Wonderfully charming historical cottage

  • 4 of 5

Hurricane Hall was the perfect place to celebrate my 50th birthday with family and friends. As an architect that practices historically correct residential architecture, this was a treat for me. The house, while old and loaded with charm, did have some weird, quirky arrangements. One being that you have to walk through one of the largest bedrooms to get to another large bedroom with a private bath. It makes for a privacy issue. The bedroom on the third floor is not really suitable for taller people as the ceiling height is about 6'-0". The bathroom on this floor desperately needs a make over. One of the bathrooms on the second floor had just a very small claw foot tub with no shower or shower curtain so you could not use the tub. There was no mirror in that bathroom. Think it was an old staff/ help bathroom. But again, tons of original charm and character.

Original wallpaper, carpeting, furniture, lighting fixtures made for a great step back in time. As with any old house, you have these quirky, odd situations. This was the right choice for my group. We all just loved the house, it's location, charm and private beach.

Fantastic Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We just got back from a week here and the house was everything we hoped for. It was spacious, comfortable, filled with light and sounds of the ocean. We loved that we had our own section of the beach and the kids loved the short walk there. A perfect vacation, we plan to go back

The best family reunion spot!

  • 5 of 5

We surprised my parents on their 50th wedding anniversary with a weekend at Hurricane Hall this past September. It was the most wonderful weekend we could have hoped for! The house is just lovely, was able to accommodate my three siblings and their children with space for all, and could not have been more perfect for a large family gathering. The owners were wonderful and were very easy to work with prior to our arrival. The house is clean, bright, and feels like a well loved family home. I would recommend this property in a heartbeat and look forward to the next time we can all gather there again.
