About Owner/Property Manager

We have known each other almost all our lives. We were born in the same hospital in Sacramento, California just 8 days apart. We didn't actually meet until we were 13 years old when we both lived in Carmichael, California. From that time on, we knew we wanted to get married someday. We have been married 49 years and have known each other for 53 years. We have 6 children, 16 grandchildren and 5 great grand children. Stubbornness and perseverance is the glue that has held us together all these years!! Actually, we love each other dearly!!

Owner/Property Manager purchased this house in 1992

Why Owner/Property Manager chose Lake Almanor West

Years ago we would come to Lake Almanor as a family and camp while my boys and I would archery hunt. We all thoroughly enjoyed the beauty and serenity of the area. So in 1992 we bought our home on the lake as a second home. We wanted to have a place for the family to come vacation year round. Within the first year of buying our home, we made the decision to live here full time. Because I was a private pilot, I was able to live in this beautiful area and fly down to southern California for 3 days a week where we owned our own business. We have thoroughly enjoyed all the spectacular seasons here at Lake Almanor. Winter, spring, summer and fall. It doesn't get much better than this.

What makes this house unique

From the back door, we can enjoy the wonders of nature, go fishing from the dock, go boating, jet skiing, water skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, cross country skiing and a myriad of other water and snow activities. Not to mention just relaxing and soaking up the sun as well as admire and take in the splendor and beauty this area has to offer.

Property is pristine. Home far grander than photos portray. Gorgeous views of lake and Mt. Lassen.

We just had the most wonderful family reunion at the Bear's Den! Marvin and Kassie met us there to show us their fabulous home, in which they take deserved pride. Everyone truly loved the home! The five children screamed in delight when they saw it! The views of Mt.Lassen and the lake from the kitchen, dining room, decks, master bedrooms, dock, and yard literally take your breath away.. There are so many play opportunities on site that it's hard to take advantage of all of them as much as one would like, especially when there are the great water experiences available right off the lovely new dock. We had our ski boat, a raft, a kayak, and their paddle boat tied to it, and used all of them extensively. We played the horseshoe game available, and set up our own badmitton game. We had watercolor activities going on the shaded table near the dock and set up a baby pool on the sandy area near it, as the lake water was a bit chilly in June. We fished from the dock and from our boat in the early morning still waters. Family members from the cities were amazed that we seemed to "own the lake." There were almost no other people besides ourselves on the lake--so peaceful!

The enormous kitchen and dining table made family meals easy and fun! The bedrooms were quite comfy. The master bedroom upstairs is to die for. Everything was very, clean and well organized. There are photos in the kitchen cabinets to help us know where to put items back. The game room is the finest one could ever imagine in a private home: ping pong, foosball, pool, air hockey, work out machines, game table, and TV center. As one of us said, it's like going to a bar to play table games, but not have to deal with obnoxious people! We designed a treasure hunt, as there are so many clever places to hide clues! The living room or the large dining table were favorite places for family games.

We also took advantage of the sandy beach and playground and the pickle ball courts that are available for owners. Such fun! We found the bicycle trail through the woods along the lake that takes off from the playground and had some great rides.

Our only sadness is that Marvin and Kassie may sell this home and maybe it won't be available for us to rent again. We feel so grateful to have at least experienced it once.

We appreciate the owners so much and wish them the very best.

Owner's Response: We appreciate so much your fabulous review of our home and property and are so pleased that you enjoyed it, as well as had such a great time with your family. Family is what it's all about. Our goal is to have our home be as comfortable, convenient and enjoyable as possible for our guests. Sounds like from your great review that we not only met that goal, but exceeded it. If we are renting again next year, your family will certainly be welcome to come back. Many thanks again for your wonderful review.

Great week at Almanor West 2018

  • 5 of 5

Everything at the Bear's Den met all our expectations. Had a very large group (16) of family and friends and never felt cramped in this place. Great porch seating in the shade all day, spacious living and dining room for the evenings. Bonus to have a horseshoe pit and brand new dock to tie up to for the boat and wave runners.

Even smoky skies from northern CA fires could not interrupt a great week.

Thanks again Marvin and Kassie!

Regards

Mark

Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Great family vacation - everyone had a wonderful time - only thing we missed was having a beach for the kids to play on around the water - there is no beach for easy access for the kids to go in and out of the water and to just sit and relax down by the water. Still the vacation was very relaxing.

Thanks Marvin

Owner's Response: Happy to know that your family had a wonderful and relaxing time at our vacation rental home. It was so nice to meet you and we appreciate you taking the time to write a review. Just down the street and around the corner to the left, there is a park with a beach area as well as play equipment for children and games for teenagers and adults that is quite a nice area. We are so sorry if you weren't aware of the park and its many amenities . We thought there was information about it in your packet regarding that area. We will make sure people know about it in the future. Thank you again for your review.
