About the property

Beautiful home with private secluded garden and pool, 2 beds and 2 baths.

Charming Provencal property at the foot of the Luberon Forest and National Park.

L'Art du Temps is a charming little jewel situated in the golden triangle of the Luberon near to Gordes, Menerbes (5 mins), Bonnieux, Lacoste (20 mins) and 25 mins from St Rémy. Only 10 mins from the nearest main axe and highway.

This delightful property, nestled behind old stone built walls, invites you to enoy peace and quiet far from the maddening crowd and the Luberon Forest and Mountains behind it protect it from the whistling Mistral winds.

Over the last 20 yrs the owner has slowly added provencal decor discovered in antique fayres that blend in perfectly with the beautiful garden. Tomato plants, fruit trees and aromatic plants thrive happily amongst the poteries and ancient jarres, century old olive trees and bird cages belonging to the 19th century. An unusual mixture of old and modern.

The delightful pool can be lit up at night times and is great for cooling down near the pool house where a fully equipped summer kitchen with bbq and stone table await you for delicious meal times. There is also a shower and WC near the pool area as well as a pretty stone fountain.

Very romantic and relaxing with garden furniture and sunloungers. The garden and summer kitchen boast a fresh, cool temperature at night times.

On entering the ground floor of this exquisite villa you will find a spacious long lounge and dining area with an open plan kitchen. Fully equipped with fabulous Lacanche oven and american fridge. Dining table and comfortable lounge area with leather canapés and French doors that open out onto the shady terrace. There are two pretty double bedrooms with king size beds (they can be separated into singles if necessary) and plenty of cupboard space, light and airy, cool and comfortable. One has bay windows that open out onto the pretty garden and pool with views over the Luberon Mountains in the background.

These two bedrooms share a spacious, pretty and practical bathroom with italien shower, bathtub, washbasin and separate WC. (Extra Shower room near pool)

There is plenty of storage space for shopping and lovely dishes and plates, glassware and pans for cooking.

There is a separate laundry room with washer and ironing facilities.

The house is decorated with art works and numerous Provencal oil paintings. The owner, a stone scultpure artist has turned this amazing home into a haven of peace and wonderful spot for a holiday. This is the ideal spot for small families, hikers, walkers or cyclists who wish to discover the Forest and national Park or for those who just want to relax and rest.

Ideally situated for visiting the Provence and Luberon, 5 mins from the nearest supermarkets and stores, weekly markets and 30 mins from Avignon TGV station.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Thank you Beverly, we had a wonderful time in Provence and Franck’s house was perfect. We loved the garden and pool and it was such a lovely home to come back to after exploring the local sights. Franck has a real eye for things and we took so many pictures of his beautiful property. We would recommend it and would love to come back someday for another vacation. It was so nice being able to pick our own tomatoes and figs from the garden. We especially appreciated the special added touches Franck left for us on our arrival. The wine, honey, flowers, milk and juice were put to good use. We loved cooing in the very well stocked kitchen. Thanks again, Lori and John

A wonderful time had by all!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Franck's place for two weeks in June/July and had a wonderful time. The house is very clean and well equipped, and the pool was great - perfect for those hot Provencal days with clear skies and gentle breezes. The bottles of wine on arrival and fresh flowers each week were a very nice touch - made us feel even more welcomed. We're already looking forward to our next stay!

Exquisite property and fantastic stay!

  • 5 of 5

We spent three fantastic weeks in Cheval Blanc. It is ideally located for short trips throughout the region. Visited some of our favorite haunts, brought back lots of local market specialties and cooked some great meals. The kitchen is very well appointed. The owner is charming and very eager to ensure that you have everything you need and then some. There were several welcoming bottles of wine and fresh apple juice, flowers changed weekly and a garden that was truly a great venue for relaxing and, in my case, creating several art works while enjoying the array of interesting antiques, trees and flowers. We would recommend the house in a heartbeat. Actually, we have done so to several people already. We plan to return as soon as we can.

A perfect home base for Provence

  • 5 of 5

After spending several weeks traveling across Europe, my wife and I needed a break. We decided to spent a week in Provence in one location from where to explore the area. This house was the perfect place. It's quiet, impeccably clean, and very well stocked. In fact, we liked the house so much, that on several days, we never even left! We loved going to the local markets, buying ingredients, and cooking at home. On other days, we were only 15-30 minutes from the best areas Provence has to offer. The hosts are wonderful and warm people, who are always available, but never intrusive. Our stay at this home was one of the highlights of our trip.

Heaven in Cheval Blanc

  • 5 of 5

We had two amazing weeks here. The grounds are so beautiful with the variety of plants, flowers and trees. The design and flow of the property takes you on a serene journey. There is a surprise at every turn and it doesn't disappoint. The little vignettes so appropriately placed throughout the grounds provides a different view that allows you to escape further. The interior of the home is so tastefully appointed with just the right balance of antique and modern. Small touches like antique door closures and carved wooden wardrobes contribute to the very comfortable and cozy home. The experience here was really what we were seeking- peace and tranquility and a great base from which to explore the Luberon area.

Perfect Escape

  • 5 of 5

We have the most wonderful time at this beautiful home in Provence. After busy travel around France for a week, we were thrilled to arrive at this beautiful home in Provence for a relaxing stay. We chose this home because of the location and the garden with swimming pool and we were not disappointed. The property was amazing! The bedrooms were quite comfortable and the fans were super for a good night's rest. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook some fabulous meals. We thoroughly enjoyed the outside cooking and eating areas and had coffee, lunch and dinner outside each day. The home was centrally located and made it easy to visit many nearby towns each day. Our favorite towns were L'Isle Sur La Sorgue and Gordes. Beverly was very helpful from the beginning and once we arrived and met the owners they were quite helpful as well. We really enjoyed our visit with them. The love that the owners have put into this home is quite apparent. It was very hard to leave after a super week.

A Hidden Gem in the Luberon

  • 5 of 5

We had an incredible stay at this property. The house was perfect for 4 adults. From the time we first met Franck, the owner, and Beverly, the property manager, our stay was perfect. The house is beautifully decorated with all of the modern conveniences one needs in a home. I have rented a number of properties before on VRBO but this is the first time that the home in person was better than the pictures online!!! Franck and Veronique met us and eagerly showed us all of what the property has to offer. The pool area, outdoor kitchen, along with numerous spots to relax outdoors were amazing. You truly felt surrounded by all of the beauty Provence has to offer. The bedrooms were spacious with ceiling fans and ample storage space and the windows even had screens, a rare find in Europe! Even though the owner lived on the premises, we never once knew he was there.

This house is a perfect spot to explore the Luberon area. Avignon, St. Remy, Isle sur Sorgue, Menerbes and Roussillon are all within a short drive to explore. We even drove to Cassis for the day which was about a 2 hour drive from the house.

Each of my fellow travelers look forward to returning to this beautiful spot in Provence- a true gem!!!!!
