Pool is nice, beach access not very easy

  • 3 of 5

This is a nice, clean rental home with updated interior. It has a nice front porch that views the ocean (2nd row, from across the street). The pool was a great amenity, and we really enjoyed the picnic table down there and the fact that it was shaded. The beds are comfortable, and the bunk beds are doubles, which is nice.

Beach access is a pretty good hike, because you have to walk down about 5 houses either way, it's kind of located between beach access points. The frontage beach road doesn't have sidewalks either, which made it pretty difficult to get there with all of our beach stuff and two little kids, with cars whizzing past. But both beach access points also have parking, so there is the option to drive.

The kitchen was pretty sparse on utensils and cooking wares. Nonstick cookware is severely flaking off and just marginally useful. There was no flyswatter or broom, two things I think are pretty essential for a beach house.

Also be aware that there are no beach items that come with the rental. Other times we have rented, we were able to use a beach wagon that rented with the house. Given how far this house is from the beach access, that would have been really useful.

When we arrived, there was someone there attempting to "fix" the internet, but he was unable. Unfortunately, instead of proactively getting the internet/cable fixed, the homeowner seemingly ignored the problem, leaving me to spend a not inconsiderable amount of time on the phone with the cable company, the rental company, and the rental property wireless provider over the first 3 days of my vacation. I understand things break, but it seemed like the homeowner knew it wasn't working and just left it up to the renters to figure it out. Luckily, the rental company offered me a small credit for the inconvenience, but I can't get my time back.

Overall, we will probably not rent this property again, but it is a decent home with the pool. Just bring your own cookware, and beach wagon.
