I am not impressed..bad start to honeymoon

  • 2 of 5

My husband and I decided to travel to Gatlinburg for our honeymoon. This cabin is PUNY compared to what the pictures perceive it to be. It will do for two people, but there are some things about it that we discovered. FIRST, it is about 50-100 feet from where people are living and it did not look like they even tried to clean up. Not all of the light switches work and the bedroom light switch is located upstairs! The area around the cabin had pieces of trash spread on the landscape. Forget about wify!!! There is wify connection, but it is so poor that it does not work. I'm guessing it is coming from the house next door. Forget about using the heart shaped tub...only ONE jet worked and the water does not stay warm. The upstairs shower is too small and not completely tiled (A RUG COVERS IT UP). Really??? They do not mention that there is a toilet two feet from the edge of the bed as well as the heart shaped tub being in the same spot, just with a half wall between the two. We ended up leaving after staying for two nights and getting a hotel room in downtown Gatlinburg. When I called, I was told that we should call and they will come fix it....IN THE MIDDLE OF OUR HONEYMOON. NO, the cabin should be checked between each time people rent and things should be fixed if they are in need of it!!!! We should not have to worry about a cabin not being fully functional and it being fixed during our stay!! She would not refund us for the other 5 nights that we would have been staying there. They do not refund money if you are unhappy or if the cabin is not as it should be or seen as before renting it. I am very disappointed with this and this has ruined the first two nights of our honeymoon. We are currently in Gatlinburg at a different place.

Owner's Response: The cabin is exactly as advertised. The jacuzzi tub worked fine. Had you called we could have explained to you that the jets can be turned in or off by pushing and pulling them, some people don't like the jets. The jacuzzi tub does not keep heating the water, it's a tub not a hot tub. The hot tub out on the deck stays hot, it's a hot tub. Light switches work fine, we have unnecessary switches covered, not needed. There is a light switch for the bedroom both upstairs and downstairs. Most csbibs have jacuzzi tubs in the bedroom, that's what MOST people want. Yes there is a time missing under the lavatory, it will be fixed when the floors are replaced. It cosmetic that is not seen unless the rug is moved. Does not effect the use of the cabin. Yes the cabin is a small cabin, that's why we ONLY charge 99/110 per night. It's well worth the price. Trash on the property was from the bears getting into the garbage. Which is pucked up as it happens. We too get frustrated with the trash when it sometimes happens , actually very rarely. Wifi is not great in the mountains, we take what we get. I have no control over that. The cabin is a great little place to retreat to after a long day in the mountains, especially silky for the price your paying.

Excellent for Couples!

  • 4 of 5

I'm not sure about having 4 adults in the place, but maybe a couple and their 2 small kiddos. But my boyfriend and I REALLY ENJOYED our stay. Within an hour of arriving we were sitting out on the swing on the deck and saw a bear stroll past. What sold me on the place to begin with were the pictures of the bears so seeing one as soon as we arrived made my whole week. The hot tub was perfect for after our hiking adventures during the day. It was just a short drive to Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge and the Smoky Mountains so being further out it allowed us a more quiet experience as opposed to staying in Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge. We were even close enough to Knoxville to go spend the day there and see a show that night. The ONLY bed in the place was huge and was very comfortable. Loved the decks (even though I was unsure about the privacy from the hot tub with the house located on top of the hill- you could see their backyard and made me a little wary about covering up quickly after being in the hot tub). Sitting on the deck was beautiful and relaxing in the morning and at night. The porch swing made the deck 10x better and that was my spot. The bedroom arrangement is a little odd with the hot tub protruding into the room and the non-enclosed toilet (which we did not use at all). For being down there a week, dressers or a closet would've been ideal so that we could unpack our bags and not have to live out of them for the whole week. Especially since we had larger bags and couldn't fit both of them on the more open side of the bedroom. The spiral staircase was unique, but a little narrow and we couldn't fit our suitcases down it. At night it was really dark and a little hard to navigate the black staircase, we eventually had to leave a light on in the bathroom to avoid toe stubbing and searching with our feet for the stairs. The jacuzzi bath was a lot of fun to use, but the hot water ran out quickly. Arriving at the place was a little tricky. The street view on GPS shows a bunch of trees, when the entrance is located a few yards up from that. In the amenities it said a hair dryer was available, so I did not bring my hair dryer. I could not find a hair dryer any where, I am glad that I am not one who depends on the need of a hair dryer. The pots and pans could use a little TLC. That's all just nit-picking. Overall we had an amazing trip and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would recommend it to any couple!

