About the property

2 Bedroom 1 & 1/2 Bath

4 1/2 miles from Woodstock Village Green and 5 mile from Saugerties so come explore a true country experience at our newly renovated 19th century farm cottage. Located on a country road with Overlook Mountain as its backdrop, the cottage is part of our 100 acre tree farm, perfect for the artist, writer or anyone who wants to get away from it all yet a short drive to Woodstock or Saugerties. Out the front door of the cottage and across a small open field, enter the woods and follow trails that run throughout the property on which you can walk, mountain bike, and in winter snowshoe and cross country ski, as snow cover permits. You will find the newly renovated cottage to have full amenities, even as it retains its quaint country charm. Located between Woodstock (4 miles) and Saugerties (5 miles) the cottage is ideally situated to take advantage of the many activities the area provides. The cottage location just 5 miles from exit 20 at mile 101 on the New York State Thruway ensures easy access year-round.

Enter the four room cottage through a 28 foot long screen porch. A table on the porch allows for outdoor dining while porch furniture provides comfortable seating. The kitchen and living room both have oak floors and exposed wood ceilings. The beams in the living room show marks of the hand hewing that produced them more than a century ago, while an old hearth in the kitchen and low ceilings throughout evoke a warmer and simpler time. The kitchen is newly equipped with a gas range and oven, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator, and ample cooking and dining supplies. A center butcher block island provides plentiful space for food preparation and gathering round. A dining table comfortably seats four. Also downstairs off the kitchen is a bathroom with a glass-enclosed shower.

A stairway off a landing between the living room and kitchen leads upstairs to two bedrooms, both with queen size beds. The bedrooms are separated by a hallway and a half bath. Carpeting throughout the upstairs makes it especially cozy and welcoming. The cottage is suitable for children, a Pack ’n Play, Crib/Toddler Bed (you would need only to bring your own linens/bedding for them) and High Chair are available.

About The Owner

We came to the area in the late 60”s raised our children here and still love waking up every morning to the sounds of birds chirping, the sight of wildlife, snow falling across the fields and all the beauty that nature provides. Jeffrey retired from business is an avid hiker and can help you locate just the right hiking trail for your abilities and interests. Colleen not ready to retire enjoys her job teaching Anthropology, Women's Studies and Latin American Studies. Both Colleen and Jeffrey are experienced skiers and former ski instructors with the inside track on the areas ski facilities.

Why The Owner chose Saugerties

We lived in Woodstock for ten years before purchasing this property. The minute we saw it we knew it was one of a kind. Come visit the Cottage at Pine Grove Farm and you will know immediately why we moved here and have stayed for over thirty-six years!

What makes this house unique

Take advantage of our hundred acres with its trails and wildlife while enjoying the privacy of your own woods and open field. The colors of the fall foliage are other-worldly, the spring peepers will lull you to sleep, summer evenings seem to go on forever, winter is cozy with lots of outdoor activities. All year around, the night sky is simply spectacular.

Great, relaxing, comfortable stay at this adorable cottage in the woods!!! :)

  • 5 of 5

We had an excellent stay at this charming cottage. My colleague and I were working in Saugerties for a long weekend and completely loved returning back to this cottage each night to relax and unwind. The screened in porch is a great spot enjoying the surroundings. The cottage was extremely clean, the beds were very comfortable and clean, and everything was well cared for. Jeff and Colleen were so kind and accommodating and really lovely hosts. My coworker and I agreed that we need to return on vacation to enjoy the surroundings even more! Highly recommend this adorable cottage.

Excellent little cottage!

  • 5 of 5

Jeffrey and Colleen were very kind and accommodating. They take a lot of pride in and care of their rental, and it shows. They are on adjacent property and were immediately accessible, yet we had complete privacy. We felt right at home from the moment we arrived. The rental was clean, and had everything we needed. The grounds had a well-marked trail perfect for a little mid-day hiking.

We moved to a different location mid-vacation to be closer to New Paltz, and it was tough to "downgrade" to the second rental. We wished we had stayed here our entire trip!

Lovely place

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely, small cottage in a remote spot just outside of Woodstock, on a beautiful piece of land (with its own hiking trail). The cottage is cozy and well-equipped. The owners live nearby and are friendly and available. Great place for a get away, and in an area in which there is a lot going on. I will definitely return.

Fabulous stay in the woods

  • 5 of 5

What a gem of a place! Pictures do not do this property justice.... The property is absolutely gorgeous in the summer.. its private, it's serene and all you hear is the wildlife that surrounds you. The house was immaculate and very comfortable with all the modern amenities anyone would need if it were to rain or if you happened to want to hang out inside (great sound system, large screen TV, AC if needed, games, full kitchen, grill, etc.) We were unfortunately unable to walk the trails due to limited time & offsite plans but we got a tour of the property from the lovely owners (as well as delicious cookies!) the evening we arrived. We anticipate that we will be back soon to really kick back and enjoy all that the property has to offer. Cant wait for our next trip - I could easily spend several days on the property, chilling-out and staying put just to kick back and relax.

great get away

  • 4 of 5

Quiet rural setting, with very easy access to Woodstock, Saugerties, and Kingston. If you like like hiking, there are some great places nearby, and as close as the owners property! The hosts were very welcoming, and easily available for any questions.

Great Cozy Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We were two couple looking for a quiet getaway from the city for NYE weekend. This home was perfect. Space-wise for us two couples it was great. We each had our own private bedroom, the living area was roomy enough with two couches and chairs. The fireplace heat in there made it feel extra cozy!

Location-wise, it was away from town / busy roads enough for a nice quiet weekend, but within 10 minutes you could be at shops, restaurants etc. We did the couple mile hike loop they have there and it was great and accessible to start right from the property. We did not get to utilize the screened in porch or firepit I've seen reviews about because it was winter, but the property looks like it would be gorgeous in warm weather as well. Everything was clean and as described. There was plenty in the kitchen to allow for cooking a full dinner etc. Jeffrey was a great host. He was close enough to be there right away if we needed anything, but far enough that we had 100% privacy. I would definitely stay here again!
