Travis & Laurie
About Travis & Laurie
We purchased our Pelee house in 2015, the year before our daughter Pearle (pictured) arrived on the scene. Walking into this property for the first time--even though we purchased it in an extreme state of disrepair--was a true moment of "love at first sight" for both of us. Standing in the living room and looking out at the grass and the trees and the lake, we couldn't help but think that some things are more important than sanity and money, so we we made a bold decision to buy the house and never look back. Renovating the house over the last two years has been a labor of love, and we're excited to share our efforts with you. We hope that when you walk in, you get that same feeling we had the first time, and that you can feel the love and care we put into making it a home.

Lovely roomy cottage with amazing view of lakes sunsets
Beauty cottage. We fit 8 adults no problem playing cards around the dining table. Upstairs there is no railing and one bathroom on main level. With septic we just flushed when necessary. Lots of videos available and stations. Great time
Charming cottage in a perfect location
We stayed in this charming home in June , and thoroughly enjoyed the location, the space and the lovely touches in this well appointed, comfortable home. Deceivingly small from the outside, the two bedrooms on the main floor were comfortable and well furnished, while the two bedrooms upstairs were impressively large. Good quality furniture, linens, and kitchen items make this rental better than most. It's worth mentioning the stairs to the upstairs bedrooms are steep and a bit slippery, so perhaps not well suited to the very young or very old. We had a wonderful visit, and would recommend staying here!
Property is in a great location. Walking distance to bakery and to General store. Clean and has everything you need!
Perfect spot on a beautiful island . . . stepping back in time.
This was a very relaxing, low-key, quiet holiday . . . exactly what we all needed! Peele Island is indeed a treasure.
The hosts are very responsive, and provided lots of information about the cottage as well as the area. It was nice to come in when we first arrived to find snacks on the table! The whole place was very clean and comfortable with lots of room in the kitchen, living room, and bedrooms. All the appliances were handy and in good working order, and the large, round table was perfect for meals as well as afternoon and evening games. There was an abundance of linen and beautiful warm quilts (which came in handy during the cold nights of our early Spring stay). We all slept very well.
One thing to be aware of is there is no handrail on the stairs going up to the two large two-bed bedrooms on the second floor; this is worth knowing but not a problem as those who would need a railing can easily use one of the two lovely queen-bed bedrooms on the first floor.
The view of the lake is completely unobstructed and beautiful.
We were warned that the grounds would be wet at this time of year (after very heavy rains) and so we were happy we came prepared with rain boots and assorted gear.
The folks on the island - both those who live there as well as visitors - are extremely friendly. We had amazing walks on the many nature trails. These trails are groomed in a way the sustains their natural nature . . . so wear good shoes and be a little mindful of your footing. There are so many birds of so many different varieties . . . . if you stand still for just a moment the sights and sounds of the forest and the waves take you away to another place and time. Quite magical!
As it was early in the season (and mid-week) when we visited there were only a very few places open, but we came prepared with lots of our own food (and there are many places to shop in Leamington on your way over). The Bakery is amazing, and a perfect place for a morning latte /coffee/tea and fresh baked pastries or for a light lunch or snack (not open Wednesdays). The little ice cream (and so much more) place by the ferry dock called Cones has THE best milk shakes. Even on a cool day, this is not to be missed.
All in all, this is a beautiful, well-cared for cottage, owned by thoughtful and very nice hosts, in a perfect spot on a lovely island a short (90 minute) easy ferry ride away.
We will definitely be back!
Wonderful! Everything you need for a memorable stay on Pelee Island!
The cottage is very comfortable and larger than expected from pictures. Even with some rainy weather there was a large selection of dvds and games to play. The beds were comfortable and cottage was clean. Travis was quick to respond with any questions. We enjoyed bonfire in front yard and using the bbq on the back deck and sitting on the deck at the lake . Our family enjoyed our weekend and we recommend this home and look forward to staying again when we go to Pelee Island.
Wonderful home incredibly clean beautiful view and this came with hot and humid weather plus fans
