About Julie Warmke
I live in Gainesville, Fla, about 90 minutes from St. Augustine. The condo is our second home during the winter and spring, but we spend the summer in Nova Scotia, which is generally when we rent the unit. Since the unit is our second home, it is equipped with everything you would need for a pleasant vacation, including beach gear, umbrellas, bocci ball set, and tennis rackets.
Why Julie Warmke chose Saint Augustine
St. Augustine is a historic town full of fantastic restaurants, great live music, and many food, art, and cultural festivals. The beach is one of the nicest in Florida, with a white sand beach perfect for walking, sports, and driving. If you wish to access the beach by car, there are entrance ramps two miles north and two miles south. There is a daily use fee. Driving is one way at the top of the beach, so beachgoers can enjoy the beach safely.
What makes this Condo unique
Hibiscus has tropical landscaping that gives it the feel of a private resort. Our porch is the perfect place to enjoy drinks or a meal in a garden setting. With three pools with b-b-q grills, two jacuzzis, a tennis court, and a club house with exercise facility, the complex affords every amenity.

This property is a bit older but well designed and kept up. It's on the edge of St Augustine beach, so it's pretty quiet. Kitchen and bathrooms are clean and well stocked, even had coffee and olive oil. I figured it was prob ancient but checking dates it was new, in fact all the items in the kitchen were fairly new, I appreciate that attention to detail. Pools are nice and never crowded. The fitness center is a total joke. The ocean is a bit of a hike thru the complex, but it's all on well manicured walkways. Overall it was a great place for a reasonable price
When we arrived, the condo smelled of bug spray but was otherwise clean and comfy. Directions to use the television were a confusing but figured that out. My biggest complaints were that the kitchen utensils need to be replaced desperately-(No wine opener and there was no way I was using the can opener and most glasses and silver ware appeared quite old). The dishwasher was useless. Couldn't open the freezer completely because of how it was arranged by the wall and the whirlpool was TERRIBLY LOUD . We never could enjoy it and never turned it on. But we still enjoyed our stay. The neighbor, who let us in to the condo, was friendly and helpful and we were comfortable. Place just needs work/upgrading and Hibiscus is a nice resort.
Great stay super clean
The condo was very clean. We had 3 adults and 2 small children and had plenty of room. We really enjoyed our stay and visiting the downtown area about a 15 minute drive. The beach access was a little bit further of a walk if you wanted to carry a lot down to the beach so we opted to drive on the beach access and pull right infront of the resort wich was much easier with all the toys and chairs. The club house entrance was the first pook area with a bathroom so you could walk back fairly quickly maybe 5 minutes to it if you needed and back to the room in 10 minutes. The condo was very well stocked with kitchen supplies, towels. Anything you needed really. The only thing was if you want a actual low sitting beach chair bring that the chairs that are provided were camp chairs which was nice but wish i would have had a chair to sit in the water. The artwork was a great personal touch. The pools were also very well maintained. Laundry was located on the back side of the building. We would defineately stay here again. The price was fantastic!
We visit St. Augustine3-4 times a year. This stay was fantastic. Condo is in ideal location. Beach is a short walk (5min) but better yet we just left all our beach gear in truck and drove down to beach. Beach access for vehicle is very close. Condo was clean and well stocked. Staff was very nice and Tricia whom checked us in was very cordial and efficient. All you need for your stay is the food you eat. I give it a 10 and will stay again.
Older but clean
Very nice - clean & located in a good area. Would return without question.

The place was clean with exception of a washing machine in the property everything was in place, it is a bit dated but very clean. As a disabled person I found the property accessible and quite comfortable. There is a small step into the complex but I found it not too bad. The description tells you the beach is accessible, but from my prospective it is not. I travel around in a mobility scooter and besides the distance the access is through gates and pathways however half way through getting there the pathway takes a steep down turn which I could not attempt as it was beyond the ability of my scooter and if you were using a wheelchair I think it would be impossible to attempt. Do be aware. The description tells you that the laundry area is used by coin slot this is untrue. If you require to use the laundry you will have to have a credit card with a metallic strip( current U.K. Cards do not have the strip).
If you are able bodied you will find this property to be suitable as long as you be aware the beach access is not too close so be prepared for a good walk on steep pathways. I can not say how good the beach is as I did not reach it.
The property is in close proximately to some eateries and shopping. St Augustine is about a 40 minute car ride away and is very worth a visit
There are two routes to access the beach, one through the central pool area and the other via the ramp. There are no steps on either route but there are gates around the various pool areas. The beach is a 5 minute walk from our unit. Downtown St. Augustine is 8 miles from Hibiscus or a 20 min drive. I wasn't aware that the laundry had recently changed from coin operated to credit card operated machines. My apologies.
15 min to historic St. Augustine, Alligator Farm, and Marineland. One hour to Jacksonville airport, less than 2 hours to Disney/Universal.
