About Cathy Cox-Brakefield
We have lived in the Atlanta area and the North Georgia mountains for all of our twenty three years of married life. We are natives of the Virginia/DC area and North Georgia. We love our North Georgia mountain home, but love to travel and get away.
Cathy Cox-Brakefield purchased this Condo in 2008
Why Cathy Cox-Brakefield chose St Simons Island
We began travelling to the Georgia coast at least once a year for business about fifteen years ago. We love the island ambience and the rich history of the area. St. Simons has an abundance of restaurants and activities without all the traffic and hassle of other beach areas. We found our condo and fell in love after looking at many properties all over the island. We love the golf courses at Sea Palms and just walking in the quiet Sea Palms neighborhood. We can also bike to restaurants or the beach with ease on the island trail system.
What makes this Condo unique
While other condos might be a bit closer to the beach, we find that the quiet and privacy of our neighborhood outweighs the proximity. We can easily drive to the beach or the Pier Village (or bike) but can come home to our lovely private home looking out into the trees instead of onto the property next door. The Sea Palms West course is conveniently adjacent to the neighborhood, with a walkable and beautiful nine-hole layout. The Sea Palms Fitness Center, a pool, and tennis courts are just across the parking lot. Just across Frederica Road is the main Sea Palms Resort and Conference Center, where a bar, restaurant, pool, and eighteen-hole golf course are located. The ruins of Fort Fredrica and the beautiful Christ Church are just up the road, for history buffs and explorers. Day trips to the other Georgia Coastal islands are highly recommended, especially Jekyll Island, just a short drive away, where you can visit the Millionaires Cottages built by American tycoons in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century as winter getaways. Jekyll also offers abundant golf on public courses and beautiful public beaches, along with a sea turtle exhibit and a water park. You may never want to leave!

Charming spot for a get away
We traveled due to hurricane evacuation and Mrs. Brakefield was more than accommodating on short notice. Unit is fully stocked with everything you may need for your stay, and is close to the surrounding. Thank you for providing pet friendly travel
clean home feeling
I took my 5 year old daughter and we had a blast. Everything was close and convenient def going soon.
Thank you. It’s a great spot for families to spend time together.
We had a wonderful stay. Your home is very comfortable.
Overall had a pretty good time visiting the area other than it was extremely crowded.
Kathy was really nice about letting us check in early and she was very helpful .Condo was decent . There were a few issues not really worth complaining about other than these little worm like bugs that kept showing up in kitchen and bathroom.my advice to any one renting is to make sure you take pictures of anything you see is dirty , stained or broken .To protect your deposit
I am glad that the guest acknowledged our accommodating an early arrival. We also provided amenities passes (not technically available) for local family not staying in our unit so that they could use pools with these guests. I heard no complaints during the stay about anything that was not acceptable, damaged, or dirty. When our cleaning crew arrived, they found an incredible mess, leading our retaining a portion of the security deposit for extra cleaning fees, including professionally cleaning a comforter that appeared to have mud ground into it. Despite our clearly posted checkout procedures requiring guests to take their trash to the onsite dumpster on departure, trash was left throughout the unit, including a soiled baby diaper in the kitchen sink! Some unidentified substance was spilled onto the sofa and chair, which will also need professional cleaning and a hole was found in the wall of a bedroom. Most owners would have kept the entire deposit instead of the portion we retained. This was only the third time we have retained a portion of the deposit in almost ten years of renting the unit. Please see our other reviews regarding cleanliness of unit. If you have questions regarding our security deposit policies, please don't hesitate to ask.
Very comfortable accommodations.
We enjoyed our stay very much. Reasonably priced. Great location. We will stay there again !!
Nice condo in great location
This was our first visit to St. Simon’s Island. It was mainly a golfing vacation with another couple, but we also enjoyed historical points of interest. Centrally located on the island in a quiet neighborhood, the condo suited our needs perfectly. It was clean, comfortable, well-stocked, and afforded easy access to the grocery, shops, restaurants, golf courses, and other points of interest. Its greatest asset is the owner, Cathy, who is kind and was very helpful with our questions. Her check-in and check-out procedures are extremely easy and convenient. We hope to visit again some day!
Thank you so much. We love the location as well. We welcome returning guests any time.
Fort Frederica and Christ Church (both heavily influenced by John Wesley, the founder of Methodism) are within minutes of our condo. East Beach is a short drive away with an abudance of sports rentals and excursions both on the ocean side of the island and in the marshes on the inland side. Jekyll Island, the private winter retreat of American's millionaire families such as the Cranes, Goodyears, and Rockefellers, is a short drive away and worth a visit. The view from the bridge to Jekyll of the marshes and islands is spectacular.
