Car: Necessary

Historical St Remy with it's famous Wednesday market and home to the Romans, Van Gogh and Nostradamus is full of fine shops, restaurants and cafes.The area is home to many excellent vineyards as depicted in A Good Year by Peter Mayle. There are many other villages close by including Les Baux de Provence with over three million annual visitors, Eygalieres and Maussane. St Remy is also within half an hour's drive of Avignon, Arles, Nimes and The Camargue and within an hour of Marseille, Montpellier and Aix-en-Provence. Golf is available at Mouries (20 minutes) and tennis in the village of St Etienne du Gres. There are many other things to do including horse riding, quad biking, wine tasting at many local vineyards including Domaine Dalmeran which is within walking distance and also offers cookery classes. There are numerous music festivals taking place to satisfy all different tastes (Jazz, Rock, Opera and Classical). Each local village has it's own Summer 'fete' which can be very enjoyable. The Roman ruins at Glanum just outside St Remy are a must see for any keen history students. The annual world famous photographic Exhibition takes place in Arles in August.

About the owner: We are an English couple who moved to Provence from London about 5 years ago. Our two grown up children still live and work in London. Andrew was a Stockbroker in the City and Sandra worked as a negotiator selling overseas property

Why the Owner Chose Mas-Blanc-des-Alpilles, France:
Having holidayed for many years in Provence both near to St Remy and on the coast we loved the area. Once the children were grown up, we decided to move here and start a new life away from the city. We have never looked back!
