About Christian Norman
Hi! I am Christian, father of two wonderful boys, Julian (13) and Miles (11). I have been skiing in Mammoth since three years old, my boys have carried on my passion for the Sierra's We hope you enjoy this condo as much as we do!
Christian Norman purchased this Condo in 2013
Why Christian Norman chose Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort
It has always been my dream to own a home in Mammoth and when I started looking, we were surprised by this gem in Timber Ridge. I wanted a place where we could enjoy our time indoors as well as out and in all 4 seasons. Light, bright spaces are top priority! When my realtor showed us unit #33, I could not believe my luck, or the views. When she showed me exactly where Canyon and Eagle were from the condo and that we could ski right down to start our ski day, I may have actually laughed with joy.

Loved this place :)
My husband and I and two girls ages 12 and 11 came up this past April and loved this cozy condo!! The view of the mountains are spectacular!! :). The ski in ski out was a bit tricky but after the first day we figured it out. :))). It was so nice not to have to drive anywhere and come home whenever you want. Beds are super comfortable. Ohh and we did bring our dog Dingo and he loved his walks in the snow. Check in and check out was a breeze. Christian the owner was very accommodating and easy to get in touch with when needed. We will be back next year. :))
Thank you for being dog friendly!
Terrific place. The only bad thing that happened was when my wife grabbed a towel after showering and it had a massive spider on it. Hilarious.
Not all it's cracked up to be in description
I can say I will most certainly never stay at this condo again. Let me break it down:
The location is up a steep hill either by Davidson or Bridges. Multiple cars/SUVs including our own got stuck on both of those hills during our stay. We only got up the hill by having all passengers get out of the car, and then floor the gas up the hill. That left us out of the car to walk ~ ½ mile in the dark snow. Fortunately a cop picked us up and gave us a ride. We were not able to drive anywhere during our stay knowing that we would have trouble getting back up the hill. DO NOT STAY HERE IN WINTER UNLESS YOU HAVE 4WD!
To make matters worse, all of the documentation on VRBO and in the condo state not to call the condo manager, but call Christian anytime. After confirming with Christian via text the day of our arrival, he knew my name and number. I called that night for help getting up the hill and later on how to get into the garage, he didn’t answer or call back. I called/texted multiple times including the next morning and NEVER heard back from him, so we never had access to the garage. If he had some sort of issue where he couldn’t reply, maybe he should hire a property manager so guests aren’t left unassisted.
This is advertised as “Ski-in/ski-out.” It is a lovely “Ski-in” going about ¼ of the way down the hill to the nearest run to Eagle lodge, but it was a miserable hike up hill after skiing to get back to the condo; a very bad “ski-out.” Fortunately I have no small kids, but this would be impossible to get your kids back to the condo from the ski run while carrying all that gear. And no, you couldn’t get a ride (without 4WD) because your car might not make it back up anyway.
I give 2 stars because the condo is nice enough. Some things you should know: The laundry is NOT in the unit but in a shared laundromat for the whole facility. The master bedroom is on the corner with 2 lovely windows. Unfortunately the complex is so well lit near those windows, the room stayed very bright throughout the night, severely disrupting our sleep. Christian should invest in some black out curtains in addition to the blinds that are there, that don’t do a good enough job. The balcony was totally snowed in, so we could not access the BBQ, throwing a wrench into burger night. Every other VRBO I’ve stayed at in a snowy location has always had someone shovel the snow to the BBQ patio, again hire a property manager, or at least pay the cleaning staff to clear the balcony.
My condo is located as high on Mammoth Mountain as you can get. This is ideal for ski in and out as well as the views. In my Overview description on VRBO it clearly states...
" **The road up to the condo is steep and can be icy! You MUST have 4-wheel drive OR chains** "
The HOA has our own tractor to plow the roads so we don't have to wait for the city. This is done daily as needed, all day if needed as well. The ski out trail is groomed by the Mammoth Snow cats.
The BBQ is on the porch in front, not in the snowed in patio in back.
I am very prompt in returning ANY and ALL texts or phone calls, you may have had the wrong number because until I read your review, this was the first I have herd of this.
I guess after six years of renting to wonderful people with many, many return renters, 50 excellent reviews and two bad ones is not too bad.
Top of the Mountain!
We enjoyed our stay at one of the highest condos in Mammoth Lakes. It was quiet, comfortable, not fancy and that was perfect for our family and two dogs. The hot tub was great and the pool ... a bit chilly. Easy drive into town for all of the activities and restaurants.
A great place if you don't mind mice and ants and dog urine
While I think this place has potential, it has been neglected, and our visit was doomed from the start. It really is a shame because we had two great days biking the mountain and really loved the atmosphere in Mammoth Lakes. But this condo really ruined our stay. So much so that we left two days early.
The first issue we had was upon arrival. It was around 90 degrees and all the windows and doors were locked tight. I can understand why. But the place REEKED of urine. Apparently a previous renter had a pup who made quite a mess. So the first night we spent in a 90 degree condo (there was no breeze to cool it down) and were stuck with the urine stench. To Christian's credit, he did get a carpet cleaner in the next day and refunded us the cleaning fee.
