Overview

About the property

2 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, Sleeps 6, washer & dryer, covered parking, lake 5 min away

This is a very clean and well appointed two bedroom home. It has a large rear deck that has fabulous views of the mountains and offer an opportunity to see Yellowstone wildlife right from the house! The Bison approve because it's a favorite spot for raising their babes in the spring!

The home offers spectacular mountain views with easy access to beautiful Hebgen Lake and the National Forest lands adjacent to the property. This is a duplex unit that stands alone on its own lot with a covered carport between units, so lots of room and quiet compared to most condos! It has a full-size kitchen, wood fireplace, laundry facilities, wireless internet, large screen satellite TV, along with spectacular views of Yellowstone Park and the 11'000 foot peaks surrounding West Yellowstone. This is one of four similar homes that are next to each other, so if you don't find availability in this one or need more space for a larger group, call us and we'll see if we can combine homes to get you what you need!

It is a two-bedroom unit with a sofa-sleeper and is very roomy and comfortable for 4-5, but will sleep up to 6. There is a large yard, covered parking for one vehicle and plenty of off street parking for more. The condo also has a great rear deck with BBQ for enjoying our spectacular summer evenings.

There is abundant wildlife, much of which travels right past the condo, and hundreds of miles of hiking, biking, skiing and snowmobiling trails right out the door. We also have other units available and can combine one, two, and three bedroom units to accommodate larger groups.

It is accessible by paved road (the last 1/4 mi is gravel), but sits in a secluded, quiet subdivision on the Horse Butte peninsula of Hebgen Lake, 9 miles outside the town of West Yellowstone.

This home is located in the mountains of Montana just minutes from the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park. It is named after one of the most spectacular birds living in North America, the Sandhill Crane. These giant, prehistoric looking birds (think Stork) migrate through our region and many of them spend their summers here raising their young. The male and female call out in harmony, and you'll likely hear this sweet song mornings and evenings from the condo. Check the photos section for a picture.

It offers truly awesome views and the subdivision is surrounded by Forest Service Land. Yellowstone Park is 15 minutes away, the Gallatin National Forest is less than one-quarter mile away, and the two main arms of beautiful Hebgen Lake are five minutes either way.

West Yellowstone has its own charms, with both summer and winter time activities, museums, theaters, dining and shopping.

The fishing, skiing, wildlife watching and geyser gazing are world renowned. Come stay in this quiet mountain retreat and spend time exploring this adventurer's wonderland!

Nature, quiet, & clean

  • 5 of 5

5 of us (my parents, my 17 year old son, and my husband and I) stayed in Sandhill East for 3 nights. Wish we could have stayed longer. It's a quick 10-15 minute drive to west Yellowstone entrance and we saw elk on the road leading to house. It is a very quiet area. The house is very clean and has all linens, dishes, etc. needed.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the review, and so glad that you enjoyed your stay! A lot of work is being done to the condo this winter including insulating and sealing the building, ceiling fans installed in the living rooms and bedrooms, and new patio furniture too!

Beautiful property

  • 4 of 5

Great location! Beautiful setting! Close to Yellowstone. House was clean and perfect for our family of 4. Neighbor dogs barked some and the shower curtain was ridiculously short.

AMAZING Time in West Yellowstone!

  • 5 of 5

Our family had an incredible vacation in West Yellowstone! Having the Sandhill East property to come home each night after exploring Yellowstone or Hebgen Lake was the perfect way to wind down, it was truly our home away from home. We enjoyed the beautiful views of Hebgen Lake from the front of the home and the abundant wildlife at the back. The property was well maintained and large enough for our family of 6 with the 2 bedrooms and one bath, living room with the pullout sofa and the eat in kitchen. We were able to prepare meals here in the well equipped kitchen and keep up on the laundry with the in house laundry room. We enjoyed the fact that we were only 9 miles from the West Yellowstone entrance and main street, grocery store, and restaurants, so we could access the amenities we needed but could enjoy the solitude of the property. We would highly recommend the property to family and friends and are in fact thinking of another trip back!!

Wonderful, peaceful location!

  • 5 of 5

The unit was everything we had hoped for! First the location--which is a bit remote, but so quiet, and the views of the lake are beautiful in the morning with the fog on it! It only took us about 15 minutes to get to and through the West Entrance to Yellowstone. That was very helpful. The first thing I noticed when we walked in the door was how clean and tidy the unit was, that is so appreciated. The beds are pretty comfortable. It was so nice having a washer and dryer too that we could use since the kids had already gotten so many of their clothes dirty! Thank you again! We hope to be back someday!

Nice location, clean townhouse

  • 4 of 5

Enjoyed our stay at Sandhill East. Used it as a place to stay with fast access to Yellowstone - it was a perfect and beautiful location. The home was clean and quite sufficient. Minor needs in the kitchen, like a working can opener.

Great stay!!!

  • 4 of 5

This place is perfect for a quiet cozy stay near Yellowstone. Had the majority of items that we needed. Close to town, but still far enough away from the hustle and bustle of tourists. Besides being a little outdated this place was VERY CLEAN!!! The only issues we had were the blinds in the kitchen and a broken can opener. Great views of the mountains and lake. Enjoyed my morning runs through the neighborhood. Hands down we WILL come back to Sandhill!!! My advice bring bug spray and watch out for the bats flying around at night haha!
