About the property

Tulum family friendly 2 Bedroom & 2 Bath Condo With Pool Views. (Sleeps 4)

Our home away from home, Casa de Calacas, is not a churn & burn rental. The first luxury condo complex in the 24 hour secured development of Aldea Zama. We are located in the jungle only 2 miles to the nearest Tulum beaches, restaurants, bars & shopping in town. The local major Grocery store, Chedraui, is 1.25 miles away.

1 King size bed in the master bedroom & 1 queen size bed in the guest bedroom, along with a queen sized air bed. Both are set with high quality linens, pillow, privacy blinds as well as black out shades for sleeping in, naps and privacy. All 3 major rooms have their own air conditioners and ceiling fans for the hot months. Our unit is conveniently located on the ground level with a wall of window sliders, opening to the view of the pool, which is only 8 feet off of the living room. The long & narrow communal pool is no more than 5 feet deep & also has a kiddie pool for the little ones. The front entry requires a security code & all the other gates require keys for entry. We have security personnel 24 hours a day. We have a private Wi-Fi network for our home, along with a communal Wi-Fi network around the pool. There is a small patio set for use on our patio in front of the pool, as well as a private tiled, back patio off of the Master Bedroom that has 2 chairs, a table & a hammock. The 2nd Bedroom closets are stocked with beach towels, sand & pool toys, a child sized life jacket, snorkel vest, pool lounger cushions, coolers & beach chairs. Both Bedrooms have a TV along with a Blu Ray/DVD player and dozens of movies that you can also access your Netflix account from. Room décor is nearly all hand crafted local artwork and furniture. We have completely supplied our kitchen with Tri-Clad cookware, Wüsthof cutlery & every thing you could possibly need to make the perfect meal using all the fabulous, fresh local fish, meats, fruits & veggies. Bring your favorite coffee beans & use the Braun grinder & coffee maker or buy some at the large local grocery store Chedraui, less than 1 mile away. A quality blender is there for the morning, power chia fruit smoothies, or blended mango margaritas in the afternoon/evening. We supply 2, 20 liter bottles of drinking water. Empties can be exchanged at the local grocery store for 25-28 pesos (sounds crazy but most rentals here do not provide drinking water nor a garrafon) We have a washer & dryer & a drying rack, along with the soaps & softeners needed to help ease the load from your packing list of clothing.

There is an ongoing ‘Welcome to our other home’ binder loaded with information about our home, WiFi passcodes for the community area WiFi access (our living room picks it up just fine) the local sights, cenotes, beach clubs & the most important (for us)…restaurants.

An emergency phone number list with the fire station (½ mile away), hospital address & # (1 mile away) & the police (½ mile away).

Bose iPod/iPhone Soundocks set with Bluetooth connection capability are in both bedrooms & the living room/kitchen area for your music enjoyment.

The liquor cabinet drawers are stocked with sets of maps for Tulum & every other region in the Riviera Maya for the explorers.

It is also stocked with locally made incense, right next to the phone # for the masseuse to schedule your massage (not included) for the extra relaxation boost.

2 normal flashlights for late night walks thru Aldea Zama sidewalks thru the jungle. 2 night-lights throughout the condo, which automatically turn on if the power should ever go out.

iBike Tulum up the street is where we suggest guests rent bikes if you choose not to rent a car.

We spend every spare moment we have here & have everything we think we need for a comfortable, fabulous, relaxing vacation & hope you do as well.

About Kim

We are a family of 3 living in the Portland, OR area. We own a small, family run pizzeria here in the land of rain & have been vacationing in the Riviera Maya since we fell in love with the region in 2006.

Kim purchased this condo in 2012

Why Kim chose Aldea Zama

We returned as often as we could while working as hard as we could, dreaming of owning small piece of paradise. Once we felt the laid back feel of Tulum, and the 6 miles of the most beautiful beach we had seen, we knew we wanted to make Tulum a piece of us. And before we knew it, we were able to buy our home away from home in Tulum. Our home isn't a churn & burn rental property, it is our home. We have the highest of quality furnishings & accessories & do our best to make sure it is clean & fresh for every guest.

What makes this condo unique

Our condo is conveniently located in the jungle, half way between the beach and the town.

Really great condo and location!

  • 5 of 5

Everything was just as noted in the description and all the reviews. We found the location to be perfect distance between beach and town and, with the bike path just outside the development entrance, we took full advantage of ibike and used the awesome taxi service when bikes didn’t make sense. Thank you Kim and Brian for sharing your beautiful space. We’re already dreaming about a return trip in 2019!

