About the property

Private 1st Floor Guest Suite in 19th Century House.

*****6000 Acres of Nearby State Game Lands*******

Visit Amish farms to the west, historic sites to the east, then travel south to Longwood Gardens or north to Outlets, Ski and Adventure Parks. It's all within easy reach. That's because Greystone sits near the County Lines of Historic Lancaster and Chester Counties. Numerous nearby roads make exploring easy. English equestrian sport and fox hunting are the theme of the rental. This contrasts with the Amish horse-drawn buggies found among wineries, grist mills and near the historic iron-works of Coventry Forge. One mile East you'll find a Micro Distillery / Bistro. Travel south to the Hagley Museum and tour the gun powder mills of DuPont.... or perhaps Valley Forge to the east, then Civil War Gettysburg to the west. Old Philadelphia, Hershey Park and Harrisburg State Capitol are within an hour’s drive. Come see them all or simply escape for relaxation in luxury at Greystone, knowing that it's all within easy reach when you're ready.

About Chris Peeples

Life-long inhabitant of Historic Chester County. Started my company Vixen Hill Cedar Products on a Chester Springs farm then moved it to Elverson in 1985. My rentals are designed and decorated to the highest 5-star ratings. I believe in doing it right or not at all.

Chris Peeples purchased this chateau / country house in 1990

Why Chris Peeples chose Chester County

I purchased this property as a personal project. My intention was to renovate an enduring monument equal to the best of America's grand homes of the early 1900's. This 1880's house is constructed of black granite from a local quarry.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

The property is conveniently situated near numerous roads that lead directly to both historic and recreational destinations. These destinations are equally numerous and could easily consume a week or two to visit them all. I've often remarked that there's virtually nothing you can't find within an hour's drive.

Beautiful Peaceful Home

  • 5 of 5

We just got home from a beautiful 3 day weekend at The Graystone House! It is a beautiful home, large, very comfortable and quiet. Chris maintains the property with great care. There is so much to do in the area, we hurried back each day to relax on the open porch in the 'chair hammocks'. We had breakfast each morning there at the table as well. It is a place we will plan on visiting again, as well as Chris's other properties! Thank you for a 'Home away from Home"!

very nice place and proprietor

  • 5 of 5

4 of us stayed for 2 nights. We were originally to be 3 in the 1-bedroom, but when the 4th was added at the last minute Chris arranged for us to have the larger 2-bedroom suite, where there was plenty of room for 2 of us to use air mattresses. Chris' flexibility and accommodation of our last-minute need was much appreciated, and the rate was very reasonable.

Lovely stay

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the suite. The place is spacious and very convenient as described. Chris the owner was also nice and responsive via messages, although we didn't get to meet in person. We had a good time and would visit again.

LARGE and COZY

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying at Grey House! It is quite big- definitely bigger than expected and beautifully furnished. It is conveniently located near both the Turnpike and Amish Country. We would definitely stay here again!

Home away from Home.

  • 5 of 5

Well kept property, which makes you feel at home. Hassle free booking and easy access to many local eateries and shopping. Perfect for a weekend getaway. Chris was fast in responding and made our stay comfortable even though it was a last minute plan. Thanks a lot for the nice stay.

I ask that guests clean up and start the wash cycle on dishes and laundry prior to departure. This allows me time to straighten up for the next guest and helps allow for extended departure and arrival times for guests needing flexability.
