Our cottage in the Resort Municipality of Tofino is nestled in a quiet residential area, only minutes walk to the town centre and all its amenities, and only minutes from the pristine beaches at Tonquin Park and Bay.
Our home has been constructed to the highest environmental standards, utilizing timber from sustainably managed forests, insulated using the highest R value available. The solid wood flooring is BC grown, harvested and processed, it is a mix of Fir and Larch from Wynndel near Creston. To conserve water our bathrooms are fitted with efficient dual-flush low-flow toilets and 'on demand' hot water system.
Our home is nestled amongst a forest of veteran red cedar trees, the understory a rich mosaic of species (including Pacific yew) true to our beliefs we have sought innovative ways to co-exist with nature and minimize our ecological footprint on this pristine landscape.
Our cottage is truly a home away from home. We try to keep the kitchen stocked with day to day essentials, like salt, pepper, flour, coffees, teas, foil, clingwrap, so you don't have to buy and bring every single thing you might need. We provide beach and bath towels - and old towels for wiping off a happy dog after a run on the beach!
We bought the lot in 2003 and started building our cottage in 2008. We are both professional foresters, self confessed tree huggers and we love the westcoast for the pristine wilderness, temperate rainforest and miles of sandy beaches.
Mark purchased this house in 2003
We hope you enjoy your experience at our home away from home....
Please take nothing but memories
Leave nothing but footprints
Kill nothing but time.
The Resort municipality of Tofino built a new trail less than 100 yards from the front door which takes you to Tonquin Bay and along a scenic cliff top walk with beautiful vista's and stunning sunsets, eventually this coastal trail will take you all the way to Mackenzie beach.
Thanks again for letting us stay at your Tofino home. We had a great time and the weather was great. Had a good feed of mussels too.:)
We spent three nights at this lovely, spacious cottage and had a great time. Loved the stroll into town and proximity to bakery, gallery, and the like. Mark and Sara sent us detailed, useful information and responded to all our messages promptly. We'd happily rent this cottage again on a future visit.
Thank you for a fabulous stay in your beautiful home! We couldn't have found a better place to stay, everything was wonderful. Our group went to the Mermaid Masquerade as part of Tofino Oyster Festival. The cottage is a short walk into town for the event. The next day we enjoyed another short walk to Sobos for an amazing meal. The path to Tonquin beach/industrial way was lovely as well!
The house is perfectly equipped with kitchen ware and a stereo, everything we needed! We were very comfortable and enjoyed a relaxing evening. Thanks!
This place is really beautiful and the pictures do not do it justice. It was super clean when we arrived. There were lots of clean towels and everything we needed to cook and clean ourselves. This place is also very close to the beach and downtown Tofino. Despite it being near downtown Tofino is still felt like a secluded Cabin experience. This place will be a mainstay for future Tofino trips.
Four of us booked last minute after another reservation fell through and the owners were very accommodating. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this place to our friends and family!
We have rented this house for the second time and especially like the location on a quiet street. Shops and restaurants are at walking distance and the trail to Tonquin beach is around the corner.
The house is clean and has everything we needed, we didn't cook because of all the great seafood to be had in Tofino but everything is there for meal preparation. The couches are comfortable to rest after long walks on the different beaches.
The house is a bit dark because it is surrounded by trees and the large deck is very shady, so outside of the hottest months it is too cool to sit outside. For us this is not a problem because we are out most of the day.
Mark is very quick to respond to booking requests and questions.
Nice to be able to use the boots and raincoats. Lots of movies and games.
The beds were a little narrow for two people.A room with two single beds would be better than two double beds with one in an alcove on the floor.
Location to downtown was great.
Hot Springs Cove, whale watching, surfing, Pacific Rim National Park
