House, 4 Bedrooms, 3 Baths
About Mary Johnson
We purchased this home on the lake as a retreat from busy lives and away from crowds. We have renovated kitchens, carpets, bedrooms and all bathrooms to feel like your own home. We liked the fact we have seen three generations of moose families grow up on our back lawn.
Mary Johnson purchased this House in 2007
Why Mary Johnson chose Grand Lake
We have lived in several resort mountain towns in Colorado including Breckenridge, Summit County and in other homes in Grand County. This one has an amazing views of true untouched Colorado wilderness, and we can sit on our dock on the water to watch fish jump in the glorious evening sunsets. And we left the crowds behind. Sorry, no outlet malls near here! We are close to Winding River wedding venue and the Grand Lake lodge as well as the village of Grand Lake.
What makes this House unique
Unobstructed viewing of the Milky Way after sunset is a plus. Remarkable wildlife viewing from the deck that we never saw on our expeditions to Alaska. We can hike in Rocky Mtn National Park, hear the elk bugle, and be back home in our home within 20 minutes. Its the best of what Colorado was at the turn of the last century, a true west experience. Coffee in the morning watching fish jump at sunrise from the couch makes life worth living at Moose Lodge. We ask guests to keep the community quiet and observe quiet hours from 7pm to 7am.

Great location, excellent house
We needed a place close to trails with room for 2 couples for a few days. The house is lovely and clean and has terrific deck space, which we used a lot. The view over the lake is great too. Having one set of rooms downstairs with their own sitting room and a master suite upstairs kept us from feeling "too close" to each other! The kitchen was great- a large table and great appliances and equipment. Overall, a really wonderful spot. The 4-stars instead of 5 on communication is just because I had sent an email prior to the visit asking a question and didn't get a response; we assumed they were probably traveling as well and couldn't answer; we got all of the info we needed to check in etc., in a timely way. Oh, and we got to watch the bull moose take a nap in the yard one afternoon and then walk into the lake for a drink-very fun!
MOOSE ON THE LOOSE!
Pictures were accurate. Property was immaculate and what a great doc to the lake.
One of the beast parts was morning coffee watching the moose eat shrubs in the back yard.
We for sure will be staying there again.
We are glad you had a good time and we’re able to experience moose sightings!!
Easy access to town. House is very comfortable and grandkids loved the lake. The Johnsons are very responsive to any issues that may arise.
Comfortable relaxing lake house
We chose this house as a gathering for our family. We felt at home right away as the place was inviting and comfortable. The views of the lake were wonderful and we enjoyed hours of boating and paddle boarding daily. The proximity to Rocky Mountain National Park is a huge plus. There are multiple hiking trails to explore and on one day alone we saw 14 Moose. Also nearby was the town of Grand Lake which was a pleasure to visit and explore. We would definitely return to this home again. Many memories were made in a short period of time.
We are so glad you had a good time. Thanks for the review.
We all (kids and grandkids) had a great time! The house is well appointed and roomy.
Thanks for coming back. Glad you had a good time. Large Bull moose at the house in the yard after you left.
Great house, location and owner.
Our families annual vacation, ages 12 to 82 could not have been better. The house was absolutely perfect. Had everything we needed and was very comfortable. The location on a private lake was great. What a view! One of the highlights was a large moose just a few feet off the deck on two mornings. We saw over 10 during our 6 day stay. One of my son’s and my grandson caught several fish in Lake Columbine. We rented a pontoon boat, a four wheeler, rode horses and hiked in Rocky Mountain National Park, which is a real treasure, and our cabin was only minutes away. Ate at some fantastic restaurants. The only problem was that we did not stay long enough and had to go back to Dallas where the temperature was 110, but we will be back. Colorado may be the most beautiful state in the Nation. Highly recommend this property
Glad you had a wonderful time! Hope to see you back again.
