About Gigi Polk

We put our heart & soul into our Hawaii Unit. It was remodeled with Hawaiiana Design. We retired and moved to Hawaii for the winters. I came from Buffalo, NY & Cape Cod, MA. My husband from Northern CA. This is a golfers paradise (ask my husband... wink wink ;p) as well as a beach tropical dream. We split our time in Kona & Cape Cod. We rent it out when we are not here. Therefore you will find it CLEAN & NEAT with many small appliances for your needs. Although it is small and the kitchen smaller, it meets our needs. Having the Ocean waves right out the door is what makes it so special. Some of these units at The Islander are not up to par as is ours. We take pride in our unit and reputation. The grounds on the other hand are unbelievably gorgeous and tropical Hawaiiana and well kept. Banana trees onsite and occasionally in lobby you can get some local fruit from the trees! We do BBQ very often and meet people at the pool, hot tub area and it is so much fun. It is quiet and security is amazing. 10 CUBIC FRIDGE! fridge with freezer. (see pics)

Why Gigi Polk chose Kailua-Kona

Kona is laid back. Not the busy hustle and bustle of the city. It has wonderful restaurants and beaches all over the place. It is hard to decide which one to go to.

What makes this condo unique

Being Downtown has it's advantages. You can walk to everything & work off all of the great food. Parking is limited so it's great to not even deal with a car. I have a moped for fun. You can rent them downtown too.

Visit Black, White & Green Sand beaches on Big Island Hawaii. Walk to a Luau at King Kamehameha Hotel.

This was a nice place to stay and would recommend to anyone. It's walking distance to shopping, good places to eat, and night life! Can see the ocean from our balcony. Perfect place.

Owner's Response: Mahalo for your wonderful and accurate review! I am glad that you enjoyed your stay in our condo by the sea! It is truly paradise. A "little slice of heaven" I always say. When I describe it to my Guests they don't realize the beauty until the step into the room and see the Ocean right at their doorstep! I try very hard to maintain a 5 star rating and go above and beyond to make sure the condo and the amenities are top notch. Please come again soon. Live Aloha! Gigi Unit #346

Great location for a great price

  • 5 of 5

So many great things about this property: awesome owner, great location, has all you might need for a great vacation. Only note is: take your lodging savings and eat out! Kitchen is good for small things (eggs and coffee in am) and the grill on-site is wonderful for a night of BBQing..but anything more than that and you might start to get tired. Sink is so small and the counter space is minimal. But... just go eat out! there are so many great restaurants in WALKING distance! Thanks, Gigi! We had a great time.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your 5* review! I guess $60 a night was a good deal. And then you can save to go out for dinners. I've had people that live there for 3 to 4 months at a time and like the fact that it's downsized in the kitchen so you can cook just what you need without having all the extras. The plus side is the full size refrigerator which everyone loves. That being said the restaurants are very reasonable and wonderful in the area and who wants to waste time in the kitchen! My favorite time is down at the barbecue at the grill and I do the prep in the kitchen upstairs and bring it down and we meet people from all over the world. I hope you found that as interesting as we did. I'm glad you both had a wonderful time. Much Aloha! Gigi

Great location, budget friendly and owner guest services!

  • 5 of 5

This is a great studio in the heart of Kailua - Kona, you can easily walk to shopping and dining and enjoy the ocean breeze and views from the lanai! We had a minor issue upon arrival, but Gigi addressed it immediately and her communication and pride of ownership was great all along the way. We look forward to coming back!

The location was right in the heart of Kona and the view from the balcony was gorgeous. The sound of the waves was very soothing. The extras such as beach towels and chairs were welcome.

Owner's Response: Mahalo Nui for the wonderful review and the five star rating! I really appreciate when guests give me their honest opinion about my condo so others can know what the experience is like. I'm glad you found my condo suited your needs for the perfect Hawaiian vacation. I too love staying there and it is one of the most wonderful things to experience watching the ocean right at your door. I love the fact that everything is so close by because it's just so easy to Hang Loose as they say! Warmest Aloha and hope to see you again, Gigi

Perfect ocean front stay

  • 5 of 5

I was a little skeptical as I had read reviews about the hotel and my previous accomodation in Hilo was literally a roach motel but that all went out the window as soon as I opened to door to Gigi's apt. It was perfect. I can only speak of the apt and the grounds of the Kona Islander Inn, the grounds are lovely, the lobby area is very nice and open. Gigi thought of absolutely everything, you will need for nothing in her apartment. Her kitchen was fully stocked, with every pan and utensil you could need. We made good use of it, as eating out in Hawaii can be expensive. Alot of people complained (unnecessarily) about there being no elevator, we did not have an issue as the apartment is on the 3rd floor. If you cannot walk up 3 flights of stairs then you have issues. There are alot of rules around the property which I can understand, alot of the apartments are privately owned and lived in. Another thing people had an issue with is parking, we were able to find parking outside our unit every night except one, and then we parked in another area of the parking lot. The only time you will have an issue with parking is if you come back late.

Gigi also had alot of beach equipment such as boogie boards and chairs that we used. I cannot say enough about this unit. I would highly recommend it. You will have to go across the street in order to see the sunset properly but you can also see beautiful skies from the lanai. There are so many shops and restaurants literally at your finger tips. You can hear the waves crashing while sitting on the lanai. I am already planning my next trip.

Owner's Response: Aloha Sandra! Mahalo Nui Noa for the wonderful and honest review. I really do appreciate it. I know that it cost a lot of money to come to Hawaii and everybody wants the best of her vacation. I go above and beyond to try to provide that for them. I tried to understand everyone's needs and make sure that they are taking care of. I appreciate you letting everyone know your own personal experience. Looking forward to booking you again. Much Aloha, Gigi

Location, Location, Location!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time during our 2-week stay at the condo- once we arrived we opened the lanai door to a great view of the ocean, only obstructed by palm and fruit trees. The location is superb, close enough to walk downtown every night but not so close to the beach/restaurants that the evenings are loud. We did have one obnoxious neighbor for a few nights, but Cliff in security helped us out by notifying them. We didn't have a problem with any other neighbors : )

Gigi was nice enough to accommodate us on our schedule since our flights changed. Even though parking was first-come first served we didn't have any issues finding a space, this might be due to the shoulder season and the fact we ended up walking much more than we thought we would. Listen to Gigi about taking out the trash- everywhere in Hawaii regardless of cleanliness will attract bugs if it isn't taken out. Check in and out were both very easy. It was a great home away from home. We will definitely be back!
