About Cathy Cox-Brakefield
We have lived in the Atlanta area and the North Georgia mountains for all of our twenty three years of married life. We are natives of the Virginia/DC area and North Georgia. We love our North Georgia mountain home, but love to travel and get away.
Cathy Cox-Brakefield purchased this Condo in 2008
Why Cathy Cox-Brakefield chose St Simons Island
We began travelling to the Georgia coast at least once a year for business about fifteen years ago. We love the island ambience and the rich history of the area. St. Simons has an abundance of restaurants and activities without all the traffic and hassle of other beach areas. We found our condo and fell in love after looking at many properties all over the island. We love the golf courses at Sea Palms and just walking in the quiet Sea Palms neighborhood. We can also bike to restaurants or the beach with ease on the island trail system.
What makes this Condo unique
While other condos might be a bit closer to the beach, we find that the quiet and privacy of our neighborhood outweighs the proximity. We can easily drive to the beach or the Pier Village (or bike) but can come home to our lovely private home looking out into the trees instead of onto the property next door. The Sea Palms West course is conveniently adjacent to the neighborhood, with a walkable and beautiful nine-hole layout. The Sea Palms Fitness Center, a pool, and tennis courts are just across the parking lot. Just across Frederica Road is the main Sea Palms Resort and Conference Center, where a bar, restaurant, pool, and eighteen-hole golf course are located. The ruins of Fort Fredrica and the beautiful Christ Church are just up the road, for history buffs and explorers. Day trips to the other Georgia Coastal islands are highly recommended, especially Jekyll Island, just a short drive away, where you can visit the Millionaires Cottages built by American tycoons in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century as winter getaways. Jekyll also offers abundant golf on public courses and beautiful public beaches, along with a sea turtle exhibit and a water park. You may never want to leave!

Great place, great location!
The condo was perfect for us. Located close to several great restaurants (Sal's, Brogan's North and Frederica House just to name a few) and easily accessible to to the rest of the island including the beach.
Located in Sea Palms West you are walking distance to one pool and across Frederica Rd is the second pool which offers rentable cabanas, a tiki bar and a restaurant (Public House) which is great.
Highly recommend and would stay here again!
Thank you so much! We love sharing our Island Oasis with folks like you. We love all the things and places you named, plus Delaneys.
Very comfortable accommodations.
We enjoyed our stay very much. Reasonably priced. Great location. We will stay there again !!
Nice condo in great location
This was our first visit to St. Simon’s Island. It was mainly a golfing vacation with another couple, but we also enjoyed historical points of interest. Centrally located on the island in a quiet neighborhood, the condo suited our needs perfectly. It was clean, comfortable, well-stocked, and afforded easy access to the grocery, shops, restaurants, golf courses, and other points of interest. Its greatest asset is the owner, Cathy, who is kind and was very helpful with our questions. Her check-in and check-out procedures are extremely easy and convenient. We hope to visit again some day!
Thank you so much. We love the location as well. We welcome returning guests any time.
This is our 5th stay in this well-equipped condo and it was wonderful, as usual. We enjoyed relaxing indoors during the rainy afternoons, especially the sun room. When the sun was out, we headed to the beach, the 2 pools (one we walked to, the other we biked), and visited Brunswick. There is so much to do on the island itself (Fort Frederica, Christ Church, slave cabins, lighthouse museum) and around (Jekyll Island; Darien with Fort King George; Cumberland Island; Okefenokee Swamp; Jacksonville, etc..). Also enjoyed a great meal at Palmer's Village Café.
Lovely condo that the pictures here do not do justice to how nice and family friendly it really is!
We had a wonderful stay at this property. There's access to a pool and workout facilities just steps away from the door. The beach is an easy 10 minute drive. St. Simons is filled with both fun and history for those who want to learn of Georgia's early days.
We were on a budget this trip and the full accommodations of the kitchen was a blessing. The condo itself is roomy enough for the family and yet cozy. We took our pets, too, which was an added benefit.
The biggest question asked by my children on the way home was "When can we go back?" I think that's the best summary of the wonderful time that was enjoyed by all.
Lovely location and a feeling that you are in a cottage rather than a condo... and that is a good feeling! Lots of space and everything provided that one would need. Loved the sun room and deck, although rain while I was there prevented our using deck very much. The deck backs up to a preserve and there is area just off deck to right that was perfect for getting my dog our for early, quick pee and could do so in my pajamas...perfect & then after coffee, out for good walk with her. Very nice, friendly people in the area and pet friendly atmosphere. Close to good restaurants, Brogan's North, Frederica House and also enjoyed Bubba Garcia's. Especially loved the Wild Georgia Shrimp at both Frederica and Brogan's. Very close to my lifelong friend who lives in the Commons, so that made it even better! Can't wait to get back in January and enjoy the weather & be able to walk my dog every day without contending with ice/snow, etc. as I have in winter in PA where I live. See you in January and thanks for such a lovely place and allowing my dog to enjoy with me. Thank you Cathy, for your attention.
Thank you. We strive to make sure that our home feels as welcoming as possible. We look forward to your visit next year.
Fort Frederica and Christ Church (both heavily influenced by John Wesley, the founder of Methodism) are within minutes of our condo. East Beach is a short drive away with an abudance of sports rentals and excursions both on the ocean side of the island and in the marshes on the inland side. Jekyll Island, the private winter retreat of American's millionaire families such as the Cranes, Goodyears, and Rockefellers, is a short drive away and worth a visit. The view from the bridge to Jekyll of the marshes and islands is spectacular.