That night we tried to do laundry in the clubhouse...the washing machine was broken.
The next morning, while sitting on the well loved (aka old and nasty) couch, I noticed rodent droppings on the cushions. A little surprised, I started looking for more and found multiple areas in the living room and kitchen where there had been a mouse party. I contacted Christian again and he had cleaners come out. Unfortunately the cleaners didn't get half of the rodent droppings, but they did leave some mouse traps on the counter. I contacted Christian again and told him we were not happy and would be leaving early and would like a refund for these days. His response "You are in the mountains, I have no control over the mice...There are also bears in the woods and raccoons...I am not refunding the days you choose to leave early".
The final straw, after spending a awesome and exhausting day on the mountain, we came back to find the entire kitchen covered in ants. We had been very careful to wipe everything down but they still found their way into everything we had.
We left the next day, but not before I cut my foot on the cracked fiberglass in the master bath shower.
Unfortunately I feel like Phillip's trip was doomed from the start because of his attitude and the prior difficult week they had on the road leading up to his stay at my condo. He was unhappy that the roads were being re paved, that there was no breeze, that the button to open the garage door was hard to find, etc. It was one unhappy text after another. I was patient and listened.
None of the windows lock, they simply need to be slid open. Between renters we keep the windows closed, the heat off and the shades closed to keep the sun out. He complained about the smell and that there were mice droppings so I apologized and arranged to have the cleaning company out the very next morning and I made sure they were out doing a fun activity while the unit was being cleaned. I even refunded his cleaning deposit on top of paying the cleaning crew to re visit. I did everything in my power to make his stay a nice one. I did not get a thank you just more unhappy texts. Once he told me he was leaving early and wanted me to refund almost the whole trip, it started to feel like a scam. Whether it was or not, I will never know. I told him that if he chooses to leave early, I will not refund those days. I reminded him that he is in the mountains and not a sterile environment.
There is a reason that I have such a high rating and more importantly so many returning guests. I pay attention to the details and the five years of excellent reviews shows that fact.
Great Access to the Hill!
Our primary reason for staying in this unit was to bring our Husky along. It was the first time he experienced snow and hiking out back was a special treat for him and made our stay extra special! This unit is very cozy and the host was very accommodating.
We are actually ABOVE Canyon and Eagle lodge. This means that skiing, mountain biking, hiking, and snowshoeing is literally right outside out doorstep. You are in the middle of nature ON mammoth mountain. You can't stay in a condo higher up the mountain!
Mammoth Lakes, in the heart of the Eastern Sierras, is a perfect jumping off point for any outdoor enthusiast.
Fishing is legendary in the local lakes and streams. There are 5+ lakes about 10min. up the road with swimming, boating, paddle-boarding, fishing. Rent or bring your bikes as there is a beautiful, downhill paved path through the lake area. Bring a picnic! Rock-climbing is epic all through the area around near the condo or 30 min. away in Owen's River Gorge or the Buttermilks (or El Cap in Yosemite, of course!).
Main Lodge is 10min. away with tons of games, zip-lining, rock climbing wall for the kids and TONS of mountain bike paths for beginners on up! Rentals available. Also from the main lodge is the shuttle to Devil's Postpile National Park. The rock formations and Rainbow Falls should not be missed!
Bodie Ghost Town is about an hour past Mammoth on the scenic 395. it is truly spectacular and authentic. As it is a State Historic Park, it is not a cheesy, theme-park type of destination. This is an expirience you will not forget. Remember to pack lots of water and food. On your way, detour though the June Lake Loop (about 20min. away) for lunch and shopping or spend an entire day enjoying the lake activities. Stop at Mono Lake, about 20 min. past June Lake as well.
The Village is a 5min. drive and has everything you need. There is a Starbucks, shopping, and comfy places to enjoy a book and people watch.Enjoy eating on an outdoor patio of any of the many restaurants while the kids run around in the square playing with the giant chess game, cornhole, or building blocks (adults have been known to join in the fun). The Village, and the town of Mammoth, hosts many different types of entertainment almost every weekend. Check out mammoth's website for more info.
Almost all activities within town can be accessed via the open air trolley. **Dog owners: make sure to remember a muzzle for your dog to be allowed on the trolley**You can walk down the hill to a stop right on Lake Mary Road or drive down and park at the bottom of the hill so you don't have to hike back up!
End everyday cooling off in the huge pool steps away from the condo.
Bishop is 45min. away and has a fun bowling alley with a great diner. Many beautiful hikes minutes away.
NEW 'Cub Club' located in Mammoth at the Sierra Nevada Lodge. Open 7 days per week from 4-9. You can drop the kids off here for free as long as you stay on premises. On premises restaurants include: Jimmy Taverna (fresh, Greek food with excellent wine selection and full bar. Great for a romantic night and groups), Rafters (sports bar and grill food), and Red lantern (chinese). Cub Club is not a cheesy club but provides air hockey, fooseball, movies, and responsible supervision.
We love Roberto's for mexican food and great happy hour prices. Excellent Margaritas!
Giovanni's delivers pizza, buffalo wings, etc. to our unit.
Trail-runners, Jazz and Blues enthusiasts, families, nature-lovers, and snow addicts will never be bored!
