Beautiful cottage on a quiet lake

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a gorgeous week up at the lake and all of the kids absolutely loved it and want to go back! The sandy beach was a hit and the shallow water was a great place to play. The property was clean and tidy and quite comfortable for all of us. We will definitely be going back :) Thank you for a week of beautiful memories!

Amazing Sunsets!!

  • 5 of 5

Spent a weekend with friends and everyone had a great time. Loved kayaking, swimming from a beautiful beach, late night camp fires and BBQ's. The accommodations were excellent, one of the best cottages we have stayed at. Would definitely return!!

Perfect in many ways

  • 5 of 5

What a stunning place and for us, so perfect for our small children although could take quite a few more people than just us 4. The property is right on the lake front, no steps to navigate, the beach is sandy and not stony. The lake goes out for a long way before you would need to worry about children which meant they could play and we didn't have to be right on top of them... even meant we could read a book for the first time in a long time. Nice families close by to play with too. The property was tidy, clean and equipped with everything you would need. The owner was really helpful and provided linens and towels as we were from abroad. We stayed 2 weeks and had a few very rainy/ stormy days but kids were happy to have games and movies days - good job really as there isn't really anywhere to go with them nearby in rainy weather. Make sure you stock up on groceries on the way as the nearest decent supermarket is 30 minutes away. Would definitely go again, only trial was the long 6 hrs drive there from Paris Ontario - but that's the 401 for you.

Just Amazing

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a week in mid July - gorgeous weather, warm water, beautiful view and an amazing cottage. Everything is just as it looks in the pictures - clean and very well kept. The beach is great! Lots of sand for little builders and nice and shallow for the little ones.

The owners are very responsive and make sure that every detail is tended to.

My daughter has already asked if we can go back to her "cottage home" next summer! :)

September Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Our group consisted of 6 adults and two young children. We found the property to be clean and well maintained. It looked just like the photos! ( We were greatly relieved as this was our first VRBO experience) The weather wasn't the warmest during our stay but we still had opportunities to enjoy paddling on the lake and playing in the sand with our grandchildren. The water was so crystal clear and the beachfront access to the lake was extremely shallow and afforded us the luxury of being a little more relaxed when we were on the beach with our young granddaughters. The girls really enjoyed walking to the sandbar and playing. We had great fun building Wilbur and Charlotte in the sand after they viewed Charlotte's Web for the first time at the cottage. We found the owner provided us with very detailed and useful information and was prompt to respond to any of our emails. We enjoyed visiting the neighbouring communities and found Bancroft had quite a few interesting shops. We also paid a visit to Graphite Bible Camp and enjoyed the tour the two gentlemen offered us there.

We found having a bedroom and bathroom with walk in shower on the main level worked well for our group as our son had a broken leg and was on crutches. The upstairs bedroom with the two double beds was a good size for our daughter and son-in-law to share with their two young daughters. The bedroom with the queen size bed had a lovely view of the lake and was a generous size with ample storage space. We found the beds very comfortable but would suggest exchanging the double beds for queen size beds if you were considering buying new mattresses in the future. Our son-in-law is 6' 2" and found he was hanging off of the bed and our son and daughter-in-law are also accustomed to a larger bed. The size of a double bed was appropriate for the grandchildren. However, we would not refrain from renting in the future because of the bed sizes. The cottage was lovely and well equipped. We all had a wonderful time together and made many happy memories.

Car: necessary

Travel time is approx. 3 hours from Toronto and 2.5 hours from Ottawa or Kingston.

Locally (5KM west), the small town of Maynooth offers necessities, an LCBO, a charming diner and a few very interesting antique\art\craft shops. Another 20 minutes away is Bancroft for everything from fine and casual dining, major grocery stores, Canadian Tire, Marinas, DQ(!) and anything else you could want on your vacation. Bancroft has all the big town amenities yet the charm of a cottage town. Also in reasonable proximity are many quaint small towns, Algonquin Park, White Water Rafting and a variety of historical sites. There is a gas station 5 minutes from the cottage. Head 20 minutes east and you're in the beautiful Madawaska Valley and the quaint and lively (in the summer :-) ) town of Barry's Bay. Many interesting shops and historical sites in this early Polish Settlement.
