Overview

About the property

2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, Sleeps 6, washer & dryer, covered parking, lake 5 min away

This is a very clean and well appointed two bedroom home. It has a large rear deck that has fabulous views of the mountains and offer an opportunity to see Yellowstone wildlife right from the house! The Bison approve because it's a favorite spot for raising their babes in the spring!

The home offers spectacular mountain views with easy access to beautiful Hebgen Lake and the National Forest lands adjacent to the property. This is a duplex unit that stands alone on its own lot with a covered carport between units, so lots of room and quiet compared to most condos! It has a full-size kitchen, wood fireplace, laundry facilities, wireless internet, large screen satellite TV, along with spectacular views of Yellowstone Park and the 11'000 foot peaks surrounding West Yellowstone. This is one of four similar homes that are next to each other, so if you don't find availability in this one or need more space for a larger group, call us and we'll see if we can combine homes to get you what you need!

It is a two-bedroom unit with a sofa-sleeper and is very roomy and comfortable for 4-5, but will sleep up to 6. There is a large yard, covered parking for one vehicle and plenty of off street parking for more. The condo also has a great rear deck with BBQ for enjoying our spectacular summer evenings.

There is abundant wildlife, much of which travels right past the condo, and hundreds of miles of hiking, biking, skiing and snowmobiling trails right out the door. We also have other units available and can combine one, two, and three bedroom units to accommodate larger groups.

It is accessible by paved road (the last 1/4 mi is gravel), but sits in a secluded, quiet subdivision on the Horse Butte peninsula of Hebgen Lake, 9 miles outside the town of West Yellowstone.

This home is located in the mountains of Montana just minutes from the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park. It is named after one of the most spectacular birds living in North America, the Sandhill Crane. These giant, prehistoric looking birds (think Stork) migrate through our region and many of them spend their summers here raising their young. The male and female call out in harmony, and you'll likely hear this sweet song mornings and evenings from the condo. Check the photos section for a picture.

It offers truly awesome views and the subdivision is surrounded by Forest Service Land. Yellowstone Park is 15 minutes away, the Gallatin National Forest is less than one-quarter mile away, and the two main arms of beautiful Hebgen Lake are five minutes either way.

West Yellowstone has its own charms, with both summer and winter time activities, museums, theaters, dining and shopping.

The fishing, skiing, wildlife watching and geyser gazing are world renowned. Come stay in this quiet mountain retreat and spend time exploring this adventurer's wonderland!

Cute house with great view!

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at this place. Very quiet & scenic! Could use new pillows, but otherwise very nice accommodations. Enjoyed the homemade local taffy! Thanks!

Gateway to the Yellowstone National Park

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our four-night stay at Sandhill East. It is located in a quiet rural area, yet only 15 minutes away from the West Entrance of YSNP. The home is clean with comfortable beds, and plenty of linens and towels. All appliances worked well, especially the washer/dryer, which allowed us to travel light even with two young children needing frequent clothing changes. Plenty of plates, glasses, cooking hardware, detergent, fabric softeners, trash bags, sandwich bags, bathroom tissues, paper towels, and body wash in the house, bring your own shampoo, lotion, aluminum foil, and other consumable cooking supplies.

We did not have trouble with the wifi connection, or the cell reception (we have AT&T). We loved the travel magazines above the fireplace: they are very helpful for our last-minute trip planning. The suggested short hikes to the Trout Lake, the Wraith Fall, and the short drive on unpaved roads to the Two Ocean Lake in the Grand Teton NP are not physically demanding yet beautiful and allowed us to have close encounters with pika, elk, moose, coyote and grizzly bears!

Thanks for allowing us to stay.

Beautiful views and functional

  • 3 of 5

We really just slept here while visiting Yellowstone, and it was a quick trip (10 minutes) to West Yellowstone, so it was fine for that purpose. The views were beautiful out the front and back decks. However, the doors within the house were very flimsy and hard to shut. The sleeper sofa looked uncomfortable but our kids (5 & 3) loved their "hideaway" and slept there just fine. We'd like to go back to Yellowstone sometime, but we'll probably try to book ahead and get a place in the park next time.

Great place, quiet and clean

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed Sandhill East. It was ultra clean, quiet and comfortable. This place is large enough to live in. We had cell reception, WiFi and a full range of HD channels. The house has everything you need including a washer, dryer and dishwasher. There are thermostats in every room. It is about 15 minutes to the town of West Yellowstone and 5 more minutes to the National Park entrance.

Great place

  • 4 of 5

The house was great for our family. Had everything we needed. Super clean, had plenty of linens and a major bonus, had fans for every room! Would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to everyone. The only small complaint would be that they could use some curtains in the rooms because the sun rose at 5:30 and it was pretty bright. However, I through a blanket over my face. Loved this place. Thanks for letting us stay!
