Lake Almanor is a fisherman's dream. Whether fishing for chinook salmon, brown or rainbow trout, large or small mouth bass, even catfish....this is the place to be. If you enjoy fly fishing, there are streams close by to visit.
Those of you who are pilots and want to fly in for your vacation experience at beautiful Lake Almanor, there is Rogers Field in Chester that is just 5 miles from the Lake Almanor West community.
We have known each other almost all our lives. We were born in the same hospital in Sacramento, California just 8 days apart. We didn't actually meet until we were 13 years old when we both lived in Carmichael, California. From that time on, we knew we wanted to get married someday. We have been married 49 years and have known each other for 53 years. We have 6 children, 16 grandchildren and 5 great grand children. Stubbornness and perseverance is the glue that has held us together all these years!! Actually, we love each other dearly!!
Owner/Property Manager purchased this house in 1992
Years ago we would come to Lake Almanor as a family and camp while my boys and I would archery hunt. We all thoroughly enjoyed the beauty and serenity of the area. So in 1992 we bought our home on the lake as a second home. We wanted to have a place for the family to come vacation year round. Within the first year of buying our home, we made the decision to live here full time. Because I was a private pilot, I was able to live in this beautiful area and fly down to southern California for 3 days a week where we owned our own business. We have thoroughly enjoyed all the spectacular seasons here at Lake Almanor. Winter, spring, summer and fall. It doesn't get much better than this.
From the back door, we can enjoy the wonders of nature, go fishing from the dock, go boating, jet skiing, water skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, cross country skiing and a myriad of other water and snow activities. Not to mention just relaxing and soaking up the sun as well as admire and take in the splendor and beauty this area has to offer.
What an amazing home! I rented this home to have Thanksgiving with my extended family, and it was perfect. The kitchen is completely stocked with gadgets and utensils, no need to bring anything special to cook with! Not to mention spices and oils, all there!
The bedrooms are large, clean and comfortable. Everyone enjoyed their stay. The game room is just the best! A great place to hang out with a beautiful view to boot. It needs some updating, but when we let the owners know the things we saw that needed work they were quick to reply and let me know it would be taken care of.
No matter the season, you will not find a better lakefront location. We had snow while we were there and had a blast going out and playing in it in the backyard, but were still able to go fish off the dock. I can't imagine how great the place would be in the summer months!
Overall just a wonderful, wonderful home to visit the Lake Almanor region.
I have been going to Lake Almanor for 30 years and have rented many houses that were very nice but this one is my favorite. I loved seeing Mt. lassen and the lake from the kitchen, dining room and Master bedroom 24/7. The organization of the house was impeccable with things to do for every age.The organized toy bins for babies and toddlers to pool, ping pong, air hockey and fuseball kept us all quite entertained in the evenings. I appreciated the cleanliness of the home and that everything was well maintained. The easy access to the dock/lake made boating and playing in the water a frequent and fun part of our day. The Internet worked better in this house than in any other I have experience. The kitchen was well stocked and easily accommodated our 11 people. The open concept kitchen family room and dining allowed us to be together from meal prep to clean up making this a fun part of the day as well. The outdoor space allowed for many lawn games and the front was perfect for scooters and young bike riders. We look forward to going again next year.
We had a wonderful time at the Bears Den. It's perfectly set up for a large, multi-generational family with rooms for games and for quiet time. If you are considering renting this property, the home "comes as promised". The dock is great, the rooms spacious and comfortable. Important to us was the large dining table for family meals. Plus there are several outdoor eating areas -- a picnic table, and two decks -- one usually in shade, the other in sun. The owners are very responsive and their love of the home shows through. We look forward to another family vacation at the Bears Den.
We just spent a week celebrating our 50th anniversary. There were 13 of us for a couple of days, and 12 for the whole week, ranging in age from almost 6 to 72. We all had a great time, spending a good deal of time in the water down at the boat dock and playing in the game room. The little kids (6, 8, and 10) and the teen agers particularly enjoyed the game room. The beds and bathrooms worked out fine, and the kitchen had everything we needed. Every evening the adults retired to the deck and welcomed the bats! We saw a bald eagle fly by one morning. Excellent spot.
The house and property were a perfect setting for our recent family reunion. It's not easy finding a house that can accommodate 5 different families, and each family wanting a king or queen size bed! This house was perfect for us, and each family had their own bedroom, with two teenagers staying up in the loft. The kitchen was everyone's favorite room with the spectacular view of Mt. Lassen. The large kitchen was great for meal preparation--we could do our slicing and dicing without getting into each other's way while doing it. For us, the house being on the lake was what made this location work for us. The family was able to boat, sunbathe, and play in the lake without needing to get in a car to do it. We were able to eat outdoors every evening while enjoying watching the sunset. We would not hesitate to highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a relaxing stay with enough bedrooms for a large family!
Our family of 15 spent a week in June - our second year. All of us really enjoy being together in this home. It is as described. It is spacious and every room is immaculate. None of us ever felt that we were in each other's way. It feels bigger than the pictures show. The furnishings are nice. The beds are comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped. The large game room was a hit.
Both Marvin and Kassie are gracious and readily available if needed.
The decks are nice - one is always shaded - the lawn area is large enough for outside games.
We really like the west shore - not so windy and the lake has fewer boats - the view of Mt. Lassen is so beautiful. It's a nice area to hike, ride bikes, walk to the community park and tennis courts as well as being able to enjoy the 9 hole golf course that is so close.
We have recommended this home to others - it's a very spacious and immaculate home.
Most water sports as well as many winter sports such as; snowmobiling, cross country skiing and snowshoeing can be done directly from the house. Downhill skiing at Coppervale ski area is 42 miles east on Hwy. 36 from the house. Lakefront views from almost every room. Mountain views are of Mt. Lassen and Stover.
