Family Summer Vaca

  • 3 of 5

We had a great time staying at the Guest House despite the weather being uncooperative. Mark was very nice and explained everything we needed to know about the house. The house was beautiful and spacious with AMAZING views of the lake. Our family was able enjoy a week at the lake with all the necessities provided in the home. There was so much to do in the Chautauqua area. We were able to visit several wineries, hike through Panama Rocks, sail on the Chautauqua Belle and enjoy many of the local food and entertainment establishments. Our only negative comments would be that we wished there was air conditioning as it was oppressively humid with little to no lake breeze to provide comfort and the lake was experiencing a drought so the water was low not allowing us to dock our boat at the house (this was an unavoidable situation due to Mother Nature). Overall, we had a wonderful vacation!! Thanks Mark and Myra! We look forward to visiting the Chautauqua area again soon.

Nice House

  • 3 of 5

This is a really nice house in a great location. Pretty much had everything we needed. The only downfall is there is NO air conditioner. The second floor gets very hot which made it hard to sleep. Also the rules and regulations for the house made us a little paranoid all week. Don't think we would go back mostly because of the lack of air conditioning.

Great House - Chilly Weekend

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful Home for our "Girls" weekend. Beautiful property -perfectly located on the north end of the lake. In spite of unusually cold rainy/slightly snowy weather for October we still managed to have a wonderful time. However, we were disappointed that the owners would not allow us to have a fire in either of the two indoor fireplaces, considering the outdoor weather was so poor. We we're slightly annoyed by the two pages of rules and regulations regarding housekeeping, along with a written notice on a chalk board about "clean as you go - that way when you want to go it's clean", a couple of notices reminding us that this is not a hotel, and a sign on the mantle that says "There is no maid service today". We feel one suggestion would have been sufficient. Having said that, we did enjoy Myra and Mark's humor and candor while sharing stories about their property. We did start and enjoy an OUTDOOR morning fire and loved sharing our morning with a bald eagle "Sam" perched high above us in a nearby tree. We girls reminisced and had lots of laughs playing games at the kitchen table. Even though it was a bit off season we were able to find several good places to eat, visited some wineries, did a little antiquing and some shopping. We certainly do recommend this property - just remember to wipe your feet.

A wonderful, relaxing weekend!

  • 5 of 5

We just came back from a weekend on the lake and what a pleasant time it was. We were planning on spending a little time fishing and a little time relaxing and the house we rented was perfect. Mark and Myra went out of their way to make everything perfect and it was. We will definitely go back for a longer visit next spring.

Great Retreat

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I along with another couple enjoyed four wonderful days at the Guest House on Lake Chautauqua. The house was great, very clean and well appointed. During the days we visited several wineries along the “Wine Trail”, enjoyed lunch at Southern Tier Brewery and shopped in Ellicottville, a quaint town about an hour to the southeast of Mayville. We enjoyed the wondrous view of the lake from our deck as we grilled dinner then later relaxed around the fire pit. It was a very relaxing four days. Our hosts couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful. Thanks again to out hosts, we hope to be back soon.

Clean, Efficient, and all around Exceptional!!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderfully perfect week up on the lake relaxing and enjoying the outstanding accommodations. Myra and Mark could not be more welcoming. There was nothing that could have made our stay any better. It is a relaxing place for adults to kick back and enjoy much needed quiet time. Everything was absolutely top notch and we cannot wait until next year when we return.

Mark and Myra for sharing your wonderful home with us.
