. There was not anything we lacked. We spent every evening hanging out together in the spacious living room by the fire, or smaller groups of us in the hot tub on the deck. It was easy to cook in the kitchen, even for that many people; and there were plenty of bedrooms and bed sizes, so that we were able to sleep everyone comfortably. We enjoyed our ski vacation very very much! Thank you!

P.S. -- I would note, however, that if you go in the wintertime, you need to be sure to rent a car with four wheel drive. The driveway is on a bit of a slope and we had to push our rental van out every time. (Good thing we had so many young men with us!) My sister's SUV had no problem.

Worst experience with a rental property. Was not cleaned properly and many broken things.

  • 2 of 5

The only positive things I can say about this place is it is warm and has plenty of room.

We stayed for 4 nights over thanksgiving break. Here is a list of the problems we ran into. The microwave was physically broken (was told this occurred with previous tenant). A lamp in the living room was physically broken. A chair at the dining room table had a broken leg. Luckily my father did not fall on the ground when sitting in it. The other chairs at the table are worn out. When you sit down it feels like you will fall through the center and probably would if your bottom did not catch on the wooden sides. This was also a problem with one of the living room chairs. They were missing blinds in the living room which made it too bright to sit on the couch during the day. (I was sick or I would have been skiing and not cared about that) There was food on the patio in pots from the previous tenants. There were dirty clothes in the drawers from the previous tenants. We had to finish doing the laundry from the cleanup crew so we had enough towels for our family and friends to shower. The dryer took 3 75 minute cycles to dry the towels so clearly something is wrong with it. The oven has never been cleaned so our thanksgiving dinner tasted like smoke. (the hole main level of the house filled with smoke just from preheating the oven to 400 degrees). The hot tub was broken when we checked it. (ended up being a breaker but the tub was too low on water to use) They did fix this the next day. The trash was all full from the previous tenant (even though it was supposed to have been picked up 2 days before we arrived they said) so the garage stank the hole time and we had nowhere to put our garbage except pile it up in the garage. The owner of the house did not even know her property manager was on vacation. Clearly the owner has not inspected their home in some time or does not care about its condition. I notified her of some of the problems and she just told me to contact the property manager who is two blocks away (he was out of town). Not one apology for anything that was wrong. This is not the type of thing you expect from a nice ski resort rental home. We have stayed at several homes in Vail and Breckenridge and not one complaint about those stays. I would recommend looking for another house.

Owner's Response: Dear "Anonymous," This is our 12th year of renting our home on VRBO, and to my knowledge the lowest rating we have ever received is a 4. There are so many inaccuracies in this review, and after a conversation with the folks at VRBO, I realize the only recourse I have is to post a response. At this point, I have chosen to take the high road. We tried very hard to appease this group starting with the first 2 phone calls helping them locate 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms in the house. Phone calls and a house call from my property manager were unanswered by the group. I will leave my comments at that. I would urge you, if you are interested in renting my home, to read all of the comments on this page. Also, please call the folks at VRBO and ask about my record. I think you will be very pleased with what you hear. Also, please please call me and speak with me!

Great house for a Vail ski trip

  • 5 of 5

I rented the house for a 4-day ski trip with friends. There was more than enough room for 8 of us and we had a great time in the house...grilling, relaxing in the hot tub and enjoying the common areas. Great place for a Vail ski trip!

Great Spot for larger groups - 13-person stay

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here from 02/17-02/22. We initially began with 3 people for the first two nights and expanded to 13 for the final three nights (all 28-34). We were a group of colleagues and college friends spending the weekend skiing and exploring the nightlife. The home and the location were as advertised and were perfect for our group. The home has many bedrooms with single beds, double beds, and bunk beds. The home has private bedrooms as well as bedrooms stocked with multiple beds which is great for both large groups of friends as well as larger families. The kitchen is stocked with most appliances needed to build a solid meal along with the utensils to boot (as well as a dish washer and clothes washer and clothes dryer). There is a large sitting area that was perfect for our group and accommodates more guests as well. The location is only a short 2-minute walk (everyone did it in their ski boots) to the City of Vail shuttle that will take you to the mountain in less than 15-minutes (from there its a little longer walk so the younger or elderly may have difficulties with the second walk in their ski boots). We used our vehicles to go grocery shopping. The owners and property manager were easy to interact with and quick to answer any (only few) questions we inquired about. This is a great spot in order to enjoy Vail as well as enjoy your freedom. I would recommend it to anyone looking to travel with a group of our size.
