About the property

3 Bedroom, 2 Baths (sleeps 9-10) Extraordinary Lakefront, Clear Warm Waters

Start a new family tradition at this Historic Estate with private waterfront. Situated 1.3 miles south of the town of Beaverton on the South East shore of Lake Simcoe, the property is 2 1/2 acres of park-like setting which will captivate all, with manicured lawns perfect for croquet, badminton, volleyball or touch football. The view of the lake is unparalleled magnificence, with a glorious sunset over the far western shoreline. This is property is for the discerning vacationer - it's one of a kind.

Lake Simcoe is a boater's paradise with easy access to the Trent Canal system, because of the size of lake there is never congestion for boaters, and there are large islands nearby to explore. The fishing is great for small mouth bass and perch, sunfish and trout.

Several golf courses are within minutes away, reasonable rates and well tended fairways give challenge to even the best players.

The cottage was built for Reverend McLennan's son - the largest and choice piece of the surrounding cottage properties. It has three bedrooms, small well equipped galley kitchen, a large living room with an adjoining sunporch which is a wonderful place for reading, relaxing and playing those wonderful summer board games!

Why Elizabeth Johnston chose Lake Simcoe

This property was an amazing find - a little more than 1 hour north of Toronto, it allowed our young family to enjoy life at the lake while Dad commuted to Toronto during the summer months - a breeze with the on the 404. The water is crystal clear, and because of the west facing property and the gentle breezes blowing of the lake biting bugs are rarely a nuisance. The town of Beaverton provides amusement, and all necessities. A leisurely walk for ice cream and a movie.

What makes this cottage unique

Close Proximity to major attractions - including Casino Rama, and all amenities bus service to Toronto, banking, shopping, library, pick your own farms, Red Barn Theatre, yet completely secluded, surrounded by trimmed cedar hedge. Private lake front with a dock - highly unusual on the west side of Lake Simcoe.

Hi Elizabeth,

Thank you for checking on us. We had a fabulous week at your property!

With my family, as well as old friends and their kids come and go throughout the week, there were special memories made all week long by many people.

The nightly sunsets and campfires, playing old music and having drinks and laughs were undoubtedly our favourite part of each day.

We all enjoyed the old, rustic simcoe cottage, as it reminded us of our younger years at other similar cottages.

We have all expressed an interest in renting your property the next time it's my turn to come East. If you ever decide to leave the site, please be sure to let me know how to contact you.

Thank you again for renting us your magnificent property, Elizabeth.

Best regards,

Traci

Sunsets and campfires!

  • 4 of 5

This property was the perfect simcoe cottage getaway for our week long 50th birthday celebration! The view of the lake, the beach access, the sunsets and the campfire pit made this the quintessential Ontario vacation. The kids pitched tents, we BBQ'd and played badminton on the grounds, it was exactly what we were looking for. The cottage is a little rustic, but it reminded us all of our grandparents cottage and it had everything we needed. I would recommend this property without hesitation.

Antidote for the City

  • 5 of 5

We loved this place! The water was beautiful, the grounds were stunning and the cottage has everything you need. Sleeping with the breeze coming though the screens with the sound of the waves on the beach are the perfect antidote for the city.

Perfect family vacation!

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I decided to rent this cottage with my parents and my brother. Let me tell you, we did not regret our choice. As soon as we stepped out of the van we were blown away. Just walking on the property gives you a certain sense of calm and peace. You feel relax. The owners made us feel very welcomed and made sure we had everything we needed. There was even a bottle of wine and some nice candies waiting for us inside. The cottage is very clean and most importantly very spacious. We were a large group of people (5 adults ans 2 kids), but never felt crowded. We really appreciated the washer and dryer :-). Of course we did not spend a lot of time inside the cottage. The outside is simply AMAZING and very well maintained. We enjoyed the deck and most importantly the view (not to mention the constant sounds of the waves). The kids had lots of space to run around and play. We appreciated the fact that we had our very own private beach. The only thing is that it is not a sandy beach, but there is a sandy beach (as well as a beautiful splash pad)in Beaverton which is only a five minute drive. We all we were emotional the morning we had to leave. We definitely enjoyed our stay and recommend this cottage to any family with or without kids.

Incredible views

  • 5 of 5

This is a traditional cottage with lots of space and all the essentials you need.

We had a wonderful trip and our boys (3&6) enjoyed every minute. Perfect for all ages but do bring water shoes as it is rocky. You won't be upset by this pick... makes me smile, just thinking about it.

Owner's Response: Nicest compliment ever - that you have wonderful memories from your stay at our cottage! I am reminded of Peter Gzowski's stories of his Lake Simcoe retreat, Canadian Living used to feature him on the last page with a story about his cottage experiences - always ignited wonderful memories of our times at the cottage.
