Architectural and design highlights include original beautifully restored hardwood floors, deck railing hand made from recovered local eucalytus trees, fossilized limestone countertops, basalt and limestone bathroom with rain and hand showers and jacuzzi tub, and solatube skylights. Watch all the recreational activities of the bay from surfing to kayaking from your bedroom, covered lanai and around the grounds, all overlooking the water's edge where you can share a swim, share a romantic sunset or practice morning yoga. About Michael Evans
This property has been owned by the same family since 1946.
Michael Evans purchased this House in 1946
Why Michael Evans chose Keauhou
The property is unique on Keauhou Bay, is within walking distance of all luxury amenities, and is peaceful and stunningly beautiful.
What makes this House unique
The location is convenient to island excursions or a secluded romantic vacation on Keauhou Bay.
The Cottage was well maintained as are the grounds it is built on. Everything about our our stay was met to our expectations. The bay is a bit busy with tourist boats and there is actually a public access next to the property, so the beachfront is not very private, but very convenient.
We would recommend this property to others, but be aware of the neighboring public access.
A perfectly lovely Cottage with a beautiful view
We found this home to be well-stocked, comfortably decorated and centrally located. The master bedroom was quite comfortable and the fold-out couch accommodated our third party guest quite well. The kitchen was well stocked with dry goods and condiments which made cooking in the home a pleasure. We enjoyed the openness of the floor plan and being able to access the water so easily. We enjoyed our time at this property very much!
The only thing we found mildly annoying was the close proximity to the Sheraton property. The Sheraton's water access point is shared by this private property which meant that we we're subject to the noise from Sheraton Property guests getting in and out of the water. Families with excited children could get rather loud and would stay for several hours at a time. This close proximity also meant that at times we would find curious Sheraton guests wandering around the property.
The property is a lovely get away!
We loved the beautiful wood deck with chaise lounges to overlook the spacious garden and trees providing a private filter to the bay. Michael and his friend Travis were very accommodating.
I think the property is best suited for two or a family as the bathroom has the one entrance through the bedroom unless you were to go around to the outside entrance to the bathroom. There is a fold out sofa bed in the living room.
The kitchen is well stocked with dishes and appliances.
Great place to stay
Great place in a beautiful location just south of Kona. House has everything you would need. Michael was extremely helpful.
This is a special place! Stayed on Michael's property for a week in October and had an exceptional time. The location is ideal for exploring the island but why would you want to leave when you have the ocean and the view right from the lanai of this idyllic spot. Would definitely recommend staying here and Michael is the perfect host!
Just what we needed!
We loved every minute: A daily morning snorkel off the back patio, the oh-so-comfy king bed, the very well stocked kitchen, the fresh tropical fruit in the yard, the available air conditioning on a few very warm days, and of COURSE the gracious host. We will definitely be contacting Michael again for any future trips to Kona. Mahalo!
This spacious one bedroom home features modern amenities amid the seclusion of one acre of beautifully landscaped grounds and more than 300 ft of privately accessible oceanfront. Located on the south side of Keauhou Bay, it is recently restored and is now in it's fourth generation of same-family ownership since 1946. This residence is part of the Evans Estate which is the only next door neighbor to the Sheraton Kona Resort and Spa at Keauhou Bay on an acre of private and exotic oceanfront landscape. Architectural and design highlights include original hardwood floors, deck railings expertly crafted from local salvage eucalyptus trees, fossilized limestone countertops, and a basalt and limestone bathroom with a 12' Hans Grohe rain shower and jacuzzi tub. The gardens offer horticulturalists a chance to test their knowledge of native species and sample vegetables from our organic gardens. Guests are offered seasonal fruits which grow on the premises including mangos, guavas, breadfruit, bananas, oranges, tangerines, Surinam cherries, pomelos, papayas and many others which you may find during your stay.
