About the property

Farmhouse, Sleeps 6, Home is not set up to accommodate children under 16.

This beautiful 3 bedroom and 2 ½ bath home is located on a paved private road ½ mile off of West Dry Creek Road and just 4 miles from downtown Healdsburg. It is great walking and biking country. If you are a biker bring your bike and enjoy the experience of seeing Dry Creek Valley by riding one of the premium bike roads, West Dry Creek. West Dry Creek is also home to about a dozen wineries, including Everett Ridge, Quivira, Lambert Bridge, Bella, Preston and more.

Sonoma County license 1099N. Rates are set up to add Sonoma County taxes. Sonoma County limits are 6 people maximum sleeping in the home and no more than 10 people at any time on the property. Quiet hours are from 10 PM to 7 AM and are to be observed by all guests.

Home is located on 20 acres of mostly hillside land with majestic oaks, bay laurels and wild grasses. There are two acres of Cabernet Sauvignon planted on the property. The grapes are sold to Jackson Hole winery in Wyoming. You might be lucky and see wild boar, bobcat, wild turkeys, coyote and deer. Since the property is not fenced, the deer think they own the place and wander through at will. You can tell by the hoof prints on the Bocce court.

The home has a large kitchen with inside and outside dining areas. The kitchen has a six burner Dacor cooktop, two large ovens and a large microwave, an extra large dishwasher, side-by-side refrigerator, toaster oven, coffee maker, two warming drawers, double sinks, and even a wood burning cast iron stove. You will also enjoy the great views looking out onto the hillside where you can catch glimpses of the local wildlife.

The indoor dining room seats 10 and there is a table in the kitchen that easily seats six for those who want to chat with the chef or for a casual meal. There are two outdoor dining tables, one on the deck that will seat 6 comfortably and 8 in a pinch. A second one on the terrace seats 8 comfortably while you are watching an active game of bocce.

If you like to cook you will appreciate the extensive herb selection, olive oils and vinegar. The dining room is separated from the kitchen / family room by beautiful pocket doors with glass panels. There is a built in china cupboard in the dining room and a lovely chandelier. The family room area off the kitchen has a reclining leather love seat, a reclining reading chair and a 50 inch Sony TV with DirecTV service. There is a cast iron stove that can be used for heating and general ambiance.

There are French doors leading from the kitchen / family room area onto the oversize deck. On the deck is a Weber gas BBQ that is hooked up to the propane tank that is used by the home for heating. The deck has a love seat and two arm chairs that are metal and have cushions plus multiple other chairs that can be used with the glass top table or just for relaxing. Going down from the deck there is a lovely outdoor seating area with a round teak dining table and chairs, service cart, plus additional small tables and chairs and benches. There is a tree swing and a bocce court with teak benches and tables at each end.

Off to the side of the deck is a 6 person “Hot Spring” Spa that is very private and has a lovely view of the hillside. There is an outdoor shower near the hot tub where you can quickly shower before getting into the hot tub and rinse off after you get out.

The master bedroom is upstairs and has a cal king sled bed with 540 count sheets, down comforter, and coordinated duvet cover and decorative pillows. There is a seating area with a comfortable reading chair and an antique wooden bench. Off the master bedroom is a deck with beautiful vistas. There are two chairs with cushions for you to enjoy the morning sunrise or just to sit and enjoy the view. The tiled master bath has two sinks and a large tile tub / shower combination with a new ‘Speakman’ shower head.

The two other bedrooms are downstairs. Each has a queen bed with down comforter and coordinated duvet cover and decorative pillows. Both have closets with build in shelves, a supply of coat hangers and a luggage rack. They share a tiled bathroom with a shower / tub combination with a new ‘Speakman’ shower head.

The interior of the home was professionally painted by a painter trained in Switzerland and has 17 different colors throughout the home. There is wireless interest service in the home but no local phone so you will need to use your cell phone.

The property has a seasonal creek the flows in winter, spring and early summer. The outdoor mood lights wash the front of the house and come on automatically at dusk lighting up a gorgeous oak tree, three redwood trees, and pathways to the house. The lights in the back have a manual switch and light up two beautiful oaks, a large walnut tree, barn, and pathways.

I have owned property in Healdsburg since 1992 and have been involved in the wine industry since 1993. Let me know if you need recommendations for wineries, restaurants, or other activities.

