The Lorelei Cabins have been taking care of guests for 5 years with many return customers. You will find the site to be a relaxing and an awesome way to unwind. The owners take great pride in providing a great experience for all who stay. The property has been privately owed since 1930, and remains isolated and truly in nature, yet a few miles away is downtown Dubuque.
Laura purchased this Cabin in 2010
Why Laura chose Dubuque
This cabin is beautifully decorated, warm and inviting with a gas fire stove, hot tub, deck with grill, outdoor fire pit and many included amenities. This is a two story cabin, roomy, yet cozy. Everything is provided from sheets to towels, to a fully equipped kitchen with coffee ready to brew. Bring your own food and never leave the area! A great alternative to hotel style getaways. Lots of land to spread out on and explore. Games on site as well as snow shoe equipment to utilize!
What makes this Cabin unique
Beautiful hiking trails, two fishing ponds, gorgeous Catfish Creek surround a beautifully decorated home to enjoy and relax. There are big decks, and a yard to play games or just lounge around. We ofter see deer and turkey in the hills, and recently saw our first eagle. The wildlife is awesome any season. Sunsets are beautiful. Close to Sundown Ski Resort and Downtown Dubuque.

The cabin and setting were absolutely perfect for our couples weekend. So relaxing and peaceful! Would love to come back in the fall to enjoy the fall colors! Thank you for sharing your cabin with us.
Nice place. Host thinks of everything. You really need to bring nothing but yourself and some food! Very secluded but conveniently located close to town.
Everything was amazing this weekend. There was so much room for our boys to run around and roam. We had everything we needed indoors. One minor thing would be to include directions for how to use the TVs (we never did figure out how to use the one in the basement), but we only used it in the mornings for the kids to watch while we made breakfast. The beds were comfortable after a long day of hiking and exploring, and having a washer and dryer was a huge plus. My kids are already asking when we can go back. Thank you for a lovely weekend!
Perfect location with great views
The Aster cabin was absolutely perfect. This house was only 15 minutes from downtown Dubuque, but it feels like you are secluded from everything. The views from the cabin are absolutely stunning with all of the snow and rolling hills. Laura was great and provided us with great dinner recommendations and even baked cookies for our arrival. We will definitely be planning on coming back.
Exactly the relaxing weekend we needed!
Gorgeous property! We felt like we were "away from it all" while still being able to make a quick trip into downtown Dubuque for their amazing farmer's market! The hubs loved catching bass in the pond and having a private trail running course right outside our cabin, and I loved reading and sipping wine on the screened in porch. We've already been talking about our next visit - we would love to see the property brilliant with fall colors or peacefully covered in snow!
Why not 5 stars?? Loved having you and hope you’ll be back!!
Sound of Silence
My husband and I stayed in the Aster cabin for our first ever visit to Iowa for a family wedding. The area is beautiful. The cabin was perfect giving us a sense of calm and relaxation after spending a couple days in Chicago. As soon as you turn into the drive you leave the world behind and hear the sounds of silence...it is so peaceful. My husband said he could do this for another month if we didn't have to return to work. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Located 10 minutes from downtown Dubuque, Iowa, and the Mississippi River Museum, the river walk, casinos, bars and restaurants, Sundown Ski Resort and great hiking trails, snowshoeing, and Swiss Valley Nature Center. You must ride the Fourth Street Elevator in downtown Dubuque!
