Thank you for allowing us to use the house. We had a wonderful time. Appreciate all you have done to make our stay there comfortable and enjoyable. Naomi ~ Lucy’s Overlook

Lucy’s Overlook was wonderful and the owner is very gracious. We truly enjoyed our visit to Hood River and our nephew’s wedding! Thanks for everything.

The Columbia River Gorge, with its mountains and rivers, offers the vacationer and recreation enthusiast the opportunity to windsurf, mountain bike, kayak, golf, ski, hike, fish, or just relax in the unhurried pace of a natural paradise. Historic buildings line the beautifully scenic streets of downtown Hood River, with a bustling shopping district featuring boutiques, designer shops, outdoor adventure gear outfitters, antique shops, art galleries and no less than 30 restaurants.

There are many orchards and vineyards in Hood River. The Hood River Valley is known for its luscious apples, pears, cherries, peaches and other fruits, and for the view of the majestic snowcapped peak of Mt. Hood. People from all over Oregon make an annual trek in the fall to the many farm stands to stock up on fresh apples and pears. Other produce is available, and varies by season. The award-winning Hood River Vineyards is located on a hillside overlooking the Hood River Valley. Their tasting room features traditional wines, and fruit liqueurs.

The Columbia River Gorge, with its magnificent views make this a dream spot for a destination wedding.

Wind surfing capital of the world is Hood River's latest distinction. The winds from the Columbia River Gorge, best during the middle of the day, create ideal conditions for riding the waves. To enjoy the view of "boardheads" at play, drive to the Columbia Gorge Sailpark or follow Second Street to the waterfront.

The Mt. Hood region and its more than sixty miles of forested mountains, 77 waterfalls and myriad lakes and streams are a rip-roaring mecca for outdoor adventure. The mountain is home to four ski areas and offers the country's only year-round skiing and snowboarding.

The best view of the gorge hands down

  • 5 of 5

This house was fantastic- it had everything, including a couple of bald eagles who lived nearby that would hunt every morning and evening that you could watch for ages. The two of us were here during the hottest days Hood River had seen- it was over 100 degrees. The house didn't have a/c, so it was hot. BUT- it did cool off when you opened the doors- and there was a constant wind from the gorge. There was a back deck to cool off on when the sun was high. I would be nervous to have young ones there as the great views come from being up so high on the gorge- however, there are railings. The house had wifi, and you could be hiking within a few miles in any direction. The town was great, but it was nice to be on our own and be able to cook etc.

Owner's Response: We agree! This is the best house for the BEST view of the Gorge! We are so glad you had an awesome time. It was an unusually hot early summer this year, we are glad you were able to find a way to cool off even without the A/C. We would be delighted to host you again! Happy travels till then ~ Hood River Vacation Rentals

Amazing

  • 5 of 5

I originally booked a stay at Lucy's Overlook for my husband and I and my sister and her husband and daughter. Due to unforseen circumstances only myself and my sister were able to make it, so I thought about cancelling the reservation but didn't. Am I so glad that I did not! Lucy's overlook is so much more than the photos make it out to be (and it is usually the reverse). I truly believe that it gives the best view of the gorge. The house was clean, anything you'd need to cook/bake, nice beds, fans, washer/dryer, wifi, or anything else you'd need! I cannot think of one thing that would have made it better (other than my husband being there!). We plan on making it our destination for an annual get together. Five stars in every regard, I have never stayed at a nicer place and cannot wait to come back. We even considered staying another night since the following night wasn't booked.
