We are a family that lives in the GTA. Our son and daughter are in post secondary school and our youngest son is in elementary school. We spend most of the summer and almost every weekend winter and summer at our other cottage in Haliburton and have fallen in love with the Haliburton Highlands!
Danielle and Gerry Visco purchased this cottage in 2008
We purchased our first cottage on this lake system in 2002 after renting in the area and falling in love with Haliburton. After a few years we knew we wanted a quieter location on the system and purchased this property in 2006. We decided to use Viceroy because of their quality of materials and finished this beautiful place in 2008. Now with two children in post secondary we have built a smaller place in the area that we would eventually love to live in full time.
The Lakehouse is located in a very quiet and private area of the Haliburton Highlands but is still close to everything. One of the unique features is being able to boat into Haliburton. We've made many of these trips when the day has been too beautiful to take the car. Motor boat and Seadoo rentals are available at Harper's Marine which we have been doing business with since 2002 and is located just down the lake by boat or on your way in by car. We also enjoy the sunlight we receive all year. There have been a few Easter and Thanksgiving meals enjoyed on the deck because of the sun. We actually needed to purchase a table for the rental because we always ate outside.
This August was our second stay at this spacious and well-appointed cottage. With two grandparents, four parents and five grandchildren under 10, it was an active and fun-filled week. There was enough space for everyone to spread out when they wanted, and two large common areas and a deck for all of us to gather together. The lake was the big attraction and, with hot, sunny days all week, the children especially spent a lot of time in the water. Last year we had difficulty with the drive on the return home when all the weight was in the back. However, in spite of rain the last day this year, our two loaded mini-vans were able to get up the steep drive on the way home, following Danielle's advice to take a running start in low gear and don't let up all the way to the top. A wonderful week with many great memories.
We rented this cottage over the weekend and had a blast! The views were amazing and the property itself is great. The cottage had plenty of room and we thought the beds were very comfortable. We did bring some kitchen supplies butfound that we didn't need them because the kitchen was very well equipped itself. Thank you to Danielle for being so helpful before and during our stay! Would definitely rent this cottage again!
I rented the cottage for this past weekend for a girls getaway for myself and 10 ladies. The cottage was perfect for a group as everyone had a comfortable bed and space to spread out. The view was spectacular and the dock was great for all of us to enjoy the afternoon sunshine. Danielle was super helpful with letting us know what was provided and what we needed to bring but most of those things you don't think about ( cleaning supplies, tin foil etc.. ) were all provided. If I could make one note..don't even want to say complaint but more comment is that the driveway is steep as other reviews mention but it just required some of the girls walking up and meeting the driver at the top. Not really an issue- We needed to work off all those carbs and drinks anyways ;p Overall we loved our experience and would rent again!
The cottage is nice and spacious, and the view from the living room is awesome. But the water supply is very problematic. Basically only the bathroom in the basement provides enough of water pressure for you to take a shower. And there is not enough of water coming out of tap if the dish washer is working. The kitchen is not very well equipped. Bring your own foil paper and parchment paper and sandwich bags.
Absolutely perfect ! The lake house is roomy, perfect for our family of 12. Enough room for the little ones to play and the adults to enjoy. The lake is gorgeous and private enough from other cottages so that you can just relax on the dock. Close enough to town for any mini excursions. The owner couldn't be more accommodating. She answered all emails within a few minutes and was extremely helpful.
We will definitely be back! Thank you for a wonderful week.
Absolutely beautiful place. Location, house, lake - everything is just perfect!!! The owner is an amazing lady always responded quickly to all my email. The cottage is in great condition, clean and fully equipped for all your needs!!!
The only problem we encountered was getting out of the driveway (steep hill) in small cars, 2 of our cars were low sport cars. I definitely recommend this property, for sure will go back!!
We are located halfway between Haliburton and Minden which is a beautiful family cottage area. It has everything you need but is still peaceful for a holiday. There are plenty activities to do summer or winter if just relaxing is not your thing. The Haliburton forest is a wonderful place to visit including the Wolf Centre. Sir Sam's ski resort is great for skiing in the winter or biking in the summer. There's snowmobile and ATV trails close by also.
