The historic Forest Oaks Manor House now functions as a bed & breakfast with six bedrooms, each with a private bath. Situated on 50 acres of rolling meadows and forest land, the Manor House boasts stunning views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. When entering the mansion, you are greeted by the impressive two story center hall and gallery along with the common areas on the main floor which are tastefully appointed with period antiques.
The Manor House was built in 1806 by Matthew Houston who was a cousin of Sam Houston of Texas fame. The house served as a store and tavern as well as home to the Houston family and their sprawling plantation. After significant restoration, the home now has six guest rooms all with large private baths.
Natural Bridge and the surrounding area are teaming with history, fun and beauty. Spend a day strolling through the historic town of Lexington, hike in the George Washington and Jefferson national forest, fish in any number of streams and rivers, or spend a day kayaking or tubing on the James River. You can also visit our local Natural Bridge zoo and the Virginia Safari Park or spend time marveling at Virginia’s crown jewel, the Natural Bridge State Park and the Natural Bridge Caverns. Once you experience the beauty and history of our area, you will want to come back again to take more in.
