Very Enjoyable!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent a most enjoyable month this spring at "The Cypresses" outside of Lucca. The property is amazing, surrounded by vineyards and olive trees--so quiet and secluded, yet only a couple of km from the city. We loved getting to know Lucca and its surroundings from our "home base." Our hostesses were so very gracious -- they offered us helpful advice about many local restaurants and attractions "off the tourist path." We appreciated having a full kitchen (with a view!) and laundry facilities for our month-long stay. Another plus is the property's proximity to the Fondazione Campus in Monte San Quirico, which offers courses in language study -- we arranged for private Italian lessons during our visit. <http://laureaturismo.campuslucca.it/en/servizi/la-sede/>

I would recommend The Cypresses for anyone with a sense of adventure who wants to experience the real Tuscany. Una buono vacanza!

Owner's Response: We want to say thank you to Donna and John for choosing our holiday home for their stay and also for the beautiful feedback they left for us. We were really happy to accomodate them too. They are very nice and polite. Donna and John have a great spirit of adventure and a sense of humor. They are sporty and love cycling. It was a pleasant surprise for us to know that they followed the Italian language course at the University near us. They love to explore places outside of the usual tourist itineraries to discover the true "genius loci "of the countries they visit. Every owner will certainly feel comfortable with them. We look forward to hosting them again.

A peaceful get away

  • 4 of 5

Lovely and quiet place with a true Tuscan feeling. The ladies (and neighbors) were extremely helpful and nice to our family. My children enjoyed playing outside. The location was great for seeing the Tuscan sights such as Florence, Pisa, Lucca, volterra, the beach, Cinque Terre. It was nice to come back to a quiet place after a day in the city.

very pleasant and affordable flat near Lucca

  • 5 of 5

Spent two nights at this pleasant flat about ten minutes from downtown Lucca on the grounds of a very private estate. Two lovely young sisters greeted me upon arrival. Directions were good, rooms were large and apartment exceeded my expectations. Its not luxury, but for the price a GREAT deal. Attractive grounds (I went for a nice walk around the property one morning - very special area). Wifi was a little fussy. Nice gift of Olive oil from estate upon my arrival. I will return!

So sad To Leave!

  • 5 of 5

We spent five wonderful days at the villa and if given the opportunity, we would return. We didn't quite know what to expect, but as soon as we began our drive up the long, grape vine and olive tree lined drive way, I knew we were in for something very special. The villa sits atop a hill where you can see parts of Lucca and the surrounding mountains. We enjoyed the secluded locale, and I felt comfortable letting my children explore the surrounding area. The children had a great time riding bicycles around the property, and catching minnows and baby frogs in the nearby creek that runs along the back of the property. The villa itself was charming; just what you would envision for your Tuscan home away from home. The villa was clean, cozy, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. What made the stay even better was the hospitality of Guilia, and her daughters. We were so exhausted from traveling the night we arrived that we didn't feel like going out to dinner. Guilia's youngest daughter was happy to order pizza for us. We enjoyed the mouthwatering pizza al fresco along with a bottle of wine from the villa. We were very happy with the location of the villa; only a five minute drive to downtown Lucca. We happened to be in Lucca on the third weekend of the month, which is when Lucca plays host to the largest antique market in the region. I left the market with several unique and beautiful treasures from Italy. Lucca is a charming village and is certainly one of the "hidden gems" of Tuscany. I would recommend a visit to Lucca if you want to experience the real "la dolce vita" without the tourist traps. All in all, we had a memorable stay. It was one of the most relaxing vacations we have had, and that says allot considering we had our four children with us!

Owner's Response: Hillary and her lovely family "keep us company" for 5 nice days. It was a really pleasure for us to hear often the little voices of their children playing carefree in the garden. They were lively, full of desire to know and very well behaved. The family was able to organize the stay alternating outputs for sightseeing and real moments of relax with a lot of stroll around our homeholiday, eating outdoors in the garden, doing bike rides, proving to admire the landscape. They were expansive and very nice from the beginning and it was a pleasure for us to help them to organize the first moments of their resort. Hillary is very sweet, really young, with a lot of love of life; she is able to convey to the others her joy of living. The young mother of Hillary is nice and she takes care looking after children with the energy of a twenty year old. Hillary's husband is a kind and friendly person. We can define them as a family that everyone would like to have as a neighbor. We take this opportunity to thank them for having chosen our Italian property, our farm for their stay.

Charming Tuscany Villa, Something Out of a Movie

  • 5 of 5

This villa is a hidden gem! There was four of us traveling together, two friends traveling with our sons. We were met at the villa by two of the owner's daughters. They were very sweet! They took time to show us around the apartment and also made suggestions on things we could see and do in the walls of Lucca. This property is breathtaking. It's a working organic wine vineyard and they also produce olive oil. All of which you are able to purchase if you wish. I purchased two bottles of their olive oil to bring back home with me to the States. A wonderful reminder of our stay there in Lucca. The apartment has a well equipped kitchen, it had everything we needed to prepare meals. The beds were comfortable. The rooms have lots of storage. There are beautiful antique pieces of furniture in this apartment, that have been in their family for generations. I loved them! The dish hutch in the kitchen is gorgeous and the view out the kitchen window at day break was stunning!

We so enjoyed our stay and sincerely hope that we will be able to return there again in the future. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality!
