Wooded Solitude steps away from the Bass River

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,600 sq. ft.
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 3 - 7 nights

About the property

3 bedroom, 2 bathroom

This home is on a tranquil, wooded setting in the Bass River community on Cape Cod. It was designed by John Root Jr., a well-known Chicago architect. Massive timbers were brought from an old barn in New Hampshire so that this structure has great character. The large master suite with its own bath and patio overlooks the woods. There are two additional bedrooms and a guest bath. This rustic home is fully heated and has central air. There is a warm, open living room with glass doors leading out to the patio area. The cabin is set on an acre of white pine forest right in the midst of the Bass River community activities. A very easy walk to beaches, Ship Shops boat yard, moorings, farmers market, Cultural Center and tennis.

Golf weekend

  • 5 of 5

We rented this beautiful home for a guys golf outing. It is set on a wooded lot allowing lots of privacy. The space was ample for all 8 of us. Both gas and charcoal grills were available, and with the supporting well equipped kitchen, we never ate out! Great place!

Short but sweet stay

  • 4 of 5

The home was rustic, comfortable and clean. Our stay was short but the owners went out of their way to make sure all was well. Would not hesitate to recommend.

Incredible getaway

  • 5 of 5

This is a great cabin to relax at for the week! Tucked away yet convenient to everything - a great location to many of the sights on the Cape. Owners take great care with the property- one of the best stocked rentals I've stayed at, particularly a well equipped kitchen. The bunk room is well stocked with toys, books and games. The 2nd bedroom can be twins or pushed together as a king and the master suite is beautiful - all with very comfortable beds. Love the rustic charm of the cabin and the wooded privacy and quiet neighborhood with Windmill Beach or shops and bakeries in easy walking distance.

What a great spot for a family vacation!!!

  • 5 of 5

We keep a boat in Yarmouth and spend a lot of time there so we wanted to rent close to the marina for a family vacation. When we saw the pictures of this house we knew it would work for us. The place is amazing nestled off the street in a grove of pines, so tranquil and private. The house is very cool with its barn like interior and great layout to accommodate the whole family. When the owners tell you everything thing is there for you it is. The owners take great pride in this property and it shows, they also make the whole rental process easy. We had such a great week we are booking for next year!!!"

Family Friendly Cottage Retreat ... Minutes Away from Stores, Restaurants, and Beaches!

  • 5 of 5

This is a great property and our family vacation here exceeded all our expectations. OWNER - the owners are great to work with, very accommodating to special requests and questions in advance of our stay, and very efficient with returning responding to our inquiries and processing our lease. We enjoyed working with them and appreciate all the personal touches including sending us an email or two during our stay to update us on local events (fireworks, cafe' opening, etc). They are great, and they respect your privacy throughout the visit! PROPERTY - the property is surrounded by woods and bordered private driveways and properties on 3 sides. The "main road" is actually a quiet neighborhood street with limited traffic during the day and almost none at night. You can sit on the deck or lawn and here only the wind; at night, you can see the stars clearly. Perfect location for family barbecues or reading/relaxing. LOCATION - the solitude that other reviews mentioned is great and provides you peace and quiet. Yet, if you need to grab groceries/supplies, or want to dine out at local restaurant, you can drive there in 5 mins. The beaches are a short walk away on quiet streets - we pulled our toddler there on a wagon each day -- lots of fun. You can also reach the local bakery on the same short walk. FAMILY FRIENDLY - finally, we loved the property itself. All the rooms are on one floor with lots of open space; you can let your kid(s) run free and have peace of mind they will be safe. The property has the master suite and bathroom on end and the two other bedrooms & the other full bath on the other end, so you can give your guests or older children some space. The property is great for letting kids run around or dining outdoors. At night, you can relax and enjoy the ambiance of an historic cabin with modern features (flawless wireless internet!). We loved our stay at this cabin: a hidden gem surrounded by traditional Cape Cod homes in a quiet and pleasant neighborhood bordering the Bass River.

Peaceful getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We loved the quiet setting in the pines, the rustic barn beams inside, as well as the cozy fireplace (even though we didn't use it!). This house was stocked with everything you will need -towels, sheets, beach supplies, kitchen necessities, books for reading, washer & dryer, etc. I found a book to read and snuggled into the love seat in front of the big window looking into the peaceful pine tree filled front yard. This house is minutes away from Bass River (beach, boat ramp, fishing) as well as easy access to other attractions. We highly recommend this home! The owners are very accommodating and lovely to deal with.
