About the property

4 Bedrooms, 4 Bathrooms, Sleeps 10

Beautiful 4 bedroom 3 bath 3,200 square foot home on Lake Macatawa's picturesque Big Bay. A large deck gives way to an expansive front lawn, sandy beaches, gently sloping waterfront and mature oak trees. Water has sandy bottom and slopes very gradually for about a half mile until reaching an overhead depth. Perfect for small children. Less than 1 mile from Holland State Park and the splendor of Lake Michigan. Home is built on two lots providing plenty of room for recreation and privacy. Built in the early 1950's and updated 6 years ago, the home retains the charm of a classic lakeside cottage with a large living room and field stone fireplace, knotty pine paneled study, breakfast nook and kitchen dinning room combo all with lake views. 2 of the 3 upstairs bedrooms also have lake views. Newly added master suite and bath as well as family room also have stunning lake views.

About Owner/Property Manager

Blaine Newhouse

We are a family of 6 who enjoy living in Holland Michigan - especially beautiful Lake Macatawa and Lake Michigan. We delight in hearing stories of how much people enjoy our home and the peaceful setting.

Owner/Property Manager purchased this house in 2012

Why Owner/Property Manager chose West Central

We purchased our home because of it's location on Lake Macatawa in close proximity to Lake Michigan. We were also attracted to the peaceful neighborhood with lots of mature oak trees as well as the double lot offering lots of space for recreation and privacy. The homes character, ample size and history were also something we found attractive.

What makes this house unique

We love the fact that Lake Macatawa and Lake Michigan are available to us. We also enjoy the space of two lots - very uncommon in Lake front living. The fact that the home was both a classic cottage with knotty pine and field stone fireplace AND newly expanded and updated was a huge plus for us. The home has lot of character. We especially enjoy exercise - so walks to the Holland Pier or riding our bikes along Lake Shore Drive is something we often do. We were also looking for a water front home with a sandy beach and sandy lake bottom. This together with the gentle slope of the lake allows for kids of all ages to play in the water with far less parental concern.

Beautiful large home and yard on gorgeous Lake Macatawa

  • 5 of 5

This house was a perfect fit for our 3 generation family. The house is located on a large lot with unbelievable large windows in the 4 rooms facing the lake, which was great, especially for firework views across the lake. There are trees that provide shade, a large grassy area for games, etc. and there is also a sandy beach area, great for smaller kids to play in. The lake is shallow for quite a ways, which makes the water warmer and safer for smaller children. There is also a pier with some boats provided. All the rooms are very large and very comfortable. There is plenty of storage area. The house and gardens are very well maintained with beautiful landscaping. There is a very large deck on the lake side of the house with seating and picnic eating area. The house is located very close to Holland State Park as well as the City of Holland. The house was very clean and well maintained and decorated nicely with a "lake theme". The surrounding homes were also very lovely. A book was provided which listed restaurants and other activities to do in the area. The owners were very easy to work with. Our family enjoyed staying there so much that we plan to come again.

Extremely Clean

Really a nice place. Very large with a great view. Just loved the high power shower. We only had four adults so we certainly weren't cramped. Just wished they had king size beds instead of queens. But we're just fatties.

Wonderful vacation cabin/home!

  • 5 of 5

I loved that this place was so clean and neat throughout! And that most was on one floor and big deck, shade and sun areas and right on the water! And it was close to GR where my boys live!

Great Place

  • 5 of 5

1st time here and 3rd Lake Mac rental in the last 3 years. Fantastic place by comparison to previous. View is beautiful and the home is well kept and very clean. We appreciated how much it felt a home and not just a "rental". Neighborhood is quiet and relaxing. Owners are very gracious and helpful. We have already requested a booking again for next year.

We Love It!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at this wonderful home. It accommodates all our children and grandchildren with room to spare. It is nice to be able to entertain ourselves with the games (indoor and outdoor), paddleboat and kayak provided by the owners. The location is great and we still have not scratched the surface of things to do in the area. We love riding bikes to Holland State Park, Tunnel Park and to get ice cream in the evenings. We've enjoyed it for two years and are planning our return visit in 2016.

Best family vacation!

  • 5 of 5

Everything about our stay was wonderful! It was our first vacation ever with our young girls (1.5 and 2.5 years old). The water was shallow enough for them to play, and the location was perfect! Local attractions and shopping are close. The home is beautifully kept, and the owners were very kind to us. A great getaway!

Holland is located in western Michigan - known for Dutch ancestory and the Tulip Festival each spring (second largest festival in the nation). Our home is situated on two lots providing ample space for recreation and solitude. The neighborhood is filled with an abundance of mature oak trees offering welcome shade from the summer sun. Our home is approximately 1 mile from the entrance to Holland State Park and the shores of Lake Michigan. Holland is a mid sized town - 10 miles to city center by car or bike. The city has a charming down town with many specialty shops and restaurants. Bike paths are plentiful and make for ease of walking, biking or roller blade.