Come enjoy a fabulous home only four miles from downtown Healdsburg.

About Cheri Kratka

I am a second generation California. Started to buy property in Healdsburg in 1992 and moved to Healdsburg in 1999. I travel and use VRBO myself to book accommodations so know what I like to find in my rentals (all the things you would not want to buy yourself, like ground coffee, spices, paper products, etc). My home is stocked with most everything you will need except fresh food items.

Cheri Kratka purchased this farmhouse in 1997

Why Cheri Kratka chose Russian River

This beautiful home has all the benefits of wine country life; views, quiet and charm yet it is only 4 miles to downtown Healdsburg. The decor has been selected by a professional decorate and the owner to make it comfortable, relaxing and appealing whether you are inside or outside the home. This property is not set up to accommodate people under 16. Sonoma County regulations only allows for maximum of 6 people to spend the night and for a maximum of 10 people at any one time to be on the property and does not allow for special events to be held on the property - like weddings.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Fabulous kitchen, deck and outdoor patio with bocce and spa and a tree swing. Great places to go for walks and ride bikes. When you travel what do you like to do? I enjoy feeling like a special visitor to an area or one of the natives. My home is a wonderful place to do both. I love to cook and entertain and my home is set up to do that. A great selection of spices, oils and vinegars and staples like pasta, rice, quinoa, coffee, sugar, and flour. You just need to bring your fresh ingredients.

Exactly what a busy family from LA needed!

  • 5 of 5

Our family wanted a quiet vacation to reconnect and relax together. We did exactly that in this beautiful home on a private drive in Healdsburg. We truly enjoyed our time together competing on the bocce court, board games and music on the decks, and cooking meals in the large, open kitchen.

Cheri greeted us and quickly walked us through her home which had everything we needed allowing us to start our relaxing vacation immediately.

The home is perfectly located allowing us to enjoy the privacy, yet close enough for a quick trip (less than 10 minutes) into town or to visit local wineries.

We feel lucky to have found such a special place and would highly recommend it!

Perfect for our family of four

  • 5 of 5

This gem of a house was clean and comfortable and in a really sweet, quiet location adjacent to charming vineyards. The outside areas are comfortable, peaceful and beautiful and we even exchanged meows with the barn cat.

The right thing to do.

  • 5 of 5

In order to guarantee the opportunity for myself and traveling companions the opportunity to stay at this gem again, I would write horrible things about it. However that is not the right thing to do.

Due to business in the area I was able to get a sneak peak of the property prior to my wife and friends. Based on my feedback we canceled three dinner reservations so that we could cook and enjoy the amazing patio, landscape and wildlife hillside meadow. Traveling with a chef we greatly appreciated the well appointed gourmet kitchen and high end appliances. We started and ended our days with a soak in the hot tub and played bocce will enjoying our recent purchases. Well all commented several times how jealous we all were that it was not out diamond!

No question we will rent this property again!

Healdsburg home for Christmas

  • 5 of 5

We ventured into our first vacation home rental experience over Christmas with Home Away and this gorgeous Healdsburg farm house. Located on a beautiful rolling hill vineyard and adjacent a forest of tall pines and redwoods typical of the area. It was a very peaceful idyllic site. The home itself is spacious, (we had five people), with a well appointed large gourmet kitchen. An added bonus was that it had a well stocked condiment/spice pantry and liquor cabinet. Although it was raining and near freezing during our trip which precluded us enjoying the spacious deck and back grounds (BBQ, Hot Tub, etc.), it would be worth a trip in warmer months to explore it. The home was clean and very tastefully furnished and decorated which made it feel like a home and not a hotel. The owner was very accommodating and friendly. The area is replete with wineries, restaurants and even two casinos for your enjoyment. All in all we would come back and would definitely recommend it to friends.

Exceeds expectations!

  • 5 of 5

We highly recommend this wonderful country home in a convenient location to access Healdsburg shopping, dining, hiking, etc.and numerous high quality wineries but you may not feel like leaving this beautiful setting in a vineyard! There was a welcome sign on the door with our name and the owner greeted us to answer any questions. This was a perfect house for our family Thanksgiving (large kitchen & 2 ovens!) with a variety of rooms for gathering or space to yourself to rest or read. The rooms are more spacious than they appear in the photos and there are high ceilings with several skylights.
