This delightful, spacious and light-filled house, within a short drive to several beaches (both Bay and Ocean), offers tranquillity, privacy AND close proximity to all conveniences -- supermarkets, drugstores, medical facilities, bike trail. . . Situated in Eastham, just over the town line with Orleans (is 1 minute drive from the Orleans/Rte 6 Rotary). . . A 3-minute drive to Rock Harbor, one of New England's best-known charter-fishing boat harbors where boats can be chartered by the day or half-day. The house overlooks a large salt marsh, through which a tidal river, perfect for kayaking, runs to Boat Meadow Beach less than a mile away. 2 BRs with Queen beds on 2nd floor; 3rd BR on main floor has twin beds. Extremely light and airy kitchen adjoins a spacious 2-level deck; large gas grill and outdoor shower. A completely separate large cathedral-ceiling family room allows separate activity areas for family members. The 25-mile Cape Cod Rail Trail (Wellfleet to Dennis, for biking and walking) is less than a mile from the house. 5- to 15-minute drive to Cape Cod National Seashore headquarters & several National Seashore beaches, + the famed Wellfleet Audubon Wildlife Sanctuary.

After having lived in Manhattan for many years & spent many summers on the Outer Cape, we relocated to the Cape & to Westchester County NY. This house is where we now spend most of our time, year-round, when it is not otherwise rented.

We were originally looking in Orleans because it is such a vibrant year-round community. This property, while technically in Eastham, is just a few hundred feet from the Orleans border and gives us all the advantages of being within walking distance of every possible 'urban' amenity. (There is even a Staples nearby, as well as 2 huge supermarkets that are open til 11:00 PM !)

What makes this house unique

Since we wanted to be able to spend considerable time on the Cape in ALL seasons, we fell in love with this house because it gives the feel of being out-of-doors, yet cozy and protected, even in the worst of weather. (We've spent at least 3 significant snowstorms here, and actually enjoyed them !) When the house was built in 1982 it was initially a fairly typical 'Cape Cod cottage' -- But subsequent owners had modified it considerably, opening up the floor plan and adding numerous windows throughout, + adding a large cathedral-ceiling family room at the east end of the house. This room makes the house especially great for family groups, since it can be closed off for separate activiites and/or 'quiet space' when needed !

Delightful Cape Cod Experience!

This is a wonderful house, very clean, well equipped and well laid out with lots of private areas for different interests and activities. Cozy franklin stove in kitchen is perfect for chilly evenings. With the house overlooking the salt marsh, it's almost like being right on the beach-- the marsh changes by the hour and is endlessly entertaining. Walking/biking trail is also very close by. House is at end of cul-de-sac, private and safe for kids to play outside. Location is ideal-- in a less crowded part of Cape than Hyannis and Dennis areas, yet not isolated and with shopping and attractions nearby.