It was cute and private

It was what my daughter and I were looking for in a mini vacation. The bed was comfy, hot tub was great, and the location was only a few minutes from hiking trails and Gatlinburg shops. We look forward to returning! Thank you, Starlet

We went for an adult getaway. We loved every bit of it. The cabin is clean, quiet, and just far enough away from all the busy places so can relax without hearing other people. Owners were very friendly and greeted us right away. No complaints here! I'll go back again.

Two Thumbs Up

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I rented this cabin for our two year anniversary. We've just had a little one, so this little getaway was much needed. Upon arrival, Starlett gave us a deal that we couldn't pass up. Her rental was the cheapest with such short notice. She was very polite and her mannerisms were in order. She provided me all the information needed prior to our arrival. Once we made it to the cabin, at first we thought we got swindled. Coming on to the property looks scary and has absolutely no signage. However, we kept going and surely we saw our cabin. Now, there are other cabins right beside each other and the parking is kind of all over the place but Starlett greeted us promptly when we pulled up. Once we got inside, the cabin was absolutely beautiful. It was perfect for us. I loved how quaint and cozy it was. I'm a germophobe and I must say this cabin was spotless. I loved the spiral staircase, although it was tiny it was really cute and sexy in a way. The downstairs area with the bedroom was our favorite. The jacuzzi tub was PERFECT, as we had driven over 8hours to get there. The bed was heavenly. I've never felt a bed so comfortable. Once you get in its nearly impossible to get out. The outside views are remarkable. There's also a hot tub outside but we didn't use it. We enjoyed the jacuzzi indoors instead. Upstairs there's a bathroom and a laundry room which was great because we washed all all laundry before we left and we didn't have to wait on each other to use the bathrooms when getting ready. It was great knowing that the owner was nearby. She always greeted us and asked if we needed anything. I loved the property and I will most definitely return.

Cute cabin but could use some improvements

  • 3 of 5

This cabin is a lot cheaper than other cabins in the area. So, keep your expectations reasonable. Overall, it was fine for a weekend stay, but I don’t think we will be back to this cabin.

-The bed was really comfortable

-The fireplace is a nice touch

-Hot tub seemed brand new (the owners should add a picture! It was clean, warm, private)

-Although there are several buildings, it felt secluded because the back porch and windows all face the woods. There were other cars in the driveway, but we didn’t see anyone else while we were there.

-No steep mountain driving

-Owner was responsive and brought us pillows & blankets for the pull-out couch within a few minutes of calling her

-Lots of clean towels

-Porch was great

-Convenient location

-Washer and dryer (make sure you bring your own detergent)

-On the walkway there is what appears to be an electric wire from the telephone pole to the cabin that’s low enough to touch your head if you’re not careful- kind of scary!

-The spiral staircase is narrow, so I definitely would not recommend this place if you have any mobility issues.

-As others mentioned, the upstairs shower is very small and uncomfortable, perhaps a bit smaller than a standard stall shower.

-The mattress pull-out couch was very uncomfortable – very thin and the springs stick right through. My daughter (who doesn’t mind sleeping on the floor even) had us fold it back up so she could just sleep on the couch instead.

-The heart shaped tub is really awkward and doesn’t fit in the space.

-As others mentioned, the downstairs “bathroom” is just a toilet and sink at the bottom of the stairs in front of the bed. Again, it’s awkward. But, it beats having to go up the spiral stairs to use the bathroom at night.

There are several simple things the owners could do to really improve the property.

-It could really use a deep cleaning. It wasn’t filthy, but there were a lot of cobwebs and dust. The bathtub looked clean, but the water had clumps of dust when we tried to fill it. The toilets had a ring on the inside, so it was obvious they hadn’t been cleaned prior to our arrival. The dishes were dusty.

-We visited in May and there were Christmas decorations in the cabin and a Christmas tree on the porch. Of course this doesn’t impact our enjoyment of the cabin, but certainly gives the impression they’re slacking on the up-keep.

-There was no hand soap in the upstairs bathroom and the sink could use a scrubbing. As another reviewer mention
