Enjoy the evenings by the bonfire or enjoy a nice hot Sauna with a dip in the water (summer) or a roll in the snow (winter :~)

Bedrooms are very comfortable - new mattresses, good pillows - always fresh clean linens. All mattresses and pillows have hypo allergenic covers. One bathroom downstairs with jetted tub and shower - one bathroom upstairs with tub and shower. The kitchen is very spacious, easy to cook in and comes well stocked with everything you need.

As for other local activities.... can't name it all here. The Matanuska Susitna valley has hiking, Iditirod Mushers Dog Kennels to visit, visting Historic Talkeetna is a must, Hatcher Pass to hike and visit Independence Mine. the list goes on and on. Visitor Center is on the way too in case you need suggestions. So much to do - anything from Glacier guided tours, Ziplining to hiking and Mt. Biking is all within your front doorstep to 30 to 45 minutes from the lakehouse. Denali is about 2 hours North of Big Lake.

For Golf enthusiasts - Settlers Bay is less than 30 minutes drive.

Fantastic Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous time with our four grandkids at the Big Lake house. The property is very well maintained and we had plenty of room for the 8 of us. The pontoon boat, canoe, peddle boat and kayaks made the lake really fun for all of us. We enjoyed the sauna every night along with s'moors at the lakeside fire pit.

Scott, the owner, was available by cell/text for questions and attentive to any needs that we might have had.

We are coming back next year.

We loved our stay. We stayed 9 days and had super quality time with our family on the lake.

Everything was clean, neat and well equipped. The few times I needed to contact Scott, he returned calls right away. I would definitely stay here again in the future

This is definitely a Home Away from Home! My family and I truly enjoyed our stay. All of the equipment was in good working order and the property was stocked with the basic necessities which helped make life easy. We really enjoyed the water equipment and made great use of the lake. The fire pit was a nightly gathering point to come together and relax. We made great memories here! Should we return to this area, we would definitely rent this property again! Thanks Scott.

Great house, property, and toys

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 5 stayed here in early August, 2016. We used this house for a few days and then got an RV and went South for a few more. We have used VRBO several times in the past. The pictures dont really capture how nice the property is. The house is on a large private lot on a beautiful lake and we used this location to go out and do our day trips. Dont skip Martin Buser sled dog tour right around the corner. The big bonus and what kept us having lots of fun while at the house were the toys. A pontoon boat, dock, canoe, two kayaks, stand up paddle boards, football, frisbee, etc were all there. The owners were friendly and helpful as well.

Lots of things to do nearby. Use tripadvisor for all those. Knik Glacier tour is not to be missed.

Simply perfect

  • 5 of 5

Not sure where to start as everything was perfect.

The house itself is open concept, large, and very comfortably furnished. We had more than plenty room for our family of 5. The kitchen is well equipped with pots, pans, cutlery etc. We came from the east coast, stocked up on groceries in Wasilla and never had to go shopping again. The house had absolutely everything we needed. All cleaning products were supplied. Washer & dryer were great to have. Sauna was a fabulous treat.

Outside there were two 4 seater dining sets with tables and chairs as well as an additional picnic table. The fire pit area was fabulous and we had a fire our last night using the available wood/kindling/paper from the wood sheds. Too bad it rained the other 4 nights.

The dock is large and getting the kayaks and paddleboards in the water was so simple. We were on the lake a lot because it was so quiet and warm. We saw only 5 other people on it during our entire stay. It takes about 40mins to kayak the perimeter. We did not use the pontoon boat as that would likely be above our skill level.

I wish we could return but our next Alaska vacation will be many years from now. In the meantime, anyone considering this house should book it without hesitancy. If it was available near our home, we would buy it immediately.

Thank you Scott & Lindy for sharing this magical place!!

We rented three houses during our two week stay in Alaska and this was our favorite. The views of the sunset are breathtaking. The house was clean and

had everything we could possibly want or need. We took the kayaks out in the quiet of the morning on the lake and enjoyed the "party boat" in the evening.

We visited Denali, ( a long drive), Palmer, Matanuska Glacier, (highly recommended). Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer.
