About Cathy Cox-Brakefield
We have lived in the Atlanta area and the North Georgia mountains for all of our twenty three years of married life. We are natives of the Virginia/DC area and North Georgia. We love our North Georgia mountain home, but love to travel and get away.
Cathy Cox-Brakefield purchased this Condo in 2008
Why Cathy Cox-Brakefield chose St Simons Island
We began travelling to the Georgia coast at least once a year for business about fifteen years ago. We love the island ambience and the rich history of the area. St. Simons has an abundance of restaurants and activities without all the traffic and hassle of other beach areas. We found our condo and fell in love after looking at many properties all over the island. We love the golf courses at Sea Palms and just walking in the quiet Sea Palms neighborhood. We can also bike to restaurants or the beach with ease on the island trail system.
What makes this Condo unique
While other condos might be a bit closer to the beach, we find that the quiet and privacy of our neighborhood outweighs the proximity. We can easily drive to the beach or the Pier Village (or bike) but can come home to our lovely private home looking out into the trees instead of onto the property next door. The Sea Palms West course is conveniently adjacent to the neighborhood, with a walkable and beautiful nine-hole layout. The Sea Palms Fitness Center, a pool, and tennis courts are just across the parking lot. Just across Frederica Road is the main Sea Palms Resort and Conference Center, where a bar, restaurant, pool, and eighteen-hole golf course are located. The ruins of Fort Fredrica and the beautiful Christ Church are just up the road, for history buffs and explorers. Day trips to the other Georgia Coastal islands are highly recommended, especially Jekyll Island, just a short drive away, where you can visit the Millionaires Cottages built by American tycoons in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century as winter getaways. Jekyll also offers abundant golf on public courses and beautiful public beaches, along with a sea turtle exhibit and a water park. You may never want to leave!

Exceptional place to stay. Nice and quiet surroundings. Spacious rooms. Plenty of rooto move around
Very nice property! So spacious. Well maintained. Everything provided for your needs. Just bring your clothing and groceries. This was our second stay and will certainly return. Definitely recommend it to family and friends.
Thank you. We look forward to having you back to SSI.
This is a perfect place for a golfer. If you are a water person there is about a ten minute drive to the water. Nice deck area to sip your coffee in the morning. First floor codo, but the owners upstairs are only there during the winter months. Neighbors are very friendly. There is plenty of parking as well. Grocery store is about a 5 minute drive.
Thank you for your comments. We love the convenience but neighborhood feel of our home on St Simons. Hope to see you again.
Very nice and simple condo.
Well decorated homely place.
Wonderfully relaxing stay
This was our 4th year of spending a summer week at this lovely condo. As always, our family thoroughly enjoyed it. The condo is well equipped, the beds are very comfortable, and the location is wonderful. It certainly feels like home to us. We spent most mornings at the beach, then afternoons at pool (either walked to the one near house or rode bikes to the clubhouse). Also rode bikes to pier, Fort Frederica and Christ Church. St Simons is a beautiful island - we never get tired of it.
We did enjoy our stay. However, sometimes little things affect your overall ratings.
First, we did enjoy our stay. The large pool and fitness area were great. I cannot remember when the last time that I swim in a pool that was 7 feet deep. The grounds were well maintain. All the conveniences that we needed were available in the condo except Febreze and extra trash bags. When we entered the condo, there was a strong musty odor through out. It did not go away until we purchase Febreze. One lamp in den area was not working. I replace the bulb, but I had no luck. It maybe the switch. My granddaughter was happy with the water bud and small spiders. The musky odor was by far our greatest issue. The mirrors were a real treat. I normally do not see myself that much. The games were a nice treat.
I usually leave a spray bottle of Febreeze in laundry space but not for this reason. This is first comment we have had on the musty odor. It alarms us as this is also our second home and we will look into this immediately. As to garbage bags, the cleaning service provider leaves them. I usually leave an extra box when we are there, but it has been a vey busy summer. I have passed complaint on to cleaners.
The odor was from humidity due to a serious air conditioning malfunction that has now been repaired. I wish you had called us on this.
Fort Frederica and Christ Church (both heavily influenced by John Wesley, the founder of Methodism) are within minutes of our condo. East Beach is a short drive away with an abudance of sports rentals and excursions both on the ocean side of the island and in the marshes on the inland side. Jekyll Island, the private winter retreat of American's millionaire families such as the Cranes, Goodyears, and Rockefellers, is a short drive away and worth a visit. The view from the bridge to Jekyll of the marshes and islands is spectacular.
