Bright, Sunny Victorian Home!

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,700 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 - 4 nights

About the property

Larkspur House is a fully updated 1880's cottage. Sunny, bright and cozy. Big windows and beautiful wood floors throughout the house. Our home is perfect for a couple, family or group of friends. Three bedrooms include one queen bed in the front bedroom, one queen bed in the back bedroom and one bedroom with 3 twin beds: double twin bunk bed and pull out trundle. Two recently updated full baths - one with a great claw-foot tub for soaking. The kitchen is large and fully furnished with everything a serious cook needs. Large dining room and comfortable living room. A small reading sunroom and laundry room make the house wonderful for an extended stay. The yard is large and full of native flowers. It is on a quiet street so a great place for sitting outside for morning coffee or afternoon drinks. Just a block to shops and restaurants downtown and our property backs up to the Mineral Belt Trail which is a great spot for running and biking in the summer and is a groomed nordic track for skiing and snowshoeing in the winter months.

About Sara McKenna

Our family has loved Leadville for many years now and we hope you will love this great city as much as we do! We are based in Denver but love to make it up to Leadville whenever we can to enjoy all the wonderful things that Leadville has to offer!

Sara McKenna purchased this house in 2004

Why Sara McKenna chose South Central

When we first walked into the house the sun was streaming through that beautiful south facing bay window onto the hardwood floors. We saw the little sunroom, perfect for curling up with a good book, and knew it was the perfect place for our family to enjoy our favorite mountain town. Great neighborhood and neighbors and perfect for walking downtown - we could not have asked for more in a home.

What makes this house unique

The location is one of the best! Perched up on a hill with panoramic views of Turquoise Lake and the surrounding mountain ranges year round. This is the perfect house for the cook/reader/gardener/hiker/skier/runner....

Charming and relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

This home is like something out of an Anthropologie magazine. It was the perfect location for walking to all of Leadville's attractions. It was perfect for my family and had everything we could need for cooking and relaxing. The gift basket was a warm and welcome touch! We would stay again.

Great spot right in Leadville.

  • 5 of 5

Nice and clean home with two full baths. This house is a quaint Victorian typical Leadville home. It's just over one block to Harrison Ave. which is the main drag in town. I would recommend this to anyone looking for easy access to ski hills, wilderness and small town living.

Great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay in Larkspur House. This property truly felt like someone's home, not just a vacation property. My friend visiting from Louisiana wanted to stay month just so she could read the many books throughout the house.

We had a great time skiing, snowshoeing, and going to the hot springs. We hope to return next year.

Such an adorable house!

  • 5 of 5

My family of 7 stayed in this wonderful house while we skied at Cooper Mtn. It had everything we needed and more. Even the towels are awesome! The kitchen is well stocked with anything you need - she even keeps extras from the previous guest like spices and unopened food packages - love that she doesn't waste them.

The house is close enough to the town that you can walk if you want.

We'll definitely stay here again.

Leadville is a small, historic mountain town in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. We are within 1 hour of 7 ski areas. The house is walking distance from the Mineral Belt Trail - an 11+ mile paved loop around town, perfect for cross-country skiing in winter and biking/walking in summer. Other summer activities are too numerous to list! Hiking, fishing, biking, wildflowers, history, racing (participants/supporters/spectators), rafting... Winter is, of course, for skiing - alpine and cross-country- snowshoeing and snowmobiling.
