About The Owner

Eve grew up right here on the block, and in fact, much of her family still lives in the Vista Way neighborhood, with her mom still located just a few acres away! She loves reading, music, camping, riding snow mobiles and tries to make time for travel, going to live theatre, and Sunday drives.

The Owner purchased this house in 2012

Why The Owner chose Alaska

My brother designed and built this house. I feel like I have a dream kitchen, and take a lot of pride in my brother's tile work throughout the house. We hope you can come and enjoy the space, the comfort, and the privacy available at Vista Valley Guest House, just a gorgeous 15 minute drive from Fairbanks.

Great sunny deck and view!

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed here for my daughter's college graduation from UAF. The house was well stocked with everything we needed and we had plenty of room for 8 guests. Our host Erin was extremely helpful, friendly and responsive to our needs.

Beautiful property!

  • 5 of 5

A group of friends and I had the pleasure of staying at this home for two nights. It's very close to Fairbanks with the added bonus of being secluded, which is perfect for viewing the Northern Lights! The house is well equipped and Erin was more than happy to answer any questions we had. I would highly recommend this property!

Delightful!

  • 5 of 5

This home is warm and comfortable. We were here for 3 nights to view the northern lights so it was a snowy cold time. It was just far enough out of town to be away from the "city" lights yet near restaurants. The bedrooms and bathrooms met our needs (except our mattress was soft so we met in the valley of it every night). The kitchen and living areas were functional and pleasant. Our only problem was that the owner requests that shoes be taken off upon entry and there's no place to do so. The front door opens onto a very small space with tiled flooring after which the living room is covered with white carpet. Very difficult to not freeze your feet outside and keep snow boots off the carpet! Otherwise, the house was perfect.

This is a great getaway and a great place to spend time with friends and family! Got to view the northern lights right from the yard. The house was well kept and very cozy and welcoming.

Nigh-perfect spot for Aurora viewing!

  • 5 of 5

Were part of Catherine C.'s party. Can't really imagine a much better spot for aurora viewing! A mere 6 miles, as the crow flies, from the airport, yet isolated by intervening ridges and high enough above the community of Ester, we noticed only negligible light pollution, even during the periods of dense cloud cover. Thrilled to report that despite generally overcast skies and even an overnight snow shower, we experienced the aurora each of the 3 nights we stayed at this lovely spot. 3 nights, at least 4 distinct manifestations of the lights. Wow!!! {As a super plus,we experienced an almost perfect lack of noise pollution, too. On only 1 occasion did we hear even one vehicle while sky-watching.)

We found accurate weather information for the house at weatherunderground.com, (Ester, AK). Good aurora info at http://www.gi.alaska.edu/AuroraForecast/travelers-guide and http://www.gi.alaska.edu/AuroraForecast. We also found the "My Aurora Forecast" app (jRuston Apps), both apple & android, to be very helpful. It will give you a programmable alarms when predicted activity is high.

Although I just waxed about the isolation, this house is wonderfully convenient and close to town, The Ester gas has a well stocked convenience store with beer, wine, & liquor It's an easy 4 mile drive down the hill from the house. The Fred Meyer (astounding Alaska institution) by the airport is only about 10 miles and 15 minutes from the house. Likewise, numerous restaurants & watering holes.

Despite the generally snowy conditions. we deep-southerners had few issues with driving & traction (and what few issues we had were down the hill closer to town).

As others have previously noted, the owner's description of property and amenities were all spot-on. We found the fridge pretty well stocked including still-fresh milk, an onion or two & lots of condiments. We won the coin flip & got the upstairs bedroom with en suite bath. Found our queen bed very comfortable.

Never had any issues with the water (house is way up a hill & not on municipal water - too high for a well it seems - therefore owners see to it that tank i s regularly filled). Were always conscious not to waste water, but always felt there was lots available.

We give this lovely property our highest recommendation. Best wishes with your sky-watching or summer getaway! I feel confident you, too will very much enjoy this fine house & its super location.

Great stay in Fairbanks!

  • 5 of 5

We were a group of 3 couples traveling from Louisiana to Alaska for the Northern Lights. This home provided everything we could have wanted. It was warm and comfortable. The location was close to town but far enough away to avoid city lights. The kitchen and common areas were relaxing. The bedrooms were small but adequate. Our only small complaint was having a white carpet right at the front door necessitating removal of boots in a tiny space. It was hard to not get snow w on the carpet! Otherwise, all was good. We saw the lights and had lots f fun.
