About Craig Griffiths

Misty Mountain Inn & Cottages: A family affair and labor of love!

Patty and David purchased Misty Mountain Inn & Cottages in the fall of 2017. Craig is our general manager and in charge of daily operations. Aunt Karon comes to deep clean every so often as only she can! Spike led the extensive renovations and lives one mile up the road with Sarah and Slate. We spent the winter and much of the spring completely renovating the six cabins and are now delighted to be ready for primetime! Tyler, Kember and Levi visit us from Milton as often as they can! Even 91 year old Great Grandma Marie pitches in folding laundry!

Why Craig Griffiths chose Blairsville

Why this property? Let me tell you....

To the Tune of The Beverly Hillbillies:

Well let me tell you a story about Patty and Pappy

Living in the suburbs where they weren’t so very happy

Then one day she said “Honey doncha know?

The mountains are calling and we must go.

--Appalachia – rolling hills -sparkling streams --

Well the next thing you know ole Sherry Busteed –

Realtor extraordinaire and good friend indeed

Said “Blairsville, GA is the place you ought to be”

So they loaded up the truck and they moved to the Misty --

---Mountain Inn and Cottages

Cue banjos and joyful smiling people holding hands...

We fell in love with Misty Mountain Inn from the moment we first spotted it sitting back behind a copse of stately trees on Town Creek School Road. The property needed a great deal of TLC but our family was up to the challenge and could see the enormous potential in this beautiful home and the six cottages on the hillside behind it. Within 3 months of our first visit, 8 of us made a mass exodus from the Alpharetta, GA suburbs to the small town of Blairsville where we continue to live happily ever after surrounded by breathtaking beauty and wonderful people.

What makes this cottage unique

Great beauty abounds at Misty Mountain where you might see deer grazing on the property in the early morning or view our heron visiting the turtles in the pond. Our resident falcons call to each other from the trees in the front yard. The cabin is strategically situated to allow guests optimal privacy from the porch. Walking up behind the cabin at dusk affords a wonderful sunset experience. Come sit for a spell on the swing overlooking the pond or gather in the gazebo by the stream.

We loved the cabin!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was very appealing and comfortable. Loved all the "extra's" that were supplied to make an easy first day arrival. (More than I've ever seen in other houses/cabins we have stayed in.) The manger was helpful and made us feel very welcome. Would highly recommend.

Perfect couples mountain getaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our weekend stay. The cottage is comfortable, cozy, and quiet. It feels fresh and new inside, with a surprisingly luxurious feel for a mountain cabin. It is very nicely decorated with a 4--poster bed, very comfy bedding for a great night's sleep. It felt similar to a stay in a nice hotel but had many extra advantages, including a wood-burning fireplace (firewood was on the porch) and small kitchen with a little table where we could enjoy breakfast and a take-out meal. The innkeeper is pleasant and friendly, and the setting is lovely. We loved it, and will certainly be back!

Mountain getaway

  • 5 of 5

This was a nicely appointed little cottage. Our stay was too short to enjoy it more. The porch was a wonderful place to relax and take in the scenery. The little brook in front of the cottage and the beautiful mountains was reminiscent of when we lived in WVA. Everything was as advertised. It was quiet and serene, just what we were hoping for. There is a town not far from the site with lots of restaurants and shops. The owners are very nice and accommodating. Only minor drawbacks were, the chairs in the cottage being uncomfortable and lack to cell phone service due to the mountainous location. We hope to return for a longer stay.

Perfect, relaxing cabin with many extras!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was a great place to stay for our anniversary! The pictures just don't do it justice as they don't show all of the extra special little touches. Even with a tropical storm during our trip, the cabin allowed us to make our own food, relax, and be comfortable. We WILL be back, and perhaps the kids will join us next time. Wonderful!!!!
