A large three bedroom house, 200 metres from the sea, in the Enterprise area
Driftwood is a pretty 3 bedroom with polished wooden floors and a wrap around veranda, surrounded by a lovely tropical garden with fruit trees and a huge mango tree which is visited by a family of monkeys each morning! Driftwood is 100yds from Freights bay, known as the best beginners surfing spot on the island. The house is a few mins walk from Miami beach, well loved by families as the white coral sands and gentle waves are perfect for swimming and for small children. There is also a great old bus on the beach which serves rum punch, soft drinks and delicious local snacks on picnic tables under the shady Casuarina trees. At Driftwood house there is a fully fitted kitchen, a separate study/TV room and large living room with a beautiful wrap around veranda overlooking the garden. All the bedrooms are equipped with AC although most guests use the overhead ceiling fans as the house is made of a tropical hardwood called Greenheart which keeps the house cool on the hottest days.
There are three double bedrooms and two bathrooms, 1 en-suite. There is also great tv room/study with a sofa bed and chairs for watching movies and tv in the evenings. The kitchen is fully equipped and includes a large American style fridge with a crushed ice and cold water dispenser. At night sipping drinks on the verandah, listening to the tree frogs and looking at tropical garden in the twilight is a great experience and the early morning visit by the mango tree from the visiting family of monkeys is not to be missed!
Note: we also have a very pretty 1 bedroom apartment with its own balcony and separate entrance which can be rented at the same time. Please ask for details.

About Dagny Bain
We are an English family originally from Barbados who have lived for many years in Portugal. We have two young sons who love returning to Barbados to surf, swim and spend time relaxing with friends and family. We like helping to make our visitors feel comfortable and at home, so we have a wonderful manager called Margaret, a Barbadian who has been in the tourist business for over thirty years who welcomes our guests to the house and makes sure they have everything they need for a fabulous holiday. She is a font of knowledge for the best places to swim and sightsee and tips on where to find great food and nightlife locally. We take great pride in making sure that Driftwood is properly equipped and well managed so that our guests have a fabulous, stress free beach holiday and want to return over and over again.
Dagny Bain purchased this House in 2010
Why Dagny Bain chose Enterprise
Driftwood house is in a lovely unspoilt part of Barbados, close to the sea but in a quiet and safe residential area on the South coast. Dagny (wife and mother) grew up in Barbados and knows the island well - searching for the right property took some time but we knew as soon as we saw the house it was exactly what we were looking for - big enough for visiting members of family yet cosy enough as a romantic getaway for couples. Its close enough to the beach for children to walk there by themselves and the surfing spot at the bottom of the road in Freights bay keeps teenagers and young people happy for many hours.
What makes this House unique
A visiting family of monkeys comes for breakfast early most mornings, they sit on the stepping stones in the garden under the mango tree, to eat the bananas that hopefully you´ve left for them the night before... The house is just 100yds from the sea and a short walk into Oistins town alongside the beautiful turquoise blue Caribbean sea

Twenty plus years ago we spent a week in Barbados with our young daughters and have always wanted to return. Driftwood proved to be a perfect place for our family vacation: our two now-grown daughters and their guys had plenty of space, and, like others, we found the veranda overlooking the garden to be a perfect gathering spot. We rented two Mokes from Stoutes to share among the three couples, giving us the opportunity to get lost separately exploring the island but allowing us to meet up at designated spots for lunch, etc. And, of course, the proximity to Miami Beach was awesome; one son in law also caught some waves at Freights Bay at the end of the road. The house is wonderful, with lots of space, and Margaret the manager is always just a phone call away. The location allows you to explore the whole island easily, but also places you in nearby proximity to grocery stores, restaurants and, of course, the famous Oistins Friday Fish Fry. One caveat: a car, or preferably a Moke, will always help you maximize your experience and allow you to visit the more remote beaches such as Bottom Bay, and sights such as the north end of the island, or St Nicolas Abbey or Bathsheba. Plus, they’re a blast to drive, if a bit unnerving at times. All in all, a great experience!
The Complete Package!
Everything you need for a great vacation. There was just the two of us so we had more than enough space in this three bedroom home. It is nice to have two full bathrooms. We especially loved the veranda and spent most of our time outside. The garden is beautiful with yet another seating area for six people. The neighbourhood is very quiet and we felt very safe. Wouldn’t hesitate to book this home again! Many thanks to Dagny, Margaret, Nowell and the ladies for making our stay so special!
Glad to hear you had such a happy time at the house, we hope you can come again. Best wishes from the Driftwood team!
We would definitely stay here again
Lovely house and good location
Driftwood requires a renovation
The property description is deceptive:
Downstairs bathroom lacks hot water in shower . Both bathrooms have dirt and could use a upgrade. The kitchen appliances are outdated. Fridge rusted. Cook top glass cracked. Pots and Pans should be discarded and replaced with newer utensils. Carpets were stained .Den smelt mouldy and roof in back bedroom leaked.
Wow what an incredibly bad review. I forwarded this message to our lovely helpful and tidy staff at Driftwood to check the house and to make sure these comments were addressed as they are pretty damming. The staff take great pride in their care of Driftwood and they were stunned especially as the house was immaculate before the guests arrived and the pots and pans are as shiny as they always are! It is worth noting that this awful review just might have something to do with our inability to give these clients a discount at that time but even so prospective guests, if you are still concerned about the condition of the house, please read our other reviews just to get a more balanced view about Driftwood.
Lovely cottage style property within walking distance of Miami Beach and Oistins eateries
Great location within walking distance of all local amenities.
Especially fabulous on Oistins fish fry Fridays when walking trumps all forms of transport.
Spent most of our time on the rear veranda where you can watch early morning monkeys eat the bananas you have left out for them.
A little Gem in Paradise!
We stayed for 11 nights in November 2017 with my boyfriend and his parents. Everything was perfect. The house is even better than in the pictures! it's a typical bajan house in wood very well maintained, spacious, clean and decorated. A master en suite room upstairs and 2 other bedrooms downstairs very comfortable. We spent a lot of time on the terrace and in the garden, it's a real plus! We didn't need AC at all as there are ceiling fan in each room and mosquitos net on all the windows.
The location is 100m from freight bay (where it's perfect to practice sup or learn surf) and 10min walk to south point (for more experienced surfer) and Miami beach (beautiful beach for swimming). The location is quiet, very safe and close to everything (in Oistins).
Margaret, the house manager, is a super nice lady who lives very close by and is available for anything. As we stayed for 11 days she sent the cleaning lady after 5 days to clean and change bed sheets and towels which was very appreciated!
Thank you very much for making our stay unforgettable !!
Marine, Pasquale, Rosaria and Donato!
Driftwood is in a quiet, road, on the coast called Enterprise 100yds from Freights bay, known as the best beginner surfing spot in Barbados. Miami beach which is loved by families is just a few mins walk along the coast. The peaceful walk has spectacular views of the turquoise blue Caribbean sea. A two to three minute drive by car or a short walk takes you to the lovely little fishing town Oistins, where fresh fish markets, supermarkets, bars and souvenir shops are located. On Friday night Oistins has a great `fish fry´ which is loved by tourists and local alike, with some of the best food on the island - not to be missed! The popular, St Lawrence Gap is also close by with its lively night life and numerous excellent restaurants. Grantly Adams International Airport is 10 drive minutes away.
