Lovely place in quiet area
Our overall experience was very good, although we encountered a few bumps in the road. Han is a very proactive owner, and she responds quickly to any concerns that may arise. We were greeted by two bars of dark chocolate in the kitchen and nicely folded towels wrapped in ribbon in each bedroom. A lovely touch. The apartment itself is a sparsely furnished 3-bedroom, very clean, one that feels recently renovated, with modern appliances and bathroom fixtures. It should not be confused, however, with a "home" that an owner has invested years of blood, sweat, and tears decorating and filling with life. It is devoid, as a consequence, of a genuine "human" touch, its decorations and amenities purely functional rather than personal. This may be a selling point to many renters. There are few rugs on the floors, no books on the shelves, no clutter whatsoever. It feels, in this sense, like a surrogate hotel room, and this is perfectly acceptable for many, if not most, renters. The neighborhood is urban but surprisingly quiet, within walking distance of Montreal's best museums. I recommend a nice stroll to the northwest, where one encounters a lovely park with a children's playground and some of Montreal's most luxurious homes. Cafes are nearby, as are multiple super markets. The neighborhood is a bit in transition, with some buildings in various states of renovation and something of an urban edge on nearby blocks. Now, for the bumps. The Wifi in the apartment was problematic for most of our 3-day stay, and for a modern renter, having reliable, uninterrupted access to the internet is a MUST. The steep stairwell that leads to the apartment is dark and musty, and the light switch is difficult to find; this led to a harrowing entrance, lugging heavy suitcases in the near-dark. The kitchen is clean and well supplied-- excellent for preparing breakfast-- but it is not the best space to host a larger meal, as there is inadequate seating for a large group. I attribute all these faults to Han's being new to the rental game, and I am confident that as she gets more accustomed to the expectations of the typical renter, the place will be excellent in all aspects.
It was a very nice home, very clean
This cozy home is located right in Downtown's heart. 5 mins walk from the most trendy Saint-Catherine Street. 5 mins away from all the best asian, western, eastern and fusion gourmet food restaurants. Also close by Atwater and Guy-Concordia Subway stations. Both are only 5-10 mins walk away from our beautiful property. You can enjoy perfectly the nightlife just 15 mins away from home on the trendy hip crescent street with amazing bars, clubs and restos. Also many cute coffee shops around the area. Best location to discover Montreal!!
