About John M Pearch

Pier Cove is a beautiful area along Lake Michigan. I have lived in the area for nearly a decade and my extended family has come to love the area as we spend many holidays here. It was a family decision to purchase this cottage in 2012 to preserve the 10 acres this charming cottage lies upon.

John M Pearch purchased this cabin in 2012

Why John M Pearch chose Southwest

This property and home are located just off Pier Cove Beach and adjacent to the Pier Cove Nature Preserve containing many trails and streams that flow out to Lake Michigan. It is conveniently located half way between South Haven and Holland, but just a few short miles into Saugatuck and Douglas resort towns. Within a few steps you can enjoy the beach, but within a short drive you have all the conveniences of shops, eating establishments, golf, fishing charters, live theater, and art galleries.

What makes this cabin unique

From the cobblestone fireplace in the main room to the claw tub in the bathroom, this home is full of charm and simplicity from a by gone era. A true classic among the Lake Michigan cottages and never open to the public before. If a turn of the century vacation is what you had in mind, look no further. In keeping with its originality in mind, minimal changes have been made, but essentials have been well thought out, from new mattresses and bedding to updated appliances for the kitchen. A rain shower has been added for above the claw tub as the only shower is the one outdoor connected to the back of the house! Maximum Occupancy: Five {5}

Guestbook comments from the owner

Perhaps one of the best weeks ever. There was so much to do. Between walks on the beach in the morning, and treks on the trails in the midday, and roasting marshmallows at night, we never had a dull moment.

The small towns were so picturesque. We went window shopping for hours and ate at really wonderful places--the Salt of the Earth was a particular favorite. There were so many cool shops that had local products, as well as, artisan crafts. There is a little something for everyone.

Great stay in cozy cabin!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I spent a week at the cabin and had a great experience. Pier Cove beach is right down the road and we walked to the beach every morning. Excellent clean beach and not too crowded. The cabin has a great sun room that we spent a lot of time drinking coffee and playing cards in. Overall the cabin was rustic, yet clean and tidy, cozy, and perfect for a family getaway to enjoy each other and nature. We would definitely stay again.

A nice rustic getaway

  • 4 of 5

We had a very nice time. The owners are attentive and available to answer questions or help. The rustic nature of the cabin may not be to everyone's taste, but we found it to be charming. The kitchen is updated and well appointed with dishes, utensils and appliances. If you arrive when it is hot, the only air conditioners are in the bedrooms, and you need to use fans to push the cooled air round the cabin, but it all works fine.

Owner's Response: We appreciate hearing back from our guests and are happy that they enjoyed staying at our cottage. We also like hearing suggestions from one guest's stay that may help future guests. As was mentioned in this review (but also listed in the property description), the only air conditioning available are the two window units in both bedrooms. It definitely will help to use the fans to push the cooler air throughout the cabin. And of course, if there is a cool breeze, opening the windows will also make a difference.

Awesome stay

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I had the best time at the cabin. The lake was close, the area was beautiful and the people in the towns were great! They have the entire kitchen stocked with spices, herbs, utensils and even a water filter so no need to bring anything at all!

Girls Getaway was perfect in this cabin!

  • 5 of 5

Our girls trip was wonderful. This cabin is just lovely with tons of character! John, the owner, was accommodating with our requests. Everything we needed was at our fingertips. We had dinner out 2 evenings and made dinner in the cabin one evening. A hop skip and a jump to the beach and close to Douglas, Saugatuck and the Allegan Antique Market. Lovely place with tons of history!!! Well-cared for! Great weekend!!!