Wonderful!

  • 4 of 5

This was our first visit to Tulum and we really enjoyed staying at Kim's condo. The condo grounds are beautiful and the location, Aldea Zama, was ideal. We rented bikes and that worked out perfectly. It was a short ride into town and to the beaches. A great way to get in some exercise while enjoying your surroundings. We rode our bikes everywhere even to get snacks and refreshments at Chedraui. We didnt cook during our stay because there are many places to try and we wanted to enjoy the cuisine. We enjoyed having dinner at the Kitchen Table (in the jungle) and our favorite beach was Playa Paraiso...soft white sand and a wide beach area. For 200 pesos you can rent a spot there which includes a table, chairs, Mattress and umbrella. In town we enjoyed breakfast at del Cielo...healthy fresh options and great atmosphere. Thanks Kim!

Very nice well equipped condo with beautiful view of the pool area!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed at this beautiful condo for 12 days from Feb 12 thru Feb 24 and enjoyed it immensely. This condo complex is very quite and laid back. The area of Aldea Zama is located nicely between the town of Tulum and the beautiful beaches. We’ve rented numerous condos over the years while on vacation and this one ranks right up at the top. A very nice gentleman by the name of Antonio met us when we arrived and gave us is phone number and told us to call if we needed anything. We also used a taxi driver by the name of Mario who was recommended by the owners and he was excellent. His card is on the fridge. We will miss this place and not hesitate to spend another vacation here.

Great stay! Very peaceful place to hang out!

  • 5 of 5

Lovely condo in Tulum. We spent 6 nights in Kim's place. It was very comfortable and well stocked. The bedrooms are quiet with firm beds. Bathrooms are lovely. A/c very ample. The living area and kitchen are great. The kitchen has quality items for every need. Water is provided with your refilling.Beatifully decorated with local art. The location was safe with onsite security. Ample parking. We put our feet in the pool but the cooler temps made the water a bit chilly.

We liked the location. We walked to town but mainly used a car. Nice to be out of the busy main drag. The area is in a condo neighborhood with surrounding jungle. Lots of new building going on. However, no real noise or problems due to this. The tulum beaches are close. Beautiful but a bit crowded near the ruins. We went farther south to find peace and quiet. Tulum has good access to cenotes and ruins. Enjoyed diving the cenotes and day trips to Chichén Itzá and coba.

Kim was always responsive via email! No problems at all! Highly recommended.

Great Condo for Family Stay in Tulum

  • 4 of 5

Everything went very smoothly with this quiet condo at Zama Village. We had no problems with keys or codes and everything was well stocked, clean and comfortable.

We used Canada Transfers shuttle service from the Cancun Airport to home again (at a cost of $200 USD plus tips return for a van, we had 6 people in our group.) It took us about 2 hours each direction with traffic and we were happy with our choice to use them.

The staff at the condo was very friendly and helpful and the pool area well maintained.

The large grocery store is about a 10 minute bike ride away and did have everything you could need for food and personal items.

We were there with a group of people and each family had individually rented their own condo in the Aldea Zama area (which is pretty spread out.)

Our favorite beach was in front of the Pocna Tulum Hotel and Beach Club en-route to the Ruins of Tulum. Beautiful, and if you pay $500 pesos you can have a beach cabana with restaurant service for the day (it was worth it for me.) Biking to this spot from the condo was doable on bikes or if you are hot and tired is is a short taxi ride.

I recommend spending a day at Xel-Ha, its well worth the $100 US entrance fee. The park is huge, very well organized and includes all the little extras that you need including unlimited food and drinks all day (we were there 10am to closing at 6pm.) All you need to do is show up in a bathing suite and sunscreen and they provide the rest in your entrance fee: lockers, snorkel gear, life jackets, towels, lounge chairs and floating air mattresses.

We all loved the food and tried many different restaurants - really enjoyed Malevo across from the Grocery Store, Estancia Jujene downtown and Mateo's Mexican Grill, Tulum Beach Road area.

Thank you Kim for providing such a great home base for our wonderful Tulum holiday :)

What a beautiful place

  • 5 of 5

The condo was clean, bright, and stocked with just about everything we could have needed. It's location was perfect....far enough away from the town of Tulum to be quiet and peaceful, but not so far that we couldn't get around.

All the amenities were first class. Can't wait to go back!!
