Needs TLC

  • 2 of 5

The house is functional however, it needs a very deep cleaning and some attention. All of the floors, walls and radiators need to be thoroughly cleaned. The kitchen was a bit of a disappointment. All of the cookware, dinnerware and silverware was dirty and had to be scrubbed before use. Most of the pots and pans sat directly on the floor under the counters. We had no clean sponges, paper towels or trash bags. The oven did not work and it took us over an hour to bake a pizza. The stove was very difficult to regulate and caused the smoke alarm to go off. It seemed as though everything was simply "surface" cleaned. As I swept up old food from beneath the radiator and found the same under the microwave. Everything just felt grimy. While the house itself is very outdated a deep, thorough cleaning and wifi would go a long way.

Owner's Response: All of our prior reviews have been of a positive nature and we're sorry to hear about your comments and rather than a little taken aback by them. Upon your arrival, we introduced ourselves and requested that you let us know if you needed anything. I wish you would have informed us, so that we could review and immediately correct the operation of the oven and the cleanliness issues. The stove is relatively new and still under warranty but we will have our maintenance person look at it just in case. I am confused about the sponges and the paper towels as I personally left them in the kitchen for your use right before you arrived. We're astounded that you would complain about the condition of the house. You requested to rent the house for 6 professional women looking for a get away weekend which turned out to be a lie, since it was a Bachelorette party! You left food in the refrigerator still in our dishes, empty alcohol bottles throughout the house and overflowing from the trash barrel, broken lampshade in the dining room, and the house basically a disaster! One of your party must have cut themselves on the broken dish that you discretely tried to hide in the trash barrel and left blood on the wall of the stairs and bedding which we probably will have to now have to dispose of. You stayed an hour past check out and only left when the cleaning company arrived. We will however discuss with our housekeeper the cleanliness issues you stated in the review as a follow up. I feel that your comments are due to the to the negative guest review given to you prior to your comments. Oven and burners for the was checked by our maintenance person and found to be in full working order on 8-25-16. Stephanie

Great Place!

  • 5 of 5

This location was perfect and we loved the spacious yard - relative to many others in the area :) There were plenty of areas to allow the teens to do their thing and the adults to do their's without complaints. The walk to the pier wasn't bad at all. I can see how taking all the beach gear along for the walk could be a bit much but drop off and quick walk back to beach by one person in your party shouldn't take more than 10 minutes and worth saving the parking fees. The only small draw back was with my husband who is 6'5" and weighs over 260 ... I believe the bed upstairs is a full and not a queen so sleeping was a bit rough for ME going from a king to full is a little tight :) I will be recommending this rental to many! Thank you Jim

Everything we needed was right there!

  • 4 of 5

It was surprisingly spacious and we had no problems at all. With teenagers and adults involved everyone was able to have their own space. There were three outdoor seating spaces: a front porch, a raised patio with lights for outdoor dining, and an intimate seating space on the side of the house for any private conversations. Inside people could be talking or working at the kitchen table and the kids can be watching TV. It was very clean, had plenty of hot water and lots of small, personal amenities including a Keurig coffee maker! The location was fine, very walkable. I did drive to the beach up at Pine Point just because I liked that beach better. Also kayaked at the Pine Point Nature Sanctuary which was awesome. I would definitely come back again.

Could be cleaner, but overall was nice

  • 3 of 5

House was smaller then it appeared in the images, but still good for a small family or small group of friends. There were good and bad things about the house. It wasn't very clean when we showed up, walking around the house after taking my sandals off I could feel all the dirt/sand left over from previous renters. The first day the owner forgot to turn the hot water on for us so we all were forced to take extremely cold showers. Things got better though, he fixed the hot water and we settled in, I swept every room and it didn't seem so bad. Location was good and you can walk to the beach but you can't walk there if you plan on actually laying on the beach with chairs, a cooler, towels....you can talk a walk there to the boardwalk otherwise it's too far to carry things. There's a front deck that's nice at night, but the lady who lives directly in front of the deck is sketchy and she was putting her ear to the Windows to listen to our conversations and opening her windows to creep on us. Besides those few things that could be better the place is fine.the owner ended up being a good guy and he left us alone so we didn't feel watched over. For the cost it was worth it

quaint, charming had everything there that we needed

  • 4 of 5

The owners live across the street and warmly greeted us upon arrival. Several times we needed to call them about things and they were right there for us as needed. Although it is not real close to the beach, it is a doable , about 15 minute, pleasant walk to the beach and town. We will most likely want to stay there again.
