About the property

Two bedrooms (sleeps 4) both with en-suite bathrooms. Quiet location.

Built in the local rustic style, with decorative touches that echo the areas Moorish past. The bedrooms are on the ground floor creating cool summer sleeping and the living accommodation above in order to take advantage of one of the best views in the village, surpassed only by the magnificent panoramic vistas from the roof terrace. The house is situated in the old (upper) part of the village called ‘Castillo’ where the narrow winding streets reflect its Moorish history. ‘Castillo’ is a mainly pedestrian area ensuring peace and tranquillity since it is rarely disturbed by noisy village traffic.

We were completely satisfied with our stay at Casa Santa Maria. The house was very clean, had room to spread out and relax and best of all were the views of Montejaque. We also loved the town of Montejaque and ate tapas, drank beer and enjoyed the restaurants. Be prepared for some steep walks and parking is sparse but that was minor compared with all the other nice things. We brought our bicycles and if you are OK with hills the cycling is outstanding in the area. Scott and Laurie P

Ideal base for exploring and walking

Excellent property, well thought out and well equipped. Ideal as an activity base with extensive information in the property. Fantastic views from sun terrace and opportunities to watch wildlife. Not for those with mobility issues as is at top of village up steep streets and has many stairs.

The house was in an excellant condition and extremely well equipped. The views from the terrace and living room were tremendous. We loved everything about it. Montajaque was a lovely village with friendly residents .We particularly liked the fact that you could get everything you needed from the village so did not need to go off in the car to the shops. Brilliant information about local walks in the house. We have been going to Spain for fourty years and feel it was the best house we have ever stayed in.

Lovely Andalucian house at the top of Montejaque village - spotless, great views, friendly.

House is well presented and spotless, at the top of the village so great views down on the sierra as well as the mountains behind. Lots of wildlife spotting (Griffon Vultures, Ibex etc.), plenty of good local walks including Grazalema National Park, road cycle hire up the road in Montecorto (Andalucian Cycling Experience). Village has all you need - tapas bars, small restaurant, shop/supermarket, panaderia, bank. Days out to Ronda too. Only 1hr20mins from Malaga Airport (Easyjet). Spring weather was great too.

Beautiful house with fantastic views

Casa Santa Maria is a spacious house right at the top of the village with wonderful views whether on the roof terraced or thorough the doors of the living room. It felt lovely and homely with everything we needed. We travelled with hand luggage only so I left my hair dryer behind only to find one in the house. The BBQ area was nice and shaded for lunch out of the heat of the sun and we enjoyed several evenings on the roof terrace watching the vultures and eagles in the day or lying on sun beds with a bottle of wine watching shooting stars at night. The shops and bars are within easy walking distance. The bars in the village plaza stay open late and serve inexpensive tapas and sangria in a relaxed atmosphere by the fountain. The people in the village are friendly and it is lovely to experience the real Spanish life. No hotel could provide the same level of comfort or experience. I just wish we could've study end longer.

Loved this property from the moment of arrival

Loved the feel, decor & facilities of this house from the moment of arriving. Good base for mountains & beautiful Rhonda. Everything is catered for, very comfortable & extremely clean. Prompt replies to mails, easy to find with very helpful local lady. Roof terrace is amazing & lounge balcony windows also provide lovely views. Unusually very high temperatures whilst there, so air con would be only thing that would have improved our stay but wouldn't stop us returning to this super house. As we had bike there were no issues for us parking wise. Good supermarket & restaurants locally. Overall loved this property and homely & helpful touches the owners had thoughtfully provided.

Montejaque is nestled into the mountains on the edge of the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park. It is a walkers paradise and you can even enjoy the spectacular scenery without even leaving the house. The village of Montejaque has all your daily needs including a good selection of tapas bars and restaurants. Ronda, just 30 minutes away is a beautiful historic town. It is close enough to pop in for the evening or just for a wander through the atmospheric streets. The towns of Seville and Jerez are also within easy driving distance for the day.
